Lenore snorted at the mental image of Coatl being half-buried on some beach, then blinked in surprise.

"No! Huh, that's cool," she said. "How's the new place? Izzit haunted? Are there monsters in the basement? In the attic? Oh oh! Are there monster-ghosts in the attic?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 03, 2006 1:35 pm

The blonde boy laughed in response. "It's fine, but sadly I don't think it's haunted. Or at least the basement isn't. Mom wouldn't let me in he attic because she says I'm too heavy and I havn't gotten a chance to sneak up there-"

"It's boring. There's only dusty, spiders, and cobwebs," Kanti broke in again as she began making some pebble mound.

Osso moved his hand to Kanti in a gesture saying "there ya go."

Lenore sagged slightly in disappointment.

"Oh well," she said. "Maybe someone'll die and then they'll decide to stick around. Ghosts like spiderwebby attics, Sadako told me so."

She paused then, realizing what she'd just said.

"Oh! I mean, not one of you guys dying, just someone in general," she amended quickly. Not that she wanted Osso or his family to come to harm, but damn it all a haunted house would be a fascinating place to live in to say the least.

Waving a hand, Osso laughed lightly. "I got what you ment. Maybe there are ghosts in the house, since it is some refurbished old... uh, English-like 1800s styled house....thing. What ever mom said it was."

"It's the biggest 'cottage' I've ever seen in my life..." Kanti said.

"Too bad your life hasn't exactly been long."

"Shut up."

"I win," Osso chuckled.

"Ooooh," Len said, eyes wide. "Sounds so cool."

The only home Len herself had ever known was the room in HQ. To say that she was a little envious of Osso's new house would be pretty accurate. She laughed at the bickering, grinning a bit.

"A valiant battle," she said wryly to Osso, grinning wider. "Amazing."

"Oh I quite agree. I should get a medal," he smirked.

Kanti just looked at them, slightly confused. "You two are weird..."

"Or are we the sane ones and you're just weird?"

"Sane people never realize they're sane, though," Len said thoughtfully. "Only in the absence of sanity to people realize whether they're normal or not."

Nodding as though she'd said the wisest thing in the world, she suddenly frowned as she thought she heard someone shouting her name.

"Len! Len! Dammit, you better not be in the woods...Lenore!"

"Oh, crap, that's Mum," Len said, jumping up. "I gotta go, Os, sorry!"

Hiking up her skirts and starting to run off, Lenore abruptly turned and came back. She hugged Osso and kissed him on the cheek, and waved goodbye to Kanti.

"See you guys later," she said, smiling as she left again.

Delphine and her guardian made their way towards the edge of the lake, the sun was out and it was reaonably warm, perfect swimming weather!

"Lake, lake, lake, lake." Delphine sang happily holding her mother's hand and swinging her beach bag with the other. Her tail swished and twitched with excitement, it had been to long in her view since she'd been swimming.

Kay had given into Delphine's whining that the bathtub was now far to small for her to swim in, and so the pair had headed out to a proper swimming location. The lake was chosen over the pool, as Kay had doubts as to what any pool chemicals might do to Delphi and it was such a nice day to be outdoors that she'd thrown a small picnic together as well.

"Lake, lake, la-." The fish kitty gave a huge wriggle of excitement as they stepped onto the shore, her fins fluttering through the holes Kay had cut in her bright orange bathers.

Ther seer grabbed the back of them just in time to stop her charge from running full pelt into the lake. "Settle Delphi." she chided, "come and put your things down first."

The fish kitty pouted but toddled after her anyway, over to a shady spot under a tree. Setting her bag down she pulled her much loved kangaroo plushie "Roo" from it and set him on top of the picnic basket. "Woo watch food." she ordered sternly a pudgy finger waved at him for emphasis.

Armand gave an exasperated sigh as he huddled in his jacket, trying with all his might to not pick at the peeling patches plated on the sleeves. It was not too difficult of a challenge, for only one arm was truly free - the other occupied with holding tight to the strange little infant he had come to parent. Everything about him seemed colder with the thing on, but he had not the will to remove it and use it as a blanket. Rather than acting in any logical manner, Armand had gone with the extreme. He had not brought a water bottle to douse the baby with on occasion, nor had he wet a blanket, or used his wet jacket as a blanket. Instead, he had worn the thing.

Hastily, his feet picked up and let down, giving off a sloppy rhythm and forcing a bounce to his figure, one that the baby contained partially within his purposely dampened jacket found amusing. Every small jerk upward the child would make a bubbling sound and laugh in an entertained way. Her eyes would glitter as she stared up, then down, and clung tighter to the moist article of clothing. Together with Armand's noise of anguish they formed a contradicting course. One of the two was having the time of their life.

"Almost...There." Armand ground his teeth together, shivering outwardly. He looked down at the - the thing contained in his jacket! Oh, what had he agreed to? His eyebrows furrowed as he stared downward, only to lock eyes with the small baby. She had gawked, mouth open in a wide circle and brown eyes puzzled. He had his answer. The face. Wearily, Armand smiled and shook his head to himself, observing the child --- Valerie, as he called her when not irritated. When she blew a bubble of spit and permitted it to pop, that had been the end of it, he jerked back and looked startled; then began to chew on his cheek.

It wasn't long until the two of them had reached the shore and Armand had willingly plopped down, breathing and removing the baby from his jacket. He held her up, made a stern face and muttered something completely incoherent before setting her on the ground and rubbing his temples. How ridiculous he felt, having been contained in a heavy looking jacket while walking about in swimming trunks. "Next time, you wear the jacket." He grumbled, tapping at his forehead before quickly leaning back to crack his back. "Brilliant idea. Next time, you'll wear the wet jacket. And we're getting a wagon!" The ideas had clicked, his mind flowing with ideas any thoughtful person may have come up with upon knowing the conditions of the girl. Regardless, he was oblivious to the obvious solutions, thus found them a complete work of genius.

While babbling, Valerie had wiggled on the ground and tugged at it with her hands, fin flopping and slapping the ground enthusiastically. Her eyes were far from the strange man who had been named parent - set exclusively on the lake and the water. It looked calming, trusting, and that she found utterly attractive. He mouth opened and she squealed in delight, working to drag herself in.

"ACK! No, Bab-- Valerie, no!"

To her misfortune, Armand caught her just as she had started into the water. Angrily, she glowered, but her distaste was shattered as attention was brought elsewhere - to a shaded tree area a small distance away where two strangers rested, or had started resting. No longer did she make an irritable noise direct towards Armand. Rather, she laughed once again - became entranced. Such a short attention span!

The fish-kitty quickly freed her head from inside the picnic basket; which she had been inspecting the contents of; at the sound of a man's voice floating up along the shore. Placing Roo back in his guard position she looked around curiously.

Kay was busily pulling off her t-shirt and jeans, she'd worn her bathers underneath, and hadn't noticed a thing. She finished up and wandered over to scoop up Delphine, when before she could the little mishap pointed down the lake shore.

"Fishy!" she grinned excitedly having found the source of the voice and spotted the obviously finned creature staring back at her.

From this distance all Kay could see was something that looked like a seal. Curious, she took a hold of Delphine's hand and walked down the shoreline towards the man and the seal. Had it been hurt?, she wondered, trying to maintain a firm hold on Delphine, who was all but dancing from excitement.

As they got closer Delphine let loose an eager cry of "HELLO FISHY!". Managing to wriggle her hand free she toddled as quickly as she could towards her goal arm's waving wildly.

Kay hurried up behing her charge. "I'm sorry," she apologised as she came near "I hope she didn't scare the sea- oh." The guardian blushed at her mistake as she took in the hair and human looking face of the now very obviously not 'seal'.

Glass Crow

Osso just had time to return the kiss and hug before Len left again and another "ooooooooooooooooooooooo" and a giggle sounded from Kanti.

"Quiet, brat," Osso replied with a chuckle.

Kanti stuck out her tongue and yelled and waved at the dashing off Lenore. When the Mishap was out of sight, she turned back to her brother. "Can I have my kendo stick back?"

"No."

"What?! Why not?"

"Does mom know you're here?" He asked, switching the topic.

"Um....oops."

An exhasperated sigh came from the boy as he let his hand drag down his face. Picking up Kanti's kendo stick, he lightly smacked her back before taking off. "Hurry up! If mom's mad I'm blaming it all on you."

"Not fair!" With that Kanti took off after him.

A pair of voices not belonging to the two of them had emerged seemingly out of nowhere. Coming in, Armand had not witnessed anyone else, and even there- sitting -he had remained as oblivious as the ants that trudged through the grass.

Until those voices had slipped into mind.

Armand blinked and gave the two approaching beings a glance. The kitten-fish child had caught him off guard, although he had completely recomposed himself within a moment or two. Hesitantly, he had slipped the wet jacket off, not liking the chilly feel it allotted him. It wasn't as if they needed it any longer, not at that moment. They'd made it easily enough - no mishaps! Although, so it seemed, they had drawn a bit of attention.

Valerie had giggled and wriggled fingers, as if waving slightly to Delphine. A wild smile was on her human-like face, as she blinked. "Afoo." The orca-colored-seal had gurgled, blowing a small bubble out of her mouth - it popping almost instantly after the formation.

On the other hand, her... 'Parent' had seemed less eager or jubilant, though he had smiled faintly, almost sheepishly. "Trust me. I've known this kid a little while and I don't think anything scares her." Armand had chimed. With caution, he shifted on the ground. Oddly enough, he had not seemed to notice the beginning statement of Valerie having appeared a mere seal from afar.

Delphi eyed the other child keenly, noting that she had almost as many fins as herself! Clapping her hands gleefully at the thought of all the splashes they could make she edged even closer.

“Baybee fishy wanna swim?” the fish-kitty eagerly asked her, completely ignoring the fact that she most likely wouldn’t receive an intelligible answer from a baby and that she should probably be asking the adults for permission.

“Delphine!” Kay cried out at her extroverted child’s behaviour. Blushing even more profusely she clutched Delphine’s hand and drew her away from the strange man and back to her side.

Hanging her head slightly in embarrassment she apologised again, “Sorry, Delphine –“ she paused to motion towards the aforementioned; who was now trying to swing on the arm that was restraining her; “is a tad outgoing. We’ll uh go and leave you to your peace and quiet.”

She made the turn and leave but was stopped by the little fish-kitty digging her heels in and pulling on her arm.

“Swim wif fishy.” She pleaded, a slight whine entering her voice.

{{New RP w/Lenore & Sabriel}}

Lenore sat on a rock, sitting half-submerged in the shallows of the lake and isolated from the snow-covered shore, looking outwards at the frozen lake. Her perch was slicked over with ice but still a comfortable seat, if one overlooked how cold it was. Her tail flicked and fluffed of its on volition from time to time, the only thing indicating she was alive - Lenore was still as a statue, lost in thought of a hundred different things at once, not the least of which was wondering what it would be like to freeze to death.

It was pretty damned cold, one couldn't help but think of such things.

Babies did not like the cold and the snow. That was the only reason Sabriel was out here - fur matted into icy clumps, shivering, miserable and in a touchy mood, prowling along the edge of the lake. The Thing had been howling all morning. Chin wanted him to help out, but that was one thing Sabe would not do: attend to Things.

Even worse was the thought of attending to Birds. Sabriel spotted Lenore out on her rock with a faint touch of surprise, that quickly turned to irritation. No place was safe! Still, it looked like she was in her own world. He thought about passing her by. Nah.

"Hey, BIRD!" he called, bending down to scoop up a handful of snow. As soon as she turned around...
