"Alright, will do! Oh - and use the conditioner too, if you don't already use that," Avery said, and he left their duplex, quickly heading over to the clinic to borrow a pair of scissors, as well as more shampoo and conditioner (he made sure to get twice as much as normal, considering how much fur there was to wash now). Once Avery got everything he needed, he went back to his duplex, and into the bathroom. He didn't bother knocking, peering in to see if Timothy needed the bottles right away. "I got the stuff, if you need more right now," he said.

"Sure! But I'm going to make you bring it to me." Timothy grinned from behind the shower curtin. He'd used up all of Avery's stuff and it wasn't quite enough.
He wanted Avery to take a peek in though. Timothy really was bad with Avery around.

Avery laughed. "I have a feeling we're gonna run out of this stuff often, what with all the fur," he grinned, and he pulled back the curtain just enough for him to peek in. "Here ya go," he handed Timothy the bottles while he checked him out, tempted to join him in the shower - but he wasn't going to let Timothy distract him from giving the skunk boy a haircut that easily. "Should be enough to last for a while, I hope."

"Thank you." Timothy peaked forward a bit and gave Avery a kiss on the cheek. He then went about finishing up washing his hair and fur. After a few he came out of the shower and then went about the process of trying to dry.
"Do you have any idea how much of a pain this is now... you better know that I love you."

"I know," Avery smiled. "And hey, I'm going to have to put up with it eventually too, right!? It may be a pain, but I'd rather put up with washing all that fur, than be all dirty," he shrugged as he dug through his and Timothy's clothes, trying to put together a nice outfit. He tried not to make it as colorful as he was used to - he only wanted to add some color to what Timothy wore, not change him completely.

Avery Calder Avery rummaged around their clothes for a bit more, before he finally picked out what he thought would look good on Timothy. "Hmm, what do you think? I know I can't get you into rainbows, so this seemed simple enough," he laughed. Avery held up a dark green shirt - almost emerald - against his own chest, and a pair of washed out blue jeans. Timothy Matthews "Yeah, I don't see rainbows being my style. No offense to you of course." Timothy grinned. "But if your so insistent about this." Timothy seemed a bit reluctant, I mean they were only clothes but it didn't feel like that was all Avery was proposing. Still, he did want to show off for Avery. Avery Calder "I am insistent! Trust me," Avery smiled, trying to reassure him. "These'll look good on you, I think. Especially the green, yanno - like your eyes." Avery walked closer to him, holding the clothes out to Timothy. "Pleeease? And I do have good taste in clothes. " He put on a pout again - it worked last time, so he was going to use it to his advantage. "Remember, like I said; if you don't like it you don't have to wear it again..." Timothy Matthews "Alright alright. But you have to do the undressing." Timothy grinned. Being around Avery often made him playful like this. Besides he was enjoying how good his own fur smelled from all the shampoo and his more heightened sense of smell. "And next time I'll make you wash all of this...." Avery Calder "What, is that supposed to be a punishment?" Avery smirked at the other boy. "Ohhh no, I'll have to run my hands all over you, whatever will I do?" he chuckled as he slid his hands under Timothy's shirt, pulling it up over his head. Then he dropped his hands down to Tim's pants, unfastening them, and kneeling down on the floor as he pulled them down his legs. He stayed there, kneeling and looking up at him. "Okay, now you have to put on the other clothes," he said, grinning still. Timothy Matthews "Are you sure you want me to do that? What about just the shirt?" Timothy smiled down at Avery and ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn't trying to be distracting, something about Avery just brought this out in him. Avery Calder "Hmmm, I don't know." Avery smiled, tilting his head and nuzzling the palm of Timothy's hand. "I think you're just trying to get out of wearing the clothes I picked out... why would you want to run around with no pants on?" Of course, he knew what Timothy was hinting at, but he liked teasing him. Timothy Matthews "Who said anything about running around." Timothy smiled and slipped the shirt on. Then he stood up and put on the shirt, then he slid himself into the pants. He zipped them up. "Happy now?" He didn't say it in a mean way, more playful. He was enjoying teasing Avery more than much else. Avery Calder Avery grinned up at him, and stood up. "Yes, very. And I was right - the shirt does go well with your eyes," he commented while looking Timothy over thoughtfully. He walked around him, circling him, reaching out and trailing his fingers along the waistline of the jeans until he was standing in front of Timothy again, his hand still on the skunk boy's hip. "You look very sexy," he said, grinning. "What do you think of it?" Timothy Matthews "It's not bad." He grinned. "Could use a necklace though... not one made of candy that is." Avery Calder "Aw, what's wrong with candy necklaces?" Avery pouted. "They're yummy and colorful, all at the same time! It's the perfect necklace," he nodded. Timothy Matthews "Yes but..." Timothy leaned forward a bit off a piece of Avery's necklaces. "Not quite me." Avery Calder "Mmm," Avery tilted his head a little to make it easier to Timothy to bite the candy of the string. "Good point... what kinda necklace did you have in mind, then? I guess anything edible is out of the question..." he grinned. "I think just about anything would look good - even something black, it'd still show up over your white fur." Avery placed his hands on Timothy's shoulders, sliding his fingers over the fur on his neck. Timothy Matthews "Yeah... lemme think real quick." Timothy walked up to one of his pairs and shoes and pulled out the laces. He grabbed a pair of scissors and snipped off the end of them. "Now if I just had something for the middle, I could see this working."

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ In which there are Dream Journals and Nightmare Pills.
Marlena Frost Dr. Frost had chosen a nearly empty, metal walled room for interviewing Islanders, it's contents consisting only of a desk, a chair behind it, and a chair for the interviewee to sit on. The desk was covered in files, and the room had somewhat soft lighting.
Marlena had not worn her lab coat on purpose, the sweatered, pencil-skirt clad outfit was much more approachable and far less clinical. She had a pencil on one hand, and a steno pad in the other, as she waited for security to escort her first subject in.
At the top of the paper she scribed "Subject: Avery Calder - Male, Golden Retriever, 1 injection." Avery Calder When security had approached Avery and told him that he needed to come with them, he was too terrified to protest. A million things were running through his mind, wondering what he had done, where he was being taken, and for what reason. Did I do something wrong? Am I in trouble? Are they going to inject me again?None of the thoughts were good, and all Avery managed to do was scare himself even more - which was evident in his posture as he was let into the room: his shoulders hunched up a little, ears pressed back against his head, and tail tucked between his legs. Avery shivered, glancing around the room. Well, at least he didn't see any syringes... that was a good sign, right? He raised his eyes to look at the woman behind the desk. "Er..." he wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to say, so he just settled for a timid sounding, "hello?" Marlena Frost Marlena rose from her seat, and in perhaps a most unusual gesture for a subject, rounded the desk and offered a finely manicured hand for Avery to shake. "Mr. Caldwell, a pleasure to meet you. I am Doctor Marlena Frost...I've been brought in as a counselor of sorts, to help you with your transition."
Lies, all of it of course, from the cordial greeting to the transition help. But appearing as a sympathetic figure to set upon victims usually helped endear oneself to them, and earn their trust.
"Would you be so kind as to take a seat? I'll try not to take up too much of your time today." The woman gestured to the chair, comfortable looking, and set directly in front of the desk. "I was hoping to have a couch in here, but rules are rules..." She rolled her eyes as if to mock said rules, and smiled as if sharing a secret with Avery. Avery Calder "It's... Calder," Avery replied, hesitantly shaking her hand when she held it out to him. "Um, and it's nice to meet you too, Dr. Frost." A counselor? Great, so now he was going to have to see a therapist? He held back his sigh, just wanting to be left alone. "Oh, um - yeah, sure. No problem, it's not like I really have any plans today," he said with a shrug, sitting down in the chair in front of the desk. When she smiled at him, he couldn't help smiling back, even just a little - but it did help him to relax somewhat. "So... are you just... gonna ask me how I feel or something?" Marlena Frost "Oh, yes, Calder! That's right. I'm sorry, I'm very new here and I don't quite have all the names right. You'll have to excuse me if I seem a little surprise, Mr. Calder. I was told the residents here had some unusual afflictions but ah, I didn't know they meant you would have...those ears and tail." She affected her most innocent look of surprise and unease, trying to play as if she really had no idea what was going on in this place.
She moved back behind the desk and sat down, acting out some clumsy fumbling with her papers to evoke nervousness. "Um, let me see here. I guess a good place to start would be to tell me a little bit about yourself, before you began, um...changing?" She smiled sheepishly at Avery. Avery Calder She wasn't told what was going on here? Well, that was strange... she sure was going to be in for a lot of surprises, then, he thought. "Oh, that's okay, Calder is a weird last name anyway, lots of people get it wrong - don't worry about it," Avery smiled, shrugging his shoulders. "Yeah... my ears and tail are nothin' compared to what some of the other guys have..." he shuddered as he thought of Billy and his tentacles. "About myself before I started changing? Well, I was happy," he said, his voice suddenly full of bitterness. "I was normal and human, and I didn't have stupid looking ears and a tail I can't control. I was just a normal teenager." Marlena Frost Marlena jotted down a few notes with her pencil. She nodded her head, and propped her chin in her hand, her elbow resting on the desktop. "A happy teenager is an unusual thing. I was miserable as a teen, myself. Where did you live before you came to the island? How did you get here?"
Golden eyes watched Avery with curiosity, but there was an ever so slight edge to her gaze that was almost chilly. Avery Calder "Yeah well... my parents were pretty easy going, I had no complaints about my life," Avery shrugged, feeling slightly uncomfortable under her gaze. "I... lived with my parents, in America. Virginia. I was with them on a cruise ship... and..." he trailed off, feeling uncomfortable. This was the part he hated talking about - usually he was able to avoid going into the details of how he fell overboard. But this person was here to help him, right? At least, that's what she says. He chewed his lower lip for a moment in thought, deciding that no, she didn't need to know all the details of what happened on the cruise liner. "I slipped... and I fell overboard. Rex was on the ship too, and he tried to save me. Then we both washed up on shore here..." Marlena Frost Marlena nodded her head slowly, her eyes scanning the file before her. It appeared that this one was being merged with DNA from a golden retriever. She ran the pencil across her chin before looking back at Avery curiously. "That must have been very traumatic for you. Have you been afraid of the water since then? I think I would have been..."
A golden retriever was a water dog. Marlena posed the question to see if the dog's instincts were outweighing the trauma the teenager had experienced with having fallen overboard. Avery Calder "Actually... I never really learned to swim. Just... never had lessons. If it weren't for Rex, I guess I'd have drowned..." Avery frowned as he remembered the first day he had arrived here. He barely had a chance to get over the fact that they had been shipwrecked when they were suddenly found by some of the more advanced changed islanders. "I guess I'm not afraid of it. Actually, I got some swimming lessons from one of the girls here once... it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be," he shrugged. Marlena Frost "Interesting...." Marlena remarked, jotting down some more notes. "Have you and Rex stayed friends since you've been on the island?" Another pointed question, as relations between a predatory big cat and a domesticated dog shouldn't be very good. Again a case of instict versus humanity.
"Have you made other friends here?" she asked, looking wide-eyed and curious. Avery Calder "Yeah," Avery grinned. "He's pretty much my best friend here! Almost like the older brother I never had. I guess traumatic experiences can be good for bonding, yanno? It helps that he isn't judgemental or anything too. He's a cool guy." He obviously thought very highly of Rex. "I've made a few friends, yeah. There's Awen, and Emelyn, and Ian, and Vasile... and Chubbs and Colche. Most of the people are really nice here. And," he said, a small blush forming on his cheeks. "Tim too." Marlena Frost Ah yes, Tim. Reports showed the two were intimate. Marlena smiled. "Do I sense a little more than friendship there?" She winked. Now THIS was truly unusual. It would be interesting to see if Tim's instincts wound up spraying Avery and landing the boy in a tomato juice bath like most dogs who encountered skunks. The ability of this subject to overcome some instincts regarding who he socialized with was interesting, especially as other instincts seemed to come to the surface. Instincts that were useful prevailed, those that hindered him mentally faltered. Avery Calder Avery couldn't help grinning at the question - and his tail wagged a little against the chair. "Yeah, I guess I can say it's one good thing about being stranded here. I could do without the changing into an animal bit, but I still met Tim... he's really great. We pretty much live together now, but sometimes he stays in his own duplex. Most of his stuff is at my place though." Marlena Frost Marlena grinned a little. "That's great, Mr. Calder. If you don't mind me asking, and I don't mean to pry...were you always inclined towards boys? Or did that develop with your other animal traits?"
She moved from behind the desk to lean back against it in front of the teen's chair, folding her arms in front of her casually. Avery Calder "Nah, I've always liked guys... well, I mean, I realized it when I was... 17, I think. But I'm bi; I still like girls." Avery raised his multi-colored eyes to look up at the woman now standing in front of him, and he wondered for a moment if he should mention Vasile's sudden change in preferences. He quickly scratched the thought out, though - it wasn't his business to talk about it. Marlena Frost Marlena nodded. "In order for me to best help you, Mr. Calder, I'm going to have to ask you some questions that you might not be entirely comfortable with, but I'd really appreciate honest answers."
She tucked the white lock of hair behind her ear and smiled as gently as she could manage. "Have you noticed any unusual or negative things changing about you, things like urges you didn't have before your changes, or fears or aversions?" Avery Calder Avery nodded, although he looked a little nervous, wondering what kinds of questions she was going to ask. "Well... I... I guess. I hate being alone. I mean, I didn't like it before... but now I really don't like it. Whenever Tim sleeps in his own duplex, I have trouble sleeping... and I keep waking up during the night, feeling like something's missing." He looked a little embarrassed to admit the next part. "I mean, that doesn't happen all the time... but when it does, I can usually just steal one of his shirts or something, so I can, er... smell him? That sounds really stupid. But it helps a little." Avery frowned. "He's the most constant thing in my life right now, so when he's not around, it's just... weird. I dunno if that's related to anything or not, but it's new. But I don't think I'm afraid of anything... except for Zach, but that's because he attacked me." Marlena Frost Marlena smiled. "If these records are correct, they show that you seem to have been altered by some canine DNA. Being close to someone you view as a pack member is natural for that, and scent is a heavy focus of such creatures, so what you've experienced makes perfect sense."
She crossed her legs at the ankles, leaning back on her hands. "Can you tell me a bit about the incident with Zach? What prompted the attack? How do you feel about it in retrospect?" Avery Calder Avery nodded a little. He'd never assumed dogs were pack animals before, but that made sense to him. "Well... there were two incidents, actually. The first time, it was the first time I met him... and, er... we got drunk. I'm pretty sure I didn't provoke anything - but I remember he grabbed my hair... he would have really hurt me, if he hadn't passed out. The second time... there wasn't alcohol involved. It was after his first change, I think. He tried to bite me... and then I ran away. I'm pretty sure I didn't provoke it then, either." Marlena Frost Marlena made a sympathetic face and reached over to pat the teen's shoulder lightly. "I'm sorry you had to go through that. Has he acted aggressive towards you since then? Or anytime other than when he had alcohol or after a major physical change? I'd like to make sure no one gets hurt by him, if we can isolate what made him so aggressive." Avery Calder Avery shook his head. "No... I haven't seen him around, thankfully. But I heard he attacked one of the staff not long ago... maybe he's just, um, crazy? I mean... turning into an animal... it hurts a lot. I don't know how I'm managing to deal with it... but maybe not everyone can? The second time he attacked me, I think... it was really close after his first change. So I was asking him about it, 'cause I hadn't changed at all at that point. Then he just snapped at me. Literally." Marlena Frost Marlena nodded slowly. "How do you feel about living on the island? Have you had any nightmares or the like? And Other than the physical changes, do you find the accomodations adequate? Are there things you do for fun?"
She scribbled a few notes on the steno pad before setting it behind her again, watching Avery with a bit more intensity, studying the changes to his physiology with a practiced eye. Avery Calder Avery made a face, as if the answers should be obvious to these questions. "I hate it, I don't want to live here. I want to live back home with my parents and my friends. But I want Tim too. Not that anyone'll let me go home," he sighed. "Yeah... I've had a few nightmares... about what happened on the cruise liner. It was really vivid the night before I changed..." "I guess the accomodations are alright. My room is pretty boring though. No posters or decorations or anything... not even a calender, I have no idea what day it is anymore. Everything is just kind of running together. Every day is the same as the one before." Avery frowned as the thought about it. "It's kind of depressing, feeling like I don't have a purpose or any real reason to get up in the morning. I play in the arcade sometimes, and watch TV, and read books... and hang out with my friends of course. But I want to do something fun like to go the mall or clubbing or something." Marlena Frost Marlena nodded and rubbed a finger across her chin pensively. "I'll see if I can get a hold of a calendar for you, if that would help? Though I can't promise anything. I can, however, give you this."
The woman moved around behind the desk again and opened the drawer, withdrawing a amber colored container that looked like a standard prescription bottle. "This should help you with the pains during transformation. Take one before bed starting tonight." She handed the bottle to Avery, as well as a small blank journal. "Also, if you could do me this small favor, can you keep a journal of these nightmares? I might be able to help you work through them if you keep details for me."
((OOC Note: The pills are a Rauwolfia alkaloid, normally used to treat high blood pressure, but a main side effect is the causing of nightmares. She's reworked the pills to only work lower blood pressure for about 4 hours after taking it, so while sleeping, to invoke nightmares.)) Avery Calder Avery smiled a little, feeling grateful for her help. Maybe not all the lab techs were all that bad after all. "Yeah, a calender would be great." He reached out and accepted the bottle and the journal from her, looking at the pills in the bottle. "Alright... I'll do that. Thank you... I really appreciate it. I've been worried about my next change for a while... the last one hurt a lot." Marlena Frost Marlena's smile was genuine this time, though not out of sympathy. Internally she was relishing the boy's growing positive view of her. "I'm glad to help, Mr. Calder. I hope I can make your stay here more pleasant."
She looked at her watch and tapped it lightly. "I've taken up more than enough of your time today. The gentlemen outside will escort you back to the village. I'll call on you again in a week or so, to see how you're doing." She gestured to the door. Avery Calder Avery stood up. "Alright. I guess I'll see you in about a week then? It was nice meeting you," he said, waving, and still a little surprised he could say something like that about one of the employees here. Well, as long as she was helping him and not trying to change him, she couldn't be that bad. Avery smiled at Dr. Frost again before leaving the room, and following security back to the village. Marlena Frost Marlena's warm smiled turned positively arctic after the teen left. She quelled the urge to laugh at his naivete, and instead sat down at the desk to record her findings.

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ In which Avery and Cass discuss Vasile.
Cassidy Smith Cassidy was, very slowly, beginning to go stir crazy. Without much to occupy herself, the days were quickly blurring into each other. She had to talk to Vasile--she wasn't sure she wanted to, but it would be a good thing to do--but somehow she'd kept putting it off. Other than that, though, she didn't have a lot on her to-do list. Time to think things through. She had a pad of paper, a pen clutched in her scaly fingers, and she was making a list of possible hobbies, coiled on the ground next to the bar. At least, that had been the goal: she'd been at it a while, and it had devolved into making stick men and the occasional game of paper golf, while she drank a pint of beer with exaggerated care. Avery Calder Avery had been having the same problem, lately - no real important reasons to wake up in the morning, or get out of bed. What was the point? He had no job, or appointments, or classes. He didn't even know what day it was anymore - or what month, even. How long has it been since he arrived here? It was especially hard, at times like these when he was alone, not to just go back to his duplex and crawl into bed, sleeping the day away. Instead, he decided to try and seek out company, and he made his way to the beach bar. If there was no one there, at least he could still get drunk. But as Avery approached, he noticed someone was there. He picked up his pace, but his wagging tail slowed as he got a better look at the person. Definitely someone he has never met before, because he would have remembered someone with no legs. "Hey there!" he greeted cheerfully, and trying not to stare... too much... at the snake woman. "Erm... I don't think we've met before? I'm Avery." Cassidy Smith Cass turned, her tongue flickering curiously. It still sort of threw her off when she met someone new who'd obviously been on the island for a little while, but she was well aware of her tendencies towards being a shut-in. And hey, that always went better than when she met people who hadn't changed yet. She turned the pad of paper over and set the pen down on top of it. "Hey," she called. "Pull up a chair. I can grab you a beer, if you want, but I can't mix drinks to save my life." Avery Calder "Thanks," Avery smiled, a little startled by her tongue. Now that he thought about it, most of the islanders he has met have been mammals - and they were far less... unique (frightening) than the scaly islanders. He pulled up a chair, sitting down beside her. "Don't worry, I can't mix drinks either... I try anyway, though," he grinned. "Unless there are some girly drinks in there? I haven't really paid many visits here, surprisingly..." Cassidy Smith "Er. I dunno." Cassidy stretched a little to look behind the bar. "I always just go for the beer." She laughed, a little self-consciously. "I guess I'm just a little bit of a hick, whatever else I may try to be." She punctuated this with one of her small, corners-of-the-mouth-only smiles, and shifted a little. "I'm Cassidy. Call me Cass, everyone does." Avery Calder "Hey, nothing wrong with beer. It's all alcohol, right?" Avery leaned over the bar, nearly crawling right over it as he searched for something to drink. "Ahh, here we go... this'll do." He slid back down into his seat, clutching a bottle of coconut rum. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Cass." As soon as Avery spoke her name, it clicked inside his head who she was. This must be Vasile's ex that he had told Avery about. How many snake girls could there be on the island, after all? "So... how have you been holding up? I take it you've been here a while..?" Cassidy Smith "Yeah, well." Cass counted, briefly. She had to suppose it was pretty obvious she was not new to the neighbourhood. "A little more than nine months. Too long." She shrugged vaguely, and took a drink; it seemed safest. "What about you? Couple months?" This guy could almost pass for human, too. Geez, but that had been so long ago for her. Avery Calder "I don't know..." Avery sighed a little, taking a sip from the bottle. "I've kinda lost track of the days. Over a month, I think... it was sometime during that time everyone was stuck out in the wilderness." Cassidy Smith Cass cringed, slightly. That whole affair had been unpleasant. She'd been afraid it would never end. "That could be... I dunno, as much as five months ago. Maybe only two or so." She shook her head. "I keep close track of the dates. There's no proper seasons here, so I'd have no idea, otherwise." And for some reason, she found it important to keep track. Avery Calder "I'd like to... then it might not feel so much as if all the days are just running together. But I asked for a calender from the, um... therapist person, Dr. Frost I think was her name. She said she'd get one for me, so hopefully I'll get that soon," Avery said. Cassidy Smith "Good idea. I could use one myself." Cass turned the glass on the counter around in her hands. "I don't think I know any Dr. Frost. But I'm sure there's all sorts of staff who hardly have anything to do with us out here." Avery Calder "I think she's new, or something... I dunno." Avery shrugged. He glanced at her, and, curiosity getting the better of him, he asked, "so... er... you used to go out with Vasile? Is that right?" Cassidy Smith Cassidy froze, her fingers on the rim of her glass. She looked at Avery closely, her tongue flickering automatically, and said, in as calm a voice as she could muster, "Yes. That's right. I take it you know him?" Was she imagining the waver in her own voice or not? She couldn't judge. Cass exhaled slowly and took a long, deliberate drink. Avery Calder Avery winced, silently berating himself for opening his big mouth. Stupid, stupid, stupid. What were you thinking, you just met her, and you're bringing up this? Yeah, nice one, Avery."Yeah... I haven't really known him that long, but yeah. He just, talked about you a bit, that's all. Nothing bad about you, I mean. Just... um." Shut up, just stop talking, right now."I'm sorry about... you know... what happened." Cassidy Smith "Don't worry about it. Really." Cassidy shook her head slightly, her shoulders hunched. "Not your fault. I guess these things happen." The tip of her tail was twitching slightly, but her gaze was fixed somewhere in the bottom of her glass. Her forked tongue extended, touched the surface of the liquid, and retreated back into her mouth. "At least it's good to hear he's not bad-mouthing me," she joked, though with little humour. Avery Calder "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up," Avery mumbled, looking sheepish, and taking another sip of his drink before he continued talking. "But, yeah, he's not. I mean, I think he's really sorry about it... just can't help these kinds of things, yanno? And it can be really tough to come to terms with sometimes, when you realize it..." Cassidy Smith "What, him or me?" Cassidy looked carefully at Avery, trying to guess just how much he knew. She's already done the blurting-out-my-ex-is-gay thing, and is had occurred to her that it was probably a bad idea. "I'm trying. Believe me. I think I'm better than I was. I'm... I'm mostly not mad at him. Maybe just a little." She demonstrated this with two fingers about a centimetre apart. "But I'm trying." She went back to turning her glass around. "Sounds like you've been talking to him a fair bit, anyway." Avery Calder "Both," Avery said. "I can see how it can be hard on you and Vasile. I mean... trying to get the nerve up to tell you he's gay... that's hard to do. But on the other hand, being told that... I can see how it would be hard to understand, and get used to." He shrugged a little, concentrating on the bottle in his hands. "Yeah, we've been talking a bit." Cassidy Smith Ah. He did know. "It just sort of came out of left field, if you get me." Cassidy waved an arm around vaguely. "I figured we were doing okay. I guess not. I mean, on the one hand, I'm really glad he's not in the closet and just pretending for some demented reason, but still. Ouch." She sighed a little, and smiled vaguely. "If I start off on a rant, you should probably stop me. I'm sure everyone is just a little sick of hearing this." Avery Calder Avery chuckled, shaking his head. "Nah, it's alright. Good to get these things off your chest, yanno? Keep everything bottled up, and you'll just end up saying things you don't mean," he smiled at her. "Maybe he'd been thinking about it a while? I mean... it took me a couple months to get up the nerve to tell my parents I was bi... turned out I didn't have anything to worry about, but still - I had no idea what they would think." Cassidy Smith "I sure hope he was thinking about it a while. I'd hate to think he just woke up one morning and decided all at once that he was gay." Cass laughed quietly, shaking her head. "Man. My aunt came out some years back. This is just slightly harder to deal with. I guess eventually..." She stopped turning her glass long enough to take a drink. She was leaving little wet circles on the bar counter. "I have got to talk to him. While not angry, I mean." Avery Calder Avery nodded, and he took another swig of rum from his bottle. "Yeah... best to wait until you know you won't blow up at him," he laughed a little. "Things never go the way you want, that way." He was glad the conversation wasn't as awkward as he thought it might be. Of course, if she found out he and Timothy had slept with Vasile? Yeah, don't mention that. Cassidy Smith "I already did the yelling thing," Cass admitted. "It was not helpful." She rested her chin on her hand, and grinned at Avery. "I always did have a big mouth." Perhaps moreso, now. "I need to apologise, I think. Clear my conscience and all." Avery Calder "Well at least it's our of your system now, eh?" Avery smiled back at her. "Don't worry, I have a big mouth too," he laughed. "It's gotten me into trouble loads of times. I think it's just because sometimes I say things without even thinking, first. That's always a great idea." Avery decided against drinking anymore for now; he was a lightweight, and he wanted to be able to walk back to his duplex without falling over, at least. And he wanted to make sure he didn't say - or admit - anything stupid. Cassidy Smith "That has always been my problem," Cass laughed. "Speaking before thinking things through. God, some of the stuff I said back when people first started to change? Yeesh. I'm surprised Ambrose still talks to me." She finished off her beer with a final gulp, and set the glass down. "You want another? I will if you will." Avery Calder "Ambrose... is he the wolf guy? I think I've met him once or twice, very briefly though." He wondered if he had changed anymore since he last saw him at the party. Avery still worried that he would become a full blown dog, unable to walk on two legs anymore, like Awen had told him about Pyroth. And, looking at Cass, it just made him worry even more since she didn't even have legs any longer. "Hmm," he thought for a moment, "nah... I think I've had enough for now. I'm kinda a lightweight, it doesn't take much to get me drunk," he said with a grin. Cassidy Smith She nodded. "Yeah, the wolf guy." At one point she had been horribly jealous of him, but it didn't seem like such an "easy" animal to get anymore. "And fair enough." Cassidy shrugged. "I suppose I should stop now, anyway. I've had enough." She gathered up her pad of paper and pen, and with a polite smile to Avery, said, "I'll see you around, I guess." She uncoiled herself and turned to slither back to her duplex. Avery Calder "Alright, it was nice meeting you, Cass! I'm sure we'll run into each other again sometime," he smiled, and waved as she left. Before Avery went back to his own duplex, however, he grabbed some various bottles of flavored drinks - as much as he could carry, anways - to stock up the mini fridge in his duplex.

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ In which Avery has a 100% nightmare. He was laying on his bed in his duplex - alone - when it started. That same, familiar itchy feeling he remembered from last time, spreading all over his body. He scratched at his arms and his legs, the itching becoming unbearable as golden fur began to grow along his legs, his back - everywhere. But it didn't stop there, no; even as his fur was still growing, Avery began to feel the pain spreading throughout his body as well.
It began at the base of his spine, his short tail growing longer, the fur growing thicker - Avery screamed. Rough, thick pads formed on his palms and the bottom of his feet. His fingers shrank, the joints shifting and changing until all that was left were canine paws. He cried out, screaming and sobbing at the pain, wishing that someone, anyone would come save him from this.
But no one came, and he continued to change. His cries soon became howls and whimpers as his face contorted in pain, nose pushing out as his muzzle grew. Even his teeth ached, the old human teeth were pushed out, falling onto the floor as canine teeth took their place once his muzzle was fully formed.
His long, blonde hair was no more, having fallen out to join the teeth scattered on the floor, only fur remaining on his body. The joints at his hips were changing too, becoming awkward to hold out straight; Avery curled up as much as he could, trying to block the pain out, but he couldn't escape.
Finally, finally it was over, and he lay on his side, chest heaving as he panted, body still trembling and sore from the intense pain. It was hours before Avery even tried to move again, slowly getting to his feet... all four of them. With a shock, he looked down, staring with wide eyes at what were once human hands, now furred canine paws. A whimper escaped his throat, and his tail tucked between his legs as he realized what had happened. He had turned into a dog... a regular, four legged dog.
He panicked, and he ran into the bathroom, standing up on his hind legs and putting his paws on the edge of the sink so he could look in the mirror. An unfamiliar dog stared back at him, one eye blue and one eye brown. He whimpered again, ears pressing back against his head - but immediately perking up again when he heard the duplex door open.
"Hello?" Timothy called out, and Avery ran to him, tail wagging happily. His mate was home! Surely he can help him!
"Tim, Tim!" Avery yipped, pawing at the other boy's feet. "I just changed... I don't know what to do! Please, help me... there's got to be a way to fix this! I'm so scared..."
But the skunk boy only looked down at Avery in confusion, not hearing his words. All he could hear from Avery were barks and yelps. "Is that... you, Avery?" Timothy frowned.
"Yes! It's me... can't you hear me!?" Avery whimpered at the boy, pressing his nose against Timothy's hand. He wanted to cry. This just couldn't be happening to him... it couldn't. He had finally found some happiness on the island... and now what was he going to do?
Timothy looked at the hair and teeth that Avery had lost, and then back at him. "It is you..." he said, shaking his head at the realization. Except he didn't try to comfort Avery at all... instead, he just sighed. "Sorry Avery... I can't be with you like this. You're just a dog now..." he spoke sadly, and turned away, reaching for the door.
"No no no!" Avery whined loudly. "Please, please don't leave me! Not now... not when I need you the most..."
But Timothy didn't listen, and he left Avery's duplex, shutting the door behind him. He curled up alone on the floor, whimpering, feeling lost and alone...Avery woke gasping and sweaty, finding himself on the floor, tangled up in the bed sheets. He struggled to free himself, untangling the sheets from around him and standing up. He shuddered at the memory of the horrible nightmare. He glanced at the journal Dr. Frost had given him, sitting next to the bed on his nightstand, but decided he needed to calm down first. He went into the bathroom, splashing cold water onto his face before looking at his reflection in the mirror. Would he really change into a dog? Would Timothy still want him..? Avery didn't know which he was more afraid of, but both thoughts made him feel sick - and he pressed his face into his hands and cried.

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ RP with Tim. 50% Avery!
It had been a few nights since Avery's first nightmare of turning into a four legged dog, but that wasn't the last. Every night, he would have a nightmare of becoming a dog; different scenarios, different people (although, usually Tim was involved in the nightmares somehow). All the nightmares ended up the same way - Timothy, Rex, Vasile, Awen... all his friends would leave him because of what he had become. Avery always ended up unable to talk or walk like a normal human, and nobody could understand anything he was saying, his pleas for help going unheard. The nightmares were wearing on him, too; he was starting to get less sleep, and began to feel depressed. He was even starting to get a little bit too clingy, as well. He desperately wanted to ask Timothy how he would feel if he turned into a full dog... but he was too afraid of the answer. And this night was no different from the others; he awoke from the same horrible nightmare, clinging to Timothy beside him on the bed and pressing his face into Timothy's furry shoulder.

Even as you do wake up, you feel an itchy, burning sensation all over your entire body. It's worse than the last time, but as this is only your second change you may not realize what it is signaling.
Timothy murmured in his sleep as Avery drew himself closer, comforted by the boy's presence but not awake enough to be fully cognative.

Avery scratched at his arm, but he figured it was just a phantom itch from the dream he had yet again of transforming. It didn't occur to him that it could be the real thing this time, even as he reached down to scratch his leg. "Urgh," he grumbled, pulling away from Timothy and sitting up in bed. Phantom itch or not, it was aggravating him.

Much of the tingling settles on your nose. Your sense of smell improving even further as it does. Before you feel it... it seems... wet? Your face aches as your nose starts to reshape, the nostrils and then the rest of your nose changes becomming black and doglike on your face.
Timothy felt Avery's shift, which roused him from his sleep, atleast slowly. "Avery?" he said as he rubbed his eyes.

Avery reached up to rub his nice, but winced at he rubbed it a little too hard; his nose felt more tender than it had before. Then it started to ache, and he whimpered slightly. He touched his nose again, gently this time, but he could feel it changing beneath his fingers, and he gasped.
No.
It was happening again.
"No!" he shouted suddenly, fear gripping his body. He wanted to run, but where? He couldn't run from something that was already inside you, changing you. Avery glanced back at Timothy when he heard his name, the fear obvious on his face. He could feel his heart beating faster in his chest; what was going to happen to him now? How much was he going to change? Would he still be able to talk, to walk on two legs?
