As he thought of a way to explain it, Tsuki would lay on his belly, joining in on the snickering. "Ok." Chael would say "You know those bedtime stories of Pokemon like Zapdos or Entei. They exist but are so strong and so rare, there are only one of each in existence. A Master Ball is rumored to be the only thing that can catch one." Everyone seemed to get the joke except him. Yet that scowl on Nolan's face vanished when Chael mentioned Zapdos, and his expression turned into one of disbelief instead. Yet why would Chael lie to him? That would be some kind of sick joke. Looking at the Yamask now in new light, he DID feel pretty bad for just sicing Valor on a much weaker pokemon. Candlejack seemed to share in his bad feelings, still sitting on Nolan's palm, but now he floated up and over to the grieving Yamask, illuminating it. "If you say so ..." Nolan did the only thing that seemed humane and didn't even have to throw the Pokeball. Once he had it out, the Yamask perked back up and headed over to Nolan, thinking that the boy would finally get into his Masterball. Instead it was Yamask that went right into the pokeball, the purple ball falling and rolling a little on the ground. Nolan picked it up to inspect it as the newly captured Yamask was zapped away to the PC. "If they're so great, why aren't all our Pokeballs made like Masterballs?" Post 280 That was a good question. But the answer came quick. "A Pokemon can fight being caught in a Pokeball. A Great Ball makes more hard and an Ultra Ball makes it harder. A Master Ball uses so much energy, it can overpower any Pokemon's willpower to escape. It costs a lot of money to make." he explained, not noticing his Croconaw glow, fight evolution, then revert back to a Croconaw. A uncommon and two common Pokemon dashed by, but he ignored them. "Oh ..." Why was it so many people knew so much more than he did? Was Nolan really that secluded at home with just his family that he didn't even know what a Masterball was? Yup, pretty much. Sheepishly, he took a look at the Masterball, turning it in his hand. "I wonder how much money I could exactly get for this thing, and why did a Yamask have one? Weird." Thinking out loud, Nolan pocked the purple ball, and right away he was pretty sure what he really wanted to do with it. He smiled a little. And once again, Nolan did notice that thing that Chael hadn't been seeing for quite some time. Feeling braver with Candlejack and Valor at his side, Nolan finally just went and said it, despite any dirty looks from Argos. "Um ... Chael, did you know that your Croconaw keeps fighting his own evolution? He's been doing that for awhile now. Is something wrong with him?" Post 281 Chael would shrug. "I dunno." was all he said. All he knew was that it wasn't best to question WHY one got a ball that could catch a diety level Pokemon. Just simply hoard it for later. And Nolan's attempt would be stumped by eight Pidgey and two Ralts, all yelling a battle call. He tossed two Pokeballs but they got away. Sending out Lizzy, he said "Fried chicken time. Use Spark!" The Zebstrika rammed into the ground, repelling them. They flew away like no tomorrow. And in that ruckus, Chael didn't hear what Nolan said about Argos. Who was glaring daggers. Chael took out his fossil. Looking up to Nolan, he said "Mind if I rush to the lab for a sec? I wanna see what this will become." Nolan couldn't believe it. What had gotten into all of those birds? And seriously, no seriously, what was it with Chael and attracting the huge flocks of pokemon all at once? Nolan had never seen that happen unless he was with Chael it seemed. A little flustered by all the sudden birds, he just let the thing about Argos slide again. "I ... uh, sure. I need to heal my pokemon and get those technical machines anyway. I'll meet you over by the pokecenter, that is, if you still want to teach Tsuki Return." Parting ways with Chael when they got near the laboratory, Nolan stopped by the mart first, purchasing his TMs. Then walking on, stopped at the pokecenter, buying dinner to eat while his pokemon were being healed. He still had a lot to take care of, but right now he just ate a roast beef sandwich, barely tasting it while he was thinking about what he was going to do with all the pokemon he didn't exactly want to keep anymore. Catching Yamask had certainly brought the subject up again with him. Sighing, Nolan checked his pokedex and loaded the new TMs to teach them to his pokemon once he got them back from the nurse. Waiting up for Chael, Nolan considered running back to the Ruins to meet up with Des again. Would he even be there? Nolan hadn't exactly planned to be back in Blyse so soon, but where else was he going to sleep? To Valerian's LabPost 282 Nodding, Chaem dashed off. Argos and Tsuki followed Nolan to the Pokemon Center, so their trainer wouldn't have to worry about a group. Along the way, he came across a Ralts, a male with Trace. Very nice. Throwing a Pokeball, he managed to catch it and named him Ace. With that he entered the lab. Speak of the devil, and lo and behold, he appears. It was all a chance meeting though that right when Nolan was beating himself up over catching pokemon too many pokemon, Gage walked into the pokecenter. Glancing over at the kid, he waved a little jaunty hello. "S'up, kid. What's got you so down? You being treated good by that Litwick I traded you?" Surprisingly, Nolan did really like his Litwick, Candlejack, and Gage laughed when Nolan asked if he was feeling any better. Well, long story short, Gage got another shiny pokemon out of Nolan, as well as a few others, and this time for nothing. Neither mentioned the Masterball they got with each of their own Yamask, paranoid that the other might suddenly mug them in their sleep. But the Rare Hunter picked up a Torkoal, a Shinx, Shedinja, Swellow, and the silver-masked Yamask, promising enthusiastically that he'd find them all good homes with rookie trainers. And Nolan got peace of mind in return, thinking it was better than just releasing them. With the handful of new pokemon, Gage was gone again before Nolan had time to reconsider or go back on his word. Pretty sure he didn't just get ripped off, Nolan didn't miss the glare Chael gave Gage, yet he only had to wonder why it was so severe. Personally, Nolan didn't think Gage was that bad of a guy at all, which was why he trusted him with the pokemon he had extra. But he was getting lost in his thoughts again and noticed too late that Chael was on his way out. Jumping out of his seat, he tried to catch the other trainer before he left. "Chael, wait! Don't you want me to let you borrow my TMs? I don't know the next time we'll be in a pokecenter at the same time." Nolan nodded. "Sure, I don't mind that at all. I don't need a Fire Stone for anything and I even have two from the Ruins." For the trades he used Servine both times, knowing she would be the most understanding of all his pokemon. And the least likely to freak out. Nolan handed the Grass Snake the Fire Stone, recalled her again, and placed her pokeball in the trade machine. Getting Tsuki in return, Nolan quickly ran the TM through his Pokedex for the Umbreon to learn, teaching Return instead of Tackle. He took the Leaf Stone, gave Tsuki a rub between the ears, then stuck the pokeball right back into the machine to get his Servine back. Nolan repeated the process for Bruce, teaching the Fighting type Bulldoze like Chael wanted. After all the correct pokemon were back with their correct trainers, Nolan paused, checking through his items quickly to make sure everything was back to normal. "Anything else I can help you out with? I can look for an Eevee too, but why do you want one when you already have Tsuki?" Post 286 CoverFossil: 4 "Thanks." Chael said after everything was set. He managed to rub the lower chin of Servine before taking the Fire Stone and trading her back. Sending out the Umbreon, Chael put a hand behind his head. "Tsuki's evolution was accidental. I wanted to evolve him into an Espeon but he ran around and battled Gage, evolving at the wrong time of day: night. And I like Espeon's a lot too. They're popular back at Goldenrod." he explained. Another reason was that Umbreon's were rarely seen without their counterpart and vise versa. Plus he needed a psychic type that was known from loyalty. "Any name ideas for Servine?" he asked like several days ago. It felt weird to call somebody by their species. Like calling Chael or Nolan 'human' as a name. Now Nolan shook his head. "I don't know, she's really hard to name. I've had some ideas but none of them sound very good. It feels like I should give her a human name, she's as smart as any person I've met. But it would be weird calling her something like Julianne or Amanda." Present at the moment, Servine smirked, looking very proud to receive such compliments from her trainer that she had to preen a little. She flicked her leaf tail and stood tall, knowing she was the best of the whole team, no matter how big Dosu was, and ferocious Valor looked now. Besides she was in a good mood after being so useful and getting a chin rub too for all her trouble. "If you have any ideas, I'm open for suggestions. But yeah, I don't mind helping. We can both look for an Eevee, split the load, and then you can get the pair twice as fast."
