It sounded like it was really busy. Miyuki nodded as she listened to them.
"What's at the festival? Besides slit walkers that is?"
She knew the New Year's celebration in the Borderlands was fun, it was lots of fun actually.

"Always music, dancing, games, contests," Rigel grinned. "Lots of food and drink. Competitions. Things to buy - so many things to buy! Shows and entertainment ... you could be there the whole three days and not see the lot of it."
"Even Father goes, and enjoys himself," Daeron put in. "And that's saying something. He never leaves the castle otherwise."

Miyuki was surprised to hear that because she was sure that her nako did leave the castle.
"Doesn't he get bored just being in the castle all the time?"

"Father is a workaholic," Daeron confided in Miyuki. "If mother would let him, he would never stop working. The thing is, he really hasn't all that much call for his particular talent. Horseshoes, yes, a few weapons here and there ... but those are also obtainable in the city. His greatest skill lies in working with littinum. I know of no others who can use it. But because it's so rare and so expensive, he doesn't work with it often. He really could take a lot more time off. But he doesn't."
He shrugged. "Personally, I think it's a habit left over from when he used to try his best to avoid people on purpose."

"That's the metal that mom's necklace is made out of yes?" Miyuki asked.
She noticed the necklace didn't look like any other metal she had seen previously, but hadn't thought too much on it.

Daeron nodded. "Yes. And I'm sure she knows the value of it. Knowing your father, though ..." He chuckled. "He wouldn't have allowed anything less."
"I have noticed that Earendil always insists on the best of everything, for everyone," Iorlas remarked. "He does not make allowances, I don't think."

Miyuki chuckled a bit at that, "He doesn't... I think of mom didn't make the first move sometimes, he'd always be doing something."
It was really subtle, but she noticed it sometimes. How her mom had to sometimes just go and do something so he wouldn't do it first for her.
"But anyways, maybe nako can convince neko to go out more, I can't imagine what he does all the time if he could afford to spend more time out, or what he's missing by working all the time."

Daeron glanced at Iorlas. "A few years ago, I would have said that he's missing a lot," he murmured. "But now ... somehow I think he's seeing more than he ever has before."
"If the Enderi weren't so far away still, I'd suggest you stay for it," Rigel spoke up, "but since it's over two months away, I've a feeling you'll be gone long before it takes place."
"Very likely," Soronume agreed, though she was only half paying attention. She was also listening for the sounds outside of the small dining room, making sure that things out in the inn were under control.

Miyuki nodded, "We're just waiting for people to arrive, since Kaito decided to use the portals to tell everyone we're back instead of waiting for the messenger to arrive."
Honestly, between looks and personality, it was really hard to tell the two were related sometimes.

"I can see why he would want to do that," Rigel nodded. "Patience is not one of Kaito's virtues, unfortunately. But it is going to be a long enough wait without having to wait for the messenger first to reach them - especially as, if I am not mistaken, Princess Wren will also be accompanying you on your journey?"
Daeron nodded.
"And of course, the distance she alone must travel is double that of those in the Borderlands," Rigel concluded.
"I believe Lady Serenity had offered to take her to the Borderlands by flight," Iorlas spoke up hesitantly.

"I think I heard something about that from Kaito," Miyuki nodded, "But I didn't know that ninako had offered that long back to do so."
Though really, it made sense when she thought about it.
"So it'll still take a few weeks but not as long as anyone first thought it was going to take."

"And then it's off to Namonuito," Iorlas smiled.
Daeron grinned. "Yes. I hope someone remembered to let Arwen and Roydon know that we're going to be coming."

They could fly there after all and she knew they were included in the long list that Kaito gave.

"We can ask when we get back to the castle," Daeron shrugged.
There was a knock at the door, and Starr, looking the same as ever, poked her head in.
"Master Rigel, we need your help," she said apologetically. "It's getting quite full out there."
Rigel dabbed at his mouth with his napkin and pushed his chair back. "I'm on my way," he told Starr. He turned back to the others. "Sorry to dash out like this. Stay as long as you like, enjoy your meal. I'll see the three of you another time, I'm certain."

After all, Andarien would still have to visit, she was sure it would become a family outing.
