"I can't find a way to say 'I quit' that doesn't result in my horrible death. That, and, I don't have any way to ensure my security in the future." Esma replied with a small frown. "I don't have a wealthy suitor or any notable talents, so unless I could get a safer job cleaning elsewhere, I'm stuck here until Kale finally decides to kill me."

Lucian's stomach churned, his pointed ears perked to listen to Dema. The first two words made his heart thump for his friend. Wait! When had he begun caring this much about Voit? He didn't know. His ears listened carefully to each bit of information that Dema spouted out. Rules? Yeah, like that would be much help. Did anyone actually listen to rules, like, ever? Lucian certainly didn't - nor did he trust others to. Especially if there were past occurances where people blatantly broke the rules. Her last three words made him sigh. He didn't want to be stuck on the sidelines just wishing for the reaper to be careful. Instead, he'd rather take his own precautions, to add on top of Voit's own scythe. Sure, he could trust Voit to take care of himself, but you never knew. Quietly, he began his ancient elven chant - the first one he'd ever been taught - summoning on his own magics to protect Voit. The magic was weak and would have no effect toward minor injuries, but it would prevent Voit from being maimed or killed. If it went far enough that his magic had to be brought into effect, there was no way that Lucian would just sit by on the sidelines. He would intervene in whatever way he knew how. Even if that meant he would have to kill the contestant trying to kill Voit, he would. That was odd... He actually cared about someone enough to do something like that for them? It just seemed so...out of character for him, at least, in his mind. Ah, well...perhaps Kyrell...and Forge...and all the others that had called them friends were right. Wait - that couldn't be, could it? Was he really friends with Voit? Huh. Perhaps he was. [-Yes. Long post. Insomnia. Boredom.-]

[-I've got an entire weekend~ :3 -]
Despite his enemy not moving, Kyrell did not make a move also, knowing that impatience was one of the seven roads to death taught in early knighthood. He nodded, acknowledging to let his opponent take the first move, seeing as he must be the more cautious one. Worse comes to worst, a magic-user can attack enemies from a distance. Kyrell needed to get up close but not without obstacles. Little did he know about the things going on in the sidelines while the battle was occurring.
Not dropping his cool front, Kyrell kept his right hand on his sword, with his left supporting the scabbard, this time, in a battle stance he only used in situations where quick drawing was necessary. He was an agile combatant but he only took the steps that needed to be taken. Extra moves were a disadvantage in Kyrell's point of view. Since he didn't use shields, Kyrell set his mind to move as quick as possible, only relying on the dragon scales and elven mail underneath his plain-looking, blue tunic. He wouldn't die from blows to his upper body, protected by lightweight armor or to his utility boots but he was still weary of himself, nonetheless.

Just above and behind Lucian and Dema, Brigs sat, his eye trained on the battle arena below. "When I fought that elemental, That flame spell I used was my most powerful one. If I had used that on a mountain you could kiss that mountain good bye. How he survived that spell I have no idea, and what weirder he absorbed it. And Something about that other wizard isn't right. If anyone is going to win this, it'll be one of those two. An elemental that cannot die and a wizard whose powers are greater than he tells. That will be a match up worthy of legend." Brigs had his face set in an intense glare fixed in a stern look of determination. He spoke as if he was serious for once.

Sighing slightly as he saw his opponent wasn't going to make the first move Kale shook his head leaving his stance as he stood there pulling the fork out of his side pocket before tossing it at Kyrell as it tinked harmlessly off his armor before falling to the ground infront of him. "Well guess it don't work twice" Jacob said with a bit of a chuckle and a shrug.
Moving his hand tho Kale didn't hesitate to send a rather weak blade of wind towards Kyrell. If he wasn't going to move the wizard would simply get him to move. He planned to fire off several low strength spells to judge just how strong this knight was. Even tho it was weak getting hit by it would likely still draw blood on someone unarmored.

Kyrell didn't dodge the fork, seeing as it was harmless. He kicked it aside and sighed, not looking for any childish games.
When the blade of wind went towards him however, Kyrell used his agile stance to swiftly cut the wind blade into nothingness with nothing but the speed and some strength to push through. However, a part of it was able to cut through the cloth on his arm. Although he was unharmed, a part of the light-weight mobility-inclined scale armor underneath came into visibility. He chuckled, knowing any common man could discern the quality of his armor when seen.
"It seems you've found out my secret. Now, it's time for me to find out yours." Without hesitation, Kyrell started to run in Jacob's direction at breakneck speed. No untrained eye could have seen how he moved if they saw his shadow fly past. It seems now, he was getting pretty serious. However, he did not intend to bring out all his strength until the situation really did grow serious.

Watching Kyrell Jacob showed atleast he wasn't untrained watching his movement's easily as he waited for him to get closer before seeming to mutter something. He really wasn't tho simply giving the illusion to casting a spell as the ground infront of him burst forwards with spikes protruding from the ground keeping Kyrell back at a distance from him. He had no intent to keep the fight close ranged and planned to keep the knight back at a distance while not showing his magic's to much only enough to give a good show.
The armor the man was wearing would make it a bit difficult for this level of spells to cause serious damage to him but he could still use the lightning spell he had finished the other behemoth off with the last fight. The attack tho would for show purposes need the fork along with a storm cloud. Hmm but should he use it or not the thought ran thru his mind as he fought.

Expecting the magic-user to come up with something, Kyrell stopped in advance and skid to his left as the spikes came up, quickly he circled to the back of the man, jumping and throwing some needles in Jacob's direction. If they had indeed hit Jacob's back, it would have hurt at some point but was simply nothing but an annoying habit, so Kyrell thinks. However, a wimp would have stopped the fight and cringed with pain if those ordinary needles did hit him. Kyrell was gauging how easily the man could block ranged and melee attacks and whether he should take the knives, arrows and other weapons stuck in the walls and on the ground to his advantage.
The needles were child's play but they were definitely useful. Though it did not seem like it, Kyrell was slowly bringing the game on. He hadn't revealed this speed since the start of the competition but even if people did know, he knew some people wouldn't be able to repel him while he moved at this speed unless their reaction time was at a veteran warrior's level. For now, Kyrell decided he'd just cunningly dodge attacks and come up with an impromptu plan once an opening presented itself. Even so, Kyrell was intent on seeing how far the necklace could go when protecting him from offensive magic. Of course, physical things would hurt him as usual but he really wanted to see how elemental magic and 'curses' fared against the 'five gold crystal'.

Before the needles even they simply seemed to have hit something transparent around Jacob's body a layer of wind that protected his back from such a weak attack. Really needles that is what you come up with for such a great Knight your really testing my patients with this prodding the water stuff Jacob thought hoping back away from Kyrell as he watched him his eyes locked onto the Knight as he changed a spell Holding his hand to the side as a vortex seemed to be made within it. "Expellium" Jacob called as he blasted a tempest towards Kyrell hitting the spikes as it tore the earth up combining it with the sudden vortex being launched to add a more physical effect to it.
How much longer was he going to have to play like this it was starting to get annoying wanting to rather destroy every trace of this knight with a single spell. He was going far against his usual self to keep under control enough so that his spells didn't get to powerful beyond the lie he had said and so far was keeping them at a believable level tho it was getting a bit trying keeping there strength down.

Kyrell raised his eyebrow, finding that a hint of irritation appeared on Jacob's face with his silly trick. The magic-user also seemed to be getting serious. This made Kyrell a little more lighthearted since he always loved testing his strong opponents' patience. If indeed impatience wins over, Kyrell knew exactly what to do at that point. Finding a sort of weakness early in the game, Kyrell thought to himself, I found a weakness too early in the game again! I should really slow down a bit.
Then, he noticed Jacob's spell coming into fruition. With a gleam in Kyrell's eyes and a half-smile on his face, he found the opportunity to annoy Jacob even more, taking out a piece of hardened bread and throwing it straight at the magic-user's head, even laughing lightly, snickering as he started to run to the opposite far side of the arena. He heard the unmistakable sound of hard bread slamming into something equally as hard... A cranium, most likely... And he entertained himself with the action.
However, when the tempest began to materialize, Kyrell muttered "Holy hell!" as he scampered away even faster. Thinking on his feet, Kyrell found a chain on the ground and pulled it with a wide grin. He stuck his tongue out at Jacob as he disappeared into the trap door again slammed shut when Kyrell jumped in. Most contestants don't take note that the place used to be a wild animal gladiatorial combat zone and didn't take note of those trap doors and cast-iron gates. Losing his breath, Kyrell slowed down a bit, passing several empty cages until he reached the trap door on the other side, deciding to be sneaky and pop up behind Jacob as he drew his sword out quietly.
When he came up behind the man, he held Jacob's jaw in one hand and pointed his sword at the man's throat with his other hand. " Your master has taught you well. Let's see how you get out of this one, apprentice." He whispered in Jacob's ear from behind.
"Or maybe you should give up now." Kyrell said though he knew his methods were sneaky. He didn't really care right now. He didn't notice any imminent danger either and he was lax, with some confidence in the idea that the magic-user wouldn't be making anymore moves if he feared for his life. He didn't think of the magic-user retaliating either. In fact, he was completely off-guard though he thought he caught the enemy off-guard.
[- It took me about an hour just to think of some way to get out of that wretched tempest! I'm not gonna copy a certain anime where the dude cuts the whirlwind in half though. That's ... A boring way to fight it. Not to mention unreasonable~! And I was playing on Kyrell's capability of being relaxed and enjoying himself in combat... And being annoying in combat~ But well, I was bored and felt like shaking things up~ biggrin What do you think? -]

Kale had been hit by the bread barely paying any attention to it as it was pulled into the tempest as well being used as more fodder for it. Hitting the other side of the arena the tempest easily sliced thru the wooden wall turning the weapons in that part of the combat zone to shrapnel before coming to an abrupt end. "Tch guessing he's gonna come up behind me" Kale said his hand to the side as he simply waited a trickle of light in his hand as he did.
Sure enough he was right as Kyrell popped up "Stealthy" behind him. Closing his eyes Kale let himself be taken as he simply gave a small sigh looking over his shoulder at Kyrell. "You think your act was a stealthy one simply crawling thru the sewers intent before you even popped out to come up behind" Kale questioned not phased by the blade. The barrier of wind around him tho was starting to make deep cuts in the armor that Kyrell wore around the arm of the hand that held his jaw.
"Not quite" he smiled as his form shifted to that of what looked like the princess. "Would you really want to harm me" She asked looking back at him with a pathetic look in her eyes. "Well I might" the figure said shivering suddenly as it suddenly exploded in a watery rain around Kyrell as he was left holding nothing at all. Sitting up on the side of the wall that surrounded the combat area Kale gave a clap for Kyrell as he chuckled slightly. "What was it that you said maybe you should give up now" Kale said swinging his feet back and forth as he sat there looking back at a few of the crowd that was behind him.
Hopping down Jacob landed softly kneeling down as he gave a small sigh he had gotten a bit cut before activating the spell that had been in his hand and had a small trickle of blood running down the side of his neck. Running his hand against it he gave a small wrinkle of his nose. It wasn't anything he hadn't gotten before. It was tho more then he had planned for in the way of an attack upon himself. Holding his hand on the ground Kale gave a small smirk as he looked at Kyrell muttering something. As he did the doors that littered the ground of the ring were sealed the ground below them rising up and pushing against them to where they would no longer allow access.
"Can't have you dodging thru the ground anymore that's just not fair" Kale said his hand to the side as a spark seemed to shiver in it. "You know maybe thinking so little of my fork of truth wasn't the best idea" Kale said with a grin as the fork rose up off the ground sharpening up to that of a blade before shooting towards Kyrell aiming at his face. (*Shrugs* probably just gonna have the wizard quit the match can't have him going full out and destroying the town ^_^)
