Good Idea: Allowing your visions of galactic domination culminate in the building and use of a massive superweapon, the size of a small moon, capable of completely destroying entire planets, including those that house your enemies.
Bad Idea: Having said superweapon having some sort of fatal flaw that allows it to be instantly destroyed by two wel-placed proton torpedos shot by some sort of un-trained farmboy, maybe force sensitive, thus immensely hampering your vision of galactic domination.
