Oddly, among the sounds of stone clashing against steel, the sound of liquid striking the floor would appear. It was not the left over ice of Genn's attack melting, but as Excell would be able to see quite clearly; blood splattering against the floor at Raven's feet.
Blood, a thin red trail, would spill between Raven's fingers as he held his hand in an all too tight fist. If the elder man hadn't noticed it before, he was almost certain to now. The edge in the child's voice "A short sighted view. In comparing the quality of one experience over the other, you forget the significance of many" The boy was working hard not to bite his tongue now, less he pierce it "The experience gained by the victory of one man, does not compare to that of another who has won, but experienced failure a dozen times prior."
"The mind controls all, if it fails to function, if the will to live no longer burns...it doesn't matter how healthy the body is. Wounds of the heart and soul can be just as crippling as those of the body" Raven stated, half growling "A man with one arm, no legs, but the will to keep fighting will always be better then the man who is whole and provides no resistance."
"Pain of the heart and mind can heal, but it is more prone to scarring then the body. Emotions are both the most powerful and most fragile part of any human" Raven had his head tilted now, his hair shielding his eyes from view. If they had been, the Gym Leader would have witnessed nothing but anguish smouldering in the child's eyes.
Elsewhere, Genn's response would be fairly simple. Thrusting into tail into the floor once again, the Steelix would coil his body tightly, cementing himself into place. He simply had to be sturdier then the attack being thrown at him.

(10 - 8 + 13 - 13 = 2x2 = 4dmg))
It was slight, but it would cut through the pokemon's defense to hit. That earth power that slams into his opponent's skin ....as the Steelix would feel that blow even as she grin lightly.
She had so far taken no damage, while ...that Steelix had constantly been punish for his attacks. A smirk on her face as stood ready for his next attack.
"Patiences, is something that the young never understand."
"If the body is healthy there is a chance for the mind Recover. To fight again, but if the body is broken and the mind healthy and whole ....it would only be to madness the body will fall ...if there isn't any way to do something for the body."
"It is true that a man with very little can stand against a man with no will, but how about one that has taken a mental injury?"
"I have seen those of that kind ....that can be more terrifying that any mere cripple can become." "For their injury seems to lead to greater strength of body, and without the mental will to guide it utter chaos."
"It's like a sword without a hilt." "It can cut into the body of the wielder, but can still be used as weapon." "While a broken blade ....is completely useless, for there is little that can be done with such a blade other than to get rid of it."
"Emotions are important ...the heart is important, but, without a body to encase, to protect it, ......it is nothing." "Nothing whatsoever."
The man was completely oblivious to the trouble he had started. He had seen blood from his opponent enough that he didn't think of it odd in a conversation, and the heat of his profession made it impossible for him to tell that smoldering anger as nothing more than quiet determination.
That was a mistake, but one that he couldn't nor would recognize until it was too late.

"Ok. This definitely looks like a harder ecosystem. Let's try to be careful, we're just passing through." Tsuki said to his Pokemon, all in their balls. He secretly hoped he'd see the Riolu was better, just to be sure. He kept his eyes wary for anything strange or deadly.
He had the feeling of a coming doom. The Pokemon here would be twice his Pokemon's level now. Damn Barney. Plus he had no Pokeballs to get extra Pokemon that could help.
((If we count my last post at well then. Also considering I have no items, money, or new Pokemon what happens when I get 5/5 injuries? Do I wake up O the beach? In the Pokemon center?)) 2/5 Inj:2/5

((Yup, but you might short something else if that happens))
His first steps into the area would bring him upon a Burmy of all things. The pokemon nestle amongst the leaves and trees as she snuggled there for her afternoon nap. She couldn't help hearing the sound of feet crunching upon foliage, a fact that wasn't just strange, but almost unheard of.
Feet, human footsteps as she looks up from her nestle of leaves in alarm. Humans aren't allow in this place, this is their lands. As her eyes narrowed she would literally turn sideways and roll outwards to greet him. Coming to a stop by his feet, she would be settles back upon her own leaves so she is standing upwards. Glaring daggers at him as she looks at the boy ...she wouldn't allow him any further upon their lands.

"No, even a broken blade can be lethal in the right hand. Shattered, such a weapon will not last for long, but the metal becomes jagged...it can still cut and pierce, dealing far more brutal damage then any straight edged blade" Raven locked his jaw for a second after he spoke, seeking to keep his teeth from grinding against one another.
"You speak of a chance...but it is nothing more then that, a chance...far more likely the body will follow before the mind can recover" He clenched his fist tighter, causing his head to bleed more profusely "Strength can be found, but so too can madness."
"Emotions are eternal, the body is not. The will and heart of one can be carried by another in passing..." Raven began grinding his teeth once again "So don't.YOU.DARE.IMPLY THEY'RE ANY LESS IMPORTANT!" Raven roared, then just as abruptly went silent. Breathing ragged, the boy struggle to slow his breathing with a series of deep breaths. "Emotion is like a piece of driftwood to a man lost at sea. Sometimes it's all that keeps you alive...and for their sake a man can push far beyond the limits of the body...."
Genn would barely move as he took the damage. The harm was there, but as usual the Steelix was all but entirely oblivious to it. As always, his focus was only the rush of excitement, of adrenaline he got by being in the battle.
It was true the Shieldon was winning this fight, but only by virtue of her natural defences...of resistance. Her stance was consistently weak, were he more the powerhouse type the ancient Pokemon would be hurting just as badly as he was right now. As it stood, that wasn't the chance...but perhaps not for long. Uncoiling, rising up, the Steelix would allow the increasingly familiar frostiness appear in his breath. Icicles would encase his teeth, and once more he would lunge forward at the Shieldon. Third time was the charm after all, and he intended to prove it with another Ice Fang!

"I do dare to imply, for without the body ...the heart can't touch another. It needs mobility to reach beyond it's self, a shatter blade might be able to cut and pierce ....but pit it against a sword without a hilt. And it is the ability to reach that will out do it everytime."
"The heart and will can be carried onwards by others, but only if that heart can touch another." "IF it can't be moved, but is trapped within a shell that is falling apart taking it with it....that heart will simply vanish." "As oppose to someone succumbing to the lost of their mind that had been mobile to touch many hearts before hand."
"Their legacy can live on, because of the fact that the body allowed that touching of hearts."
"No, a mind is a terrible thing to lose, emotions vital, but it's the body that makes it all possible. That gives the heart a home, a mind ability to exercise it's will."
"And don't you dare tell me otherwise, youngster."
"You have only been alive long enough to see the side of one, but not the other." "OF those born with no ability to move, suffering horribly until there is nothing left. Making those that stand beside them suffer a hundred times more than if that body was healthy and house nothing within."
"In which, you can simply take solace in the illusion of no pain."
"No, you speak of cuts of the heart and soul." "They take longer, but can heal." "I talk of those of the body ...that will never heal, and the best you can do is simply learn to adjust."
"Knowing you can never get back what you lost."
The man was working himself up into a heat as well. The blood that dripped upon his floor no different from the blood that had been split there many times before.
The Shieldon wouldn't fall for the same trick twice as she jumped backwards this time. Just barely avoiding his fangs as she slammed her feet against it. It was true her ability made the differences, but it wasn't all. It was the differences in their experiences, for if she had been a bit weaker ...her experiences less. There would have been damage, there would have been pain ....as she slides to a stop.
As she raised her body upwards once more and slam it home just as powerfully as she tries to once more sent the ground in an upheaval as she used Earth Power once more.

((Yeah, Burmy is a bit useless as more than a diversional tactic at best here))
Burmy didn't even take that seriously. That suggestion ....as protect would form around her ...though she had other ways to use protect that might actually frighten those that had thought that she was quite useless.
Though first she wanted to make sure she wouldn't be harm herself, and then she would put her own plan into action.

Only the Burmey would have nothing to use Protect from. Prime had been defending. Once it wore off Primes eyes flashed a brilliant green. "Good job on the Leer buddy." Tsuki said after the Mankey's eyes stopped glowing. They'd keep a slight distance while trying to lower their defense. Hey, at least he had a strategy!

(+5 to accuracy roll until attack phase))
The Burmey simply rolled her eyes. IF she had been born as something else, she might have caused a lot more trouble for him ...but that wasn't the case. She was a Burmey, and their greatest strength is their defensive capabilities. Thus, the pokemon only smirks lightly as she hunkers down.

The response to Excell's speech would not come in the form of words, but rather a Rare Bone hurdling through the air, and aimed rather accurately at the man's head.
This would be almost immediately followed by Raven recalling Genn, heedless of the consequences. He could very well be hit by the Earth Power himself, and it would not bother the child; his reasons clear as he spoke "This battle is over, I've nothing to learn by fighting a man who judges those he does not know" The boy spat the words, his tone cold as ice despite the fire in his eyes "Smith was a rather apt job choice...your skull must be as thick as a hunk of raw iron."
Replacing Genn's ball. Raven would wipe the blood off of it gingerly, then grasping his cloak with that hand to absorb the blood and slow the bleeding. "Age does not mean someone is wise, youth does not mean one lacks experience" He stated, his for calm now but still retaining a frozen edge "I have witnessed death in many forms...those that died of starvation...of injury and infection...those whom could have yet lived, if not for the choices of the pompous and stupid..." Raven's gaze wavered at that last part; clearly a memory most personal.
"A slow death does not simply cause pain to the dying, but those watching over them, those trying to save them..." Raven closed his eyes a moment, retraining the emotions welling up within him "...a dead heart can reside in a living body."
"I was sent here by my Professor to obtain something...let us be on with that task. My business here is a challenger is over; but I still have a mission as a student" The boy stated, his face and voice losing all emotion in an instant. It was something he'd been trained to do consistently over the years...and with dire consequences if he failed to do so.

"Aw, screw it just use Scratch." Tsuki said finally as Prime sent his fingers slamming down. About time he just attacked. The Burmey had no actual attacks sadly. He almost felt bad. Almost. How a Pokemon could have no actual attacks was beyond him. But he wouldn't sit around using Leer anymore. At least not on this battle. She was strong for sure but he could beat her since all that strength went to defense and absolutely no attack power.

The older man watches as the battle ends. He glares hard at Raven and shakes his head rudely.
"Still just a child."
He mutters.
"I won't force your battle nor belittle your reason for retreating." "But, you might want to talk to your pokemon about this later ...I am sure he won't appreciate what you had done in your own fit of rage."
The man was as cool as Steel.
"I take it you have figured out whom I am." "Tch, too bad, I wanted to play some more."
The man would recall his Shieldon even as he would take out an extra item for him. This time it is simply a Rawst berry as he toss it towards Raven.
"This is for healing your Steelix as the rules dictate."
"As for what your Professor has asked of me ....I will be forging a weapon." "Take that back, you already have a weapon, so I will be ...how to put it modifying it." "For this process I need you to get me a few things. A metal coat, for one, and for the second item ...I need to see your starter to determine it."

"It was sort of hard to miss the red-head" Raven responded, arching an eyebrow. One would have to be blind, or a complete moron not to notice the exchange with...what was her name again? A...something or other. He'd met her before at least. A classmate he'd encountered during the events on Mirage Island.
Raven would catch the Rawst Berry with relative ease, reaching back and placing it in his usual item pouch. Whether he chose to actually use it for it's intended purpose, or right away, was his decision. It would mean being down a Pokemon; but Genn could likely wait.
Upon request of his starter Pokemon, the boy would remove the foremost ball from upon his belt, tossing it forward and releasing the beast cradled within.
Unlikely the massive and imposing Steelix released before, now standing before the man would be a Charmander riddled with scars, and wearing a surprisingly placid expression. Flicking his tail, the reptile would tilt his head curiously at Excell. Sniffing the air, Fable would immediately look back to Raven for direction...and a growl would erupt in his throat.
Raven had wiped the emotion from his voice and face, but his body language spoke volumes. In the span of a single flicker, the Charmander's tail would burst into a raging inferno; his blue eyes narrowing dangerously as he looked back to the hulking man before them. The reptile didn't know who this man was, or what he had done, but Raven seemed to detest this individual; that alone, was good enough for him.

Yet the weaponsmith had a respect for fire, but no fear. He worked too closely to the heart of it to find himself showing any kind of tremble and the flames of a enraged Charmander didn't seem to make him look twice at him.
"You will also need a fire stone, so you will be traveling to two areas to find what you need." "The first area will the cavern past the residentual area, and the second will require that you go hunting different pokemon on the other side of the island."
The Weaponsmith declares to him.
"This means, I need to give you two pokeballs for the task."
He would unclip them as he held them out for the boy to take.
"That gives you a choice on how you are to gain that last item." "YOu can capture a pokemon with metal coat, or simply hope somehow to take it from them.
