Once a leader, always a leader. The one to charge headfirst into battle, the one to defy all logic and reason for their own beliefs-
The one who would see others fall.
A shrill shriek of the air itself as something, almost slow-motion, formed in the Reaper's hands: a glowing blue and gold-tipped base, followed by the curved, almost ornate sickle shape. A loud crack and then a strange, whining hiss as the two forces collided.
The impact had been brief, light.
Yet it had been enough. The singing had been broken, and along with it the spell. The strange feeling of loss, the boxed-in wall of emptiness shattered in that single moment. The students were still here, were still at the pool, they had almost lost everything, they had almost submitted. No, this was not about surrendering, dying, this was not about broken promises and dreams-
- They were awake now, perhaps truly and clearly for the first time. Defenders, DETH, Scream even, it did not matter. It was almost unanimous now what the decision was, from student to student, race, faction, belief.
They would fight.
OOC: FINAL BATTLE - All students who DID NOT ESCAPE can now fight this round! You can use ONE battle turn, Fear attacks, etc etc at your disposal. If you have a Fear attack in fact, NOW WOULD BE THE TIME TO USE IT. - You can only attack ONCE this round but you have unlimited RP reactions

Vel was still in a half conscious state. At least until she felt something sort of push her aside to rush forth at the reaper before them. Red's words resonated deep within her, and it did rather well to break her from whatever was holding her. Shaking her head rapidly, she soon snarled at the figure before them.
He was doing this to them. Seeing Red rush forth for the attack also inspired the Raptor.
They would fight. Together. Once her senses were back, she rushed in after her fearless leader, looking to back her up. The claws on both her hands and feet lashed out wherever they could, but unfortunately over the past three years, she had never really been able to master her FEAR. Her strikes were too wild and uncontrolled. There was no precision in her moves. She took little to no time to aim. And as a result, she ended up striking nothing but the air itself.

It was probably more the fact that she had been trampled along the way than anything else being the reason she finally came to. In the haste to get to her target Quin was no more than an obstacle to Red as she plowed through them. As the world seemed to settled back in around her the haze finally lifting Quin managed to stagger to her feet.
A snarky remark would be waiting for Red after this. Something likely involving huge feet but for now the vampire focused in on the problem. Everyone's problem. This reaper was no longer a simple issue he was a threat. Not only to them but to all of Amity.
Quin attempted to will herself forward wanting to fight but her limbs were still catching up to this lucid state she had suddenly found herself in. The blanket had been lifted but the chains had yet to come off.

His head was spinning, throbing, thundering with pain. It seemed like all he knew was pain anymore. Somewhere outside in a trance Sammy would be grimmacing the whole time behind those black eyes. How could someone take so much pain? How could any student who could so clearly feel the pain of their wounds fight?
While one ghoul pondered these questions, a boil from the past gave very simple answers.
He roared, his chest splitting open, his spine cracking as it arched back his head seeming to flop almost lifelessly as his true mouth opened wide, arms hung lose at his side by his wings as his tail lashed in the dirt and mud as his chest heaved open wider. Something deep and loud rolling from his maw as a different voice boomed.
"WE WILL NOT LET SOMEONE TELL US HOW TO LIVE OUR LIVES WITH THREATS AND FEAR."
All the students, Red, he thought of each of them as he screamed in rage, people he cared for just like the ghoul on the other side of his memories felt. This was the strength to fight, the strength to die for others and feel no remorse. He thought of others too, of younger brothers, of looming parents who bid him farewell when he left to this place, but all those thoughts vanished filled with one. Stop the man with the scythe.
Just as quick as he opened his maw did he lunge forward dropping down to move on hands and feet crawling across the floor leaping beside the other students. He reared up his chest seeming to close slightly before it snapped open, a thick blast of black acids firing from deep inside his chest towards the glowing weapon of the reaper. He couldn't miss, the light was too bright even for him.

The first thing that snapped him back to his senses was hearing Red's cry. Macthor clutched as his head as he felt his mind begin to clear, slowly tilting his head up so that he could scan his surroundings. What happened? ...What was happening?
His gaze darted towards Red as he watched the werewolf rush forward, and it was with great surprise that he watched a couple of his peers stand up and follow after her. After a moment passed, she sighed, a small, wry smile spreading across his lips. Pushing himself up to his feet, he glanced to the side to regard his bros with a grin. "Haha, looks like it's final boss time, yeah?"
Lightning sparked from his fingers as he stared at the reaper, eyes narrowed calculatingly. Throughout his years here at Amityville, he had learned that his lightning attack was rather...unpredictable. When he wasn't hitting his target, he was hitting his friends or himself. However, if there was ever a time when he needed luck to be on his side, it was now.
It was a good thing that, for the first time in his life, his lightning bolts hit his target instead of just himself.

Pyre was better for wear than most of the others, somehow she was able to break the weird humming and cloudy visions caused by the reaper. For some strange reason, up until this EXACT point... Pyre was unable to realize just who the damn man was.
Red was the one whom brought the spell out though, only SHE caused the final wall to drop and force the hand of all of the students. Oh yeah, they were NOT going down without a fight. Red was the only person the Phoenix had ever seen as a leader, and probably will always stay that way.
Taking a step away from the Musimon, she gave him a nod and a smile before looking towards the reaper again.
Letting out a "SCREEEEEEEEE", which was entirely more avian than anything else, the ghoul summoned her own FEAR to add to the masses. Flames tickled up her arms, and soon spread over her until she was almost a beacon of light in the dark cave. Oh yeah, Flame on.
She charged the reaper, and made certain to unleash that fury with all the others.

There was a chance for taking back a few points. This was the boss battle. Akithor felt it; surely his bros felt it. Watching as the thunderbird attacked first, the ghost boil gained the courage to try himself. "THUNDERSHOCK GO!" Sparks flew around him briefly but as he aimed them toward the reaper, they simply disintegrated. His concentration just couldn't wield his jitteriness right now from his run-in with the nets.

Red seemed to do more than just stop the song and dissipate the fog from within their minds. Her sudden appearance and attack on the reaper brought with her the desire to fight! To live! For the first time bringing them all together as a united front.
This reaper was no ally of theirs. He had proven himself unworthy of such a title more times than one. They had only two options left. The could either attack, or lay down and die like dogs.
Avery was not dying!
With a deafening roar of his own, the behemoth summoned forth his own FEAR. Allowing it to run its course wildly through his body; giving him far more strength then he could ever dream of. It was quite the rush and it filled his vision with a red haze as lunged forward; slamming his body directly into reaper's.

Darkness swam before the vampire's eyes until she finally opened them, only to see the smattered cave ceiling high above her. A few blinks brought more information, sounds and smells and the harsh feel of the ground beneath her. Somehow, she couldn't be sure how, but Melusine had ended up in the cave in the middle of a fight. Slender fingers found her temple and rubbed it slowly as she pulled herself into a sitting position. When she looked around her, she only saw fighting and wounds and other students she knew, but no Acher. When she looked at the target, she wasn't sure what she was looking at. "...What's... Going on?" She asked, uncertain if anyone would reply. But she was confused, lost. "No, seriously! What's happening?" She asked a little louder. Though she might never know why, a deep anger welled inside her.
With a jump to her feet and a few quick runs over to the mysterious figure, Melusine bared her fangs and managed one small bite before she raced backwards. Though usually she would rather have tried for a harder attack, she was still confused, so she didn't attack more than necessary...

As the feeling left, she was still left shaken, and held her sides as she stood behind the others. She's been raised to be a good guard. To protect - but something had gotten past her, invaded, and now it seemed like it would destroy. She'd made a mistake. She hadn't defended at all.
Her tail raised, but it shook, and she didn't step forward.
Had they made a mistake?

Moira woke up, her head swimming - just in time to see Red launching herself at the strange Reaper. For an instant, she thought she'd dreamed everything... the nets, the caves, all of it; that she was back in that first moment when she'd seen Red perform that same action. ... But no, she wasn't. This was new. There were new people around her, and people missing. "Norvie," she managed, remembering vaguely that he had been there, the last person to speak to her before she'd gone down. "Norvie?"The others were flying past her, jumping at their target. Moira dimly admired their courage, their inner fire, and then found that she could, in fact, push herself up. She was here, not dreaming, not still immobile. She could participate. She could defend. With an effort, the headcrab zombie pushed herself to her feet, reaching back to grab hold of Vance. Grimly, she slung the poison headcrab into the air; Vance instinctively tucked himself up to be more aerodynamic. He bit upon impact, driving poison into the bite before tumbling to the ground, skittering back towards her. "Good boil..." she said, blearily. ((Tainted Fang Y3: HIT! Skylar awoke with a start. His body trembling slightly as he sat up, confused.
He had been so close. So close to losing everything and everyone and there was nothing he could have done to stop it.
Why?
Wasn't the reaper trying to reason with them? No one had attacked so why did he cast them under such a spell?
Zeke..? Ava..?
He didn't see either of them. It was hard to tell who and where everyone was with all the fighting going on. Not to mention this mass amount of FEAR and destruction in the cave. The situation was chaotic at best. Just about all the students around him were attacking now; having made up their minds about the reaper. They would fight him with all they had. As would he.
The gargoyle threw himself into the fray, lashing out with claws viciously with an intent to kill.
There was no point in trying to understand the reaper now. No point in reasoning with him. He deliberately tried to kill them all, making enemies out of every single one of them.

Even after everything had snapped back into its proper place, when the stunning lure of that sweet song was really, truly gone this time, Taru didn't quite step back into reality until Bee lapped worriedly at her face. She couldn't help laughing, then, setting the little cerbpuppy down at her feet with a pat to his back.
"Sit, Bee," she commanded, raising her eyebrows and giving him the look, indicating that she really meant it this time. She was about to bring it, and that was no situation for her puppy to be in.
She rolled her shoulders and took the opportunity for a nice stretch before smiling at the reaper. It melted away into stifled giggling, devolving into laughter; he had no intentions of giving them a choice, did he? Settling instead for charming them with tricks and illusions to manage Jack-knew-what against them was a mistake. They were stronger than that. And they were stronger than this reaper, all banded together, after professors abandoned them and fates betrayed them. It was only Amityville now, representing Halloween. The graduating class as it should be, powerful and persistent.
"You made a mistake, sir, comin' in here and thinkin' that you could outsmart us. We've had about enough of that now. Enough of all of your talks of knowledge and choices and all of that, too. You don't mean it. You never meant it. And I don't take lyin' lightly."
Her FEAR came as an urgent surge of gathered power, and she was laughing again, hard enough to nearly bring herself to tears. Shaky hands extended before her as she rained down a small monsoon of falling stars upon the reaper, each exploding in a brilliant display of starbursts and shimmering fireworkds.

His question had been unanswered, his body close to harm when he asked the Reaper.
And he fell victim to that same song that everyone else did. He could see his thoughts disappearing, his memory fading into nothing.
He looked over and he saw Selene, the only ghoul he loved clutched in the arms of another man....and it didn't bother him. Why should it? Who was Selene anyways? What was it she was important...why was this important?
For a brief moment, he almost lost himself completely. And then Red's shrill cry broke whatever the spell was and he awoken. New. Almost new. His face flushed with embarrassment. This reaper was a let down, a fraud, A sneak. And Arcana was done being foolish enough to trust him.
He pulled out his cards, lighting them with a serious look in his eye. He wasn't a battler, wasn't a fighter. he looked briefly at Selene who had slid to clutch Malcolm and smiled.
But he had something worth fighting for. So He let his Tarot cards fly, straight at the reaper. His magic was weak but...damage had still been done.
"Selene...." He hurried back over after his attack, looking up at Malcolm. "Thank you for holding her. I won't be so foolish next time....May...May I have her back? That is...If Selene wants too?" He held out his arm, hoping that Malcolm would accept the sign of respect, as well as waiting for Selene to come back into his arms.. "Selene....I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you, I shouldn't have trusted so blindly and taken whatever help he gave...." His face burning at the amount of affection he was showing as he bent down, lightly laying a kiss on the Ghoul's forehead before swinging back. "Do you forgive me?"

d**k
It wouldn't have even taken Red's motivation to get the cockatrice trying to kick the hunter's a** - Liam had pissed him off!
He was right there with Vel when it came time to start opening a can of whupass on the false-reaper, a stone seeming to grow over his fists as he moved forward and swung one of the heavy limbs against the humanoid being.
Such a pain in the a**, but Red was completely and absolutely right - they weren't going down because one measly little man told them to! No, they were going to kick some a**, take some names, and make this man remember to not ******** with the Defenders in the future.
"Don't you think you can just come up in this joint and mess with us! We're the future and we'll put you in your ********' place!"
A bit high from the surge of adrenaline through the group?
