Has the release date (finally?) been announced?
@Nockz: You theory holds no water. Megadeth after Dave was diagnosed with Saturday-Night Palsy and had to re-learn guitar. they're 2 most recent studio albums have been some of their best work since Coundown to extinction. they're coming back in a big way. And with Cannibal Corpse, they're sound has not changed one bit since they made they're first studio album in 1987. Now most would contend that that will eventually get played out but they appear to be doing a good enough job, no? Slayer. They may have put in melodies in South of Heaven and they Kinda rid that. but they have been OK mostly. that AND that is the only thrash metal band with all 4 of the original members. Granted Dave Lombardo left for a while but he's back and rocking

@Haru: I get the impression you've missed my point. I am well aware that Megadeth haven't changed in the last twenty years, having all but one of their albums, but why is that? Because Dave Mustaine didn't want it to change. The music he writes today is so similar to the previous albums because his musical tastes haven't been changing as drastically as those of the Metallica band members. Some bands change over time, others dont, its as easy as that really. Do you still listen to the same music you did 10 years ago? I know I didn't but like maybe you did. Megadeth are better than ever these days I believe. As are Slayer.

this is straight from a magazine :
METALLICA the return of the gitar solo
everyone who is a ilitle intrested in the worlds best metalband knows that everything is going alright with them. The drummer is just for the third time father , and the group is making an album with Rick Rubin, they took a break of recording to do the " sick of the studio" tour. Just as last year Europ is chosen to worship their live performance. this year they were on the holly ground of "Rock Werchter" just before they went on stage we could have a chat with Kirk Hammett .
(i'll skip the bulshit for later now i'll just type the part about the new album)
so you were working on a new album an album were you were working on diferently then the last one. then the songs were made togeter how were you working now ?
Again we wrote a whole lot of material, the big differents is that metallica is again a reall band. The input of Robbert (Trujillo ,bass)is fresh and renews us he is almost 4 years in Metallica but until now he only prove himself on the stage . Now he is working creatively on the new album and that gives us a boost . Everything is going smooth and i can tell you we are making the best Metallica album in 15 years. Again it is reall metal. When i listen to the raw songs it reminds me to "...And Justice For All".
i'll make a new topic for the whole intervieuw it is 3 pages long razz

This can't be real... Now that the album's out (and this guild is dying), what does everyone think? I like it, but it's not my favorite by far. I highly doubt that anything they put out after this will top their beginning years of being a band. I'd like to think that Ride the Lightning was their best album yielding such greats as Fade to Black, Trapped Under Ice, and Call of Ktulu. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I DO think it's much better than St. Anger however. cannot stand this hell I feel, getting lost within myself, nothing matters, no one else.

It's miles ahead of St. Anger. I thoroughly enjoyed it. mrgreen Well, not the ballads. The Unforgiven III was ok at best, and The Day That Never Comes was 3 minutes of pure awesome. (Problem was, it's seven minutes long)
