NO! Rolant wouldn't stop or give up at this point. Not after all the work he had done to formulate this incredibly stupid yet ingenious plan. He would wait out the pain and then when he was at full strength he would cross the rope bridge he had made and grab that key from its chain. He would show Yuzuki's little death trap how an Estoqueur deals with impossible challenges. Rolant grinned as he thought this to himself."We'll show him." Rolant thought as he stood trembling gripping the ropes with all his strength. He wouldn't let himself die like this. Not Rolant Estoqueur damnit!

Rolant could feel his strength returning as the bleeding seemed to stop and the raging water's below returned to a clam yet deadly still pool. Rolant sighed in relief as the shark's calmed. His thoughts still racing towards calling himself an idiot and that he should give up. But, Rolant would soon return those thoughts with ones of why was it he was giving up so easily or why would he end all his hard work now. Rolant would go back and forth with himself mentally as he stoop on his tight ropes and held on for dear life. He had stopped trembling when the water's calmed but, the tension was still there.

A melody came to Rolant's thoughts as he stood there on the tight ropes. It was a familiar tune that he would hear around the village as a child but he didn't quite know the word's to it. Normally, these little phantom tunes would drive Rolant crazy as he would focus on them until he fully remembered the tune and every last syllable in its lyrics. This might actually have been the thing Rolant would need to survive this tragic miscalculation. "Now how did that go?" Rolant mused as hethought about the song intently as he felt his strength slowly returning.

Rolant would soon abandon the idea of trying to remember the song in every detail. He feared that if he would concentrate on the song too much he would lose his concentration on holding the ropes and he would fall to his doown with the deadly pool of sharks below. He would save that melody for later after he had survived this set of events and finally gotten out of this death trap. Rolant stared at Yuzuki who was still plastered to the ceiling reading his book. He must think he is so smug for making these torturous trials for his students. Was it really necessary to go to these extremes? Rolant shrugged off the assumptions and returned to concentrating on holding on for dear life.

Rolant impatiently wiggled his fingers along the rope. Would his strength never fully return? He impatiently began to thing about making an all or nothing push towards the end. But, Rolant soon shook off the idea it would be stupid and foolish to attempt something like that. From what he had experienced already it would only end in suicide. Rolant didn't like the idea of suicide any more than the next guy, but he wouldn't just uselessly throw his life away for no reason at all. Rolant mused at how he would perform this feat after his strength had returned to him.

Rolont decided that after a few more minutes had passed he would make one grande try at the key. More than likely he wouldn't make it very far before falling in But, you never know unless you try right. Rolant steadied himself before gently caressing the brim of his Chapeau with his forefinger and his thumb as he usually did before bracing himself to make his move. Any second now...Rolant would attempt to make the stupidest decision of his life! He would be attempting to bound across the rope bridge with great speed taking little to no chances at falling into the water again.

Rolant trembled in fear as he shifted his weight a little bit and then he gasped as he threw himself from the rope just barely he grabbed onto it. His foot however slipped into the water only to be quickly met by the sharks. They nibbled at the boy as usual only to quicklybecome bored with the taste of the boy and quickly returned to their laze at the bottom of the pool. Rolant grimaced as the sharks gnawed at his foot. The idea was the second most stupid and foolish idea he had had all day but it had gotten him very much farther across the deadly pool than he had expected it to. Rolant saw how close hewas to the pools other edge and he decided he would attempt the stupidest decision a second time. This time however, he would have to use less force to get across and he had to be careful not to bounce off the pool's edge. He would also be mindful as to not forget to grab for the key.

Rolant gasped as he threw himself towards the pool's edge but he didn't make it quite as far as before. He grasped the ropes once more and felt the ripping gnaw of the sharks below as they more uickly raced to the intruder. It was becoming more evident now that Rolant was getting used to the pain of the tiny nibbles the sharks took from him every time he fell in. That last assault did not hurt as much as the last few did for this same reason. That, and Rolant could almost touch the key he was so close. This last time would surely allow him to reach the edge.

Rolant only needed a second more to catch his breath to make the final push. May he grow wings with the next attempt!

Without hesitation Rolant tossed himself from the ropes sending himself flying toward the key and the pools edge. He reached for the dangling key. It glittered as Rolant focused on it. It seemed to glitter more prominently as it got closer to his hands and even prettier still as Rolants hand snatched it chain and all from the air. Rolant then gracefully landed dead on the pools edge. Fear crossed his face as he soon began to fall bacwards, the still water's falsely portraying what awaited poor Rolant as soon as his body hit the water. As Rolant's body meagerly had just about hit the water's surface and Rolant had finally had come to the conclusion he was ready to meet death as an old friend a heavy metalic sliding could be heard and as quickly as anyone's eyes could follow the large pool was soon covered by a pair of twin heavy metal doors. Rolant soon slammed into the pair of metal gaurdians and he soon sat there his skin bubbling from his rage as he just sat there with his face to the cold metallic doors. "ARE YOU ******** KIDDING ME!?!?!" was all that rang out from the young Estoqueur as he rose up from the now cold metal floor that had just save him from being mauled by the deadly chainsaw of shark fangs beneath it. "ALL THAT AND THE POOL WAS GOING TO BE COVERED AFTER I RELEASED THE KEY!?" Rolant paused as he caught his breath again "THAT IS JUST SICK!?!" Rolant shouted climbing onto the pools rim and just passing out there...the proverbial ragequit.

He had woken up on the ege of the pool and everything seemed to have been totally reset and in place. Yuzuki was still on the ceiling reading his book upside down. The odds of Rolant ever asking that man to train where slim to none now. Rolant then remembered he was supposed to pick up the book for learning the hand signs. Rolant then remembered where the book was located and got up to go get it. As Rolant found the book and placed it on a nearby table he felt stronger somehow. Like he had gained newfound power and he was...better....somehow. Was this what it was like to be a shinobi? Rolant didn't have time to waste gauwking over his newfound powers. He needed MORE POWER! And he needed it NOW!

H then began reading the tattered book. It would seem that the students before him frustratingly ripped peices of the book and or smudged some of the lettering away with tears of frustration. On the corners of some of the pages there appeared to be blood on the pages. More than likely Yuzuki's training regime took a little bit of an extreme on some of those students...or they got paper cut...Rolant was thinking maybe it was the former.
Prologue: Hand signs or "Hand seals" are the quintessential tool of any ninja. The Shinobi use the hand signs to channel their chakra to their hands and mold the chakra to form jutsu. The 12 hand signs represent the 10 animals of the zodiac, each animal controlling one of five elements. Upon reaching a chapter of this book you will notice basic diagrams and instructions on finger positions for each individual sign. Using this manual as a guide will ensure that all 12 hand signs become natural enough to you that you can perform them at a moments notice.
*Upon closer inspection of the books page in the blank margins someone seems to have written "Turn back now!" in their own blood.
Rolant grimaced at the cryptic message as he turned the page, who would do such a thing to a book? Much less in your own blood.
Rolant began reading the first page. However some of the words seemed faded out or didn'teven exist in the book anymore. The pages also seemed smeared or torn from previous students frustration.
Bird: Tori x
Tori is the Tenth sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Rooster. It is associated with West and the month of August.
Formed by interlacing both middle fingers and ring fingers and touching both pointer fingers, both pinkies, and both thumbs. As depicted in the diagram.
Rolant could barely make out the writing on the page as it had been smeared by something, probably tears of frustrated students. Rolant instead lookedat the pictures of the seal and followed it step by step. He looked at his hands aswell as at the final picture an noticed they seemed to match "Checkmate" Rolant stated as he turned the page to the next seal. The Boar.
Boar: Ousu-buta x
Ousu-Buta is the Twelfth sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Pig. It is associated with North-Northwest and the month of October.
Formed by balling up ones hans as if praying and flipping the formation upside down. As shown by the above diagram.
Yet another page that Rolant couldn't make out very clearly at all "fdsf in a praying motio-whut?" Rolant stammered out as he wasted no more time and followed the diagram. His seal and the book seemed to match perfectly so he began to turn the page. The next seal,The Dog.
*the bottom margin of this page seemed to have depicted an epic battle scene pencil drawn in by a talented artist. Obviously not the work of the books author though.
Dog: Inu x
Inu is the Eleventh sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Dog. It is associated with West-Northwest and the month of September.
Formed By closing ones hand and laying the other outstretched flat on top of the closed fist.As depicted in the diagram
Rolant could easily read this page. Maybe because of the ease of the hand seal. Or maybe because it seemed perfectly untouched.Rolant compared his seal to the diagram and deemed his hand seal pefect and moved on to the next sign. The Dragon.
* in the blank margins of this page someone seems to have alliterated to the "doggie style"...should we explain more?
Dragon: Ryu x
Ryu is the Fifth sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Dragon. It is associated with East-Southeast and the month of March.
Formed By crossing the middle, index, ring fingers and the thumbs while lightly touching the pinkies together. As depicted in the diagram above.
Rolant could make out this page aswell. Some of the writing was a bit smudged but still readable from his point of view. He looked back and forth at the diagrams a few times but formed the hand seal perfectly on the first try. Rolant flipped the page to the next hand seal, The Rabbit.
Rabbit: Usagi x
Usagi is the Fourth sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Rabbit. It is associated with East and the month of February.
Formed by pointing the pointer finger and thumb upward and touching the webbing of the two hands. Such as in the diagram above.
Rolant concentrated hard on the text of the page but...he couldn't make heads or tails out of it. Even the pictures where smeared and blurry. The diagram didn't help much either. Luckily, Rolant could tell what the picture was doing. He then compared his finished hand seal the the diagram and found it was satisfactory enough. Rolant then flipped the page to the next hand seal, The Horse.
Horse: Uma x
Uma is the Seventh sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Horse. It is associated with South and the month of May.
Formed by Crossing the middle, ring, and pinkies while lightly touching the pointer fingers together. as depicted in the diagram above.
Rolant easily managed to form the horse hand seal without much delay. The diagram was pristine and easy to follow. Rolant deemed his hand seal adequate enough and flipped the page to the next handseal. The Ox.
*In the blank margins of this book a pencil drawn picture of a horse with some.... exaggerated features...is crudely drawn into the page.
Ox: O-ushi x
O-Ushi is the Second sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Ox. It is associated with North-Northeast and the month of December.
Formed by crossing ones hands and interlacing the middle and ringfinger of one hand into the other hand. As depicted by the diagram above.
Rolant could easily understand the text and pictures of the hand seals but this one seemed a bit odd to him. He formed the hand seals as the diagram depicted it. He deemed his hand seal adequate and flipped the page. The next hand seal, The Monkey.
Monkey: Saru x
Saru is the Ninth sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Monkey. It is associated with West-Southwest and the month of July.
Formed by grasping ones hands together. As depicted in the diagram above.
Rolant sighed as he formed the easiest hand seal ever. Of course he wouldn't get this one wrong. Rolant turned the page to the next hand seal, The Ram.
*The blank margins seem to have a group of monkeys throwing...oh my god...thats disgusting...
Ram: O-hitsuji x
O-Hitsuji is the Eigth sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Sheep. It is associated with South-Southwest and the month of June.
Formed by overlapping ones hands to where one hands middle and pinkies are covered by the top hands middle and pinkies. As depicted in the diagram above.
Rolant thought this seal was simple enough. He formed the seal mostly without any problems. The only problems he had was the dstracting images of a poorly drawn figure "Ramming" something alright....the nerve of some people. anyway, it was time for Rolant to move to the next symbols. The next onebeing The Ray
