Gossamer visibly grew uncomfortable as he began speaking. She didn't really like the whole... doctor lingo. She felt like a lab experiment or something. But... at this point she probably was. And she was wanting to know what had happened to her. So....

"....I understand." she replied.

Gossamer's uneasyness grew at that question. "My childhood?" she asked. Her tone defensive. "I'm sure they have a nice little file about Janet."

"Yes. But it's all second hand information, isn't it?" Doctor Gray replied. "Wouldn't it be better to tell what you remember? If you don't remember much, I could go through the file for you."

Gossamer frowned at that. "No...." she said, then sighed and looked down at the table. "My childhood I remember rather well. Most of my life as Janet I remember rather well. A lot of things I'd rather forget... I remember all to clear." she said, then looked up at Dr. Villa. "There's not much to tell though. Rich parents... if I wasn't being raised by nanny's and private tutors, my mother was teaching me how to be proper. I decided to be like Daddy instead and got my start with the NYPD as a detective. Ironic, huh?"

Gossamer grew quiet a moment, and her eyes fell back towards the table. "Quite a bit actually." she replied slowly. "My mother died giving birth to my sister that she gushed over and wanted to 'start out the right way'. I ended up raising her. Dad was killed. Thought it was this new group that was in town. Went undercover and adopted the Gossamer identity. Started fiddling with magic. Then I found out that my fiance was the one who had gotten my father killed. After he framed me for his murder of course. Some scam he did with other girls to get their money. I broke out and went after him, and he killed me. I woke up, rushed to my house, and found my sister dead." she said, then looked up at the doctor. "Guess you could say I went a little crazy after that."

"Yeah, that would be a fair assumption." Gossamer replied. Then she leaned back in her chair and tried to make herself comfortable. "When I was undercover as Gossamer, I tried getting into that group I had been investigating. Breaking into places, stealing.... that sort of thing. We came across an old magic shop, and stole some things from a museum. One of the things was an old magic book. I mean an old one. Just to play around I tried out a few of the spells that didn't call for some unobtainable items. One of them... I found out later.... was an imortality spell. I only die when I want to die. I can be killed, of course. But I usually wake up again some time later. I've been killed quite a few times over the years. If it wasn't for a physical magic I cast on myself, I'm sure I'd look like a zombie. I know I didn't look very pretty after I was killed the first time."

Gossamer grew quiet. Very quiet. Her eyes fell back onto the table in front of her, and remained there until she found the courage to speak again.



The doors flung open... rain pouring down and a flash of lightning sending a burst of light into the hallway and streaching a shadow across the red carpet floor. Normally she would appreciate how theatrical such a scene was. Something out of the movie. But right now... she had far too much on her mind to even BEGIN taking in the sceenery.

"JULIE!!" Janet screamed into the darkened house.

There was no responce. No nanny, no clatter of little feet at the sound of Janet's voice. Nothing. Just a very still... chilling silence. Janet stood in the doorway for another moment, then limped her way into the hallway as quickly as she could. A trail of blood and water following her into the house.

"JULIE!!" she cried again. Still nothing. Janet continued forward, trying to fight off the rigamortis that had set into her bones. She had pushed through the majority of it, but it was still hindering her ability to move. The broken jaw and open wounds weren't helping her much either.

She continued on until she came to the large open section of the hallway. The one where the upper balcony and stairway were located. The place where her father had "fallen". She came around the corner and to the opening of the hallway.... then froze.



" ..... I didn't get to her in time." she said quietly. A deep twinge of sadness in her tone. "They ransacked the house and pushed her off the balcony. She landed on her..... she was dead by the time I got there. Long enough to turn cold."

Gossamer nodded slowly. "So what else do you need to know?" she asked.

Once again, Gossamer grew quiet. Reflective. The only noticable difference this time was... the look in her eyes as she focused on the table in front of her. "What happened when I caught up with him?" she asked slowly. Her tone void of any sence of sorrow it once held.

A small smile curled around the corner of the woman's lips as she finished thinking about it. "I broke up with him." she said, looking up at the Doctor. "When a love interest kills me... I take that as a pretty definate break up. I was just returning my consent of the break up."

"Note to self: After I beat up Fisk, change name and start over in another country. Cuba! No American steps foot into Cuba!"

. . . what is this? 1957?! C.J., the feds lift that embargo and you're back in here!

"And? The only difference is I beat up Fisk! That means Misty'll come back now that the big problem's out of the way. It's logic!"

No . . . that's TWO counts of homicide instead of the ONE you already have!

"Huh, I remember THIS li'l part of things. Hey, Writer! Is this the part where I flipped out an' tried to break out?"

Err, not yet, Blackjack. We're still in the first day you were in here.

"pssh, I'd be out already if it wasn't conducive to the plot that I'm in here!"

"I would say whack him but I might die!"

Trust me, I thought of that. Comic Book Joker's got a surprise for y'all!

Arell smiled as Anna was in thought. "It's a helluva thang, ain't it?" he asked with his familiar lowcountry drawl. It was going to be a while, but that's alright. She seemed really nice . . . not sure if she realized she wasn't as old as she thought.
