"Luminette..." Lucien reached for her cheek hesitantly, hoping to feel her soft skin once more, but jerked his hand away at the last moment. She probably wouldn't like it even if he could touch her spirit. "I....I'm sorry..." he said as he looked away from her. "I never meant for things to end the way they did....I don't even remember what we fought about that day. You probably hate me the way I snapped at you like that. If I could, I'd take it all back in an instant. If I hadn't scared you off, you'd still be alive." he hung his head in guilt as his wings wrapped partially around him, wanting to hide though he knew he couldn't now. "I just came here to apologize, and say I'm sorry. You don't have to forgive me, I know it's too late for that. I just wanted the chance to try and make things right with you."

"I don't hate you. I never did." Luminette seemed saddened that he'd even think that she would. She reached her own hand out to touch his, but instead of soft flesh he would only feel a frosty emptiness. "You aren't the only one to blaim. It takes a large bit of witlessness to run out into a raging blizzard for what should have been nothing more than a tiny hissy fit." A small chuckle followed her words. Even now, she wasn't afraid to snark at her own demise. "If you want to make things right, just live your life to the fullest. And stay away from me. Girls like me, too. We're nothing but trouble." She then stepped a few feet back, her spectral hand slipping away from his just as quickly. "Even if I hadn't died, my existance alone would've brought you nothing but misfortune and misery. It might be best that I ended as I did, alone and forgotten." Oddly enough, a bright smile now took place upon her lips despite the sorrow so clearly evident in her voice. After that, she vanished from sight. At least, for the moment.

"That's a lie!" Lucien said suddenly, looking up from his guilt though she was no longer there. "Luminette, you were the best thing that happened to me since I was turned into this monster. I was genuinely happy for the first time in ages, and you didn't care in the slightest about what I was. I don't care what you say, I won't forget you, or what you did for me!" he said, his gruff voice filled with a certain desperation. He didn't want her to go, not now.

Luminette did not reappear, although her whimpering could clearly be heard. She was trying her best to handle the situation without making any promises of return, but he was making it difficult. She knew he wouldn't let this be goodbye, and she knew that she couldn't dare lie about passing on. Luminette didn't know what to say or do.

When he was only met with her sobbing as a response, Lucien's wings drooped. It seemed there wasn't much else to say. "Thank you, Luminette..." he said as he turned to walk back toward his castle. "...and....I love you..." he said softly before leaving.

"You...you what?" Luminette sounded rather surprised to hear what she did, so much so that she couldn't hide herself like she so wished. She stood near the crevice in which her corpse was trapped, her eyes locked on Lucian from where she stood. She looked all teary eyed and confused. To be honest, she was quite frustrated with herself. She knew she was a danger, and that things would never be satisfying for either of them since she was nothing but a ghost even if she did slink her way back into his life. (Not even love can overcome death, after all.) Still, she'd always longed for those words. When she tried to let them out herself, well, one can't quite say that the results were what she was aiming for.

"I love you, Luminette." Lucien said again as he stopped and looked back at her one last time. "I only regret not realizing it sooner, or perhaps you'd still be alive and happy." A sad smile could be seen tugging at his cruel features.

"I love you too. I always have." Luminette admitted, before letting out a heavy sigh. "I wanted to tell you how I felt that day. That's why I got all dolled up like this, that's why I put the white roses in my hair like that silly old village superstition said I should." A sad chuckle escaped her lips. "Well, the joke's on me. My confession failed. Can't have failed any harder, seeing as how I'm dead." Once more she laughed at herself, attempting and perhaps failing to cheer herself up with such morbid humor.

Lucien grunted in pain suddenly and gripped his chest. He fell to one knee as a whirlwind of magical energy picked up around him, lifting him off his feet and leaving his body before dissipating in the air entirely. To love and be loved in return. The conditions for breaking his curse had been met. Once the light show was over, a handsome, albeit shocked and confused young man remained standing in the snow looking himself over. "'To love and be loved in return'...." he murmured to himself, his voice no longer gruff and monstrous. "The curse...Luminette, you did it!" he cried happily, running back to her spirit and enacting the facade of holding her ghostly hands in his. His eyes were starting to tear up and it could be seen on his face just how bittersweet the moment was. He finally found his love and was human again, but it was too late for them to enjoy it.((I have been sitting on that picture for this moment for so long you gaiz you have no idea.))

"I...How...what?" Luminette looked utterly shocked and confused, not quite understanding what had just happened for several moments. When it finally clicked, she didn't know whether to look happy or depressed. After several more moments, she gently asked, "What..what are you going to do now that you have your humanity back?" In all honesty, Luminette felt rather useless. What was she to do? Was a congratulations in order? Was she to lament her demise for the millionth time over?

"I....don't know....I never really gave it much thought before." Lucien said with a sad chuckle. "But I think I have an idea....I'll find a way to bring you back Luminette." he said with a sad smile, tears starting to stream down his cheeks as he brought a hand up to caress the air that was her cheek. "I don't want things to end like this for us. Not when they've only just begun."

"I don't know if that would be possible, unless it involves possession, an artificial body, or something far too ghastly to consider." Luminette admitted, looking away from Lucien for a moment in uncertainty. "Are you...are you sure you want to even bother with me? I've always been cursed. I...I can't promise that things won't end on a note any less tragic than before."

"You forget who you're talking to." Lucien said with a small chuckle. "You accepted my curse without a second thought; it would be cruel of me to reject you now because of one. Whatever it takes, I'll find a way for us to be together."

"Even though I'm... I'm a b*****d witchborne?" Luminette asked ever so meekly, only admitting this to Lucian for the first time. She'd hidden it for so long, especially since she knew that Lucien had been cursed by a witch himself - possibly even by her mother, considering the circumstances.

"Even then." Lucien said with a loving smile. "I may not be terribly fond of the hag that forced me to hide in my castle alone for several centuries..." he said folding his arms. "...but that has nothing to do with you. After all, you're not the one who put the curse on me."
