Had Christof.. just.. ignored her?
Riley's gaze narrowed as a fire lit within her milky orbs. She made no attempt to hide the rage that suddenly danced in her eyes as she watched him. It was ironic, then, that she heard Jericho asking her how to calm his temper. Her eyes flickered over to him, instantly cooling. How does one such as Jericho attempt to vent, she wondered? We could always find you a nice ghoulfriend. You could, ahh, vent, on her. She teased him.
When she heard Calder, Riley couldn't help herself. He was making it too easy. You can't go swimming? She asked innocently. Why is that? She quirked her head at him, though it helplessly turned when she heard students rolling (?!) in to the room. She looked up, and rose a brow at Merope and Aymet. Show offs, it seemed. She caught Aymet's eye as he glanced down the table, and instinctively lifted her hand to bend her fingers in a wave.

Catching the hint of anger in Riley's expression, Jericho wondered for the moment if it had been something he said somehow, seeing how he wasn't aware she was speaking to two other people at the same time. But her demeanor seemed to shift as her eyes focused on the dragon. Letting out a snort, he shook his head in amusement.
<<That'd have to be some girl to be able to put up with me,>> he said with a grin, <<Do you know if there's some sort of fight club around this school? I have no battle pass as of yet but I guess that'd be one way I could take it out. Though I suppose that doesn't really do much for my temper as a whole.>>
Looking over the table, it seemed that most, if not all of the students were accounted for now. The class was probably going to start soon, or so he thought. Frowning again, he leaned back in his chair, not particularly looking forward for things to actually begin for the day.

As he was addressed by Hadiyya, Merope turned to her and grinned. "Thanks! It's an outfit of my people." Or what he believed, anyway. It was hard to figure out what sort of clothes to wear when your kind spent most of their time in their natural 100 foot-plus long forms. He figured it would be similar to what he was wearing, at least.

Malodore attempted to attract Christof's attention, seeing that the patchwork was suddenly deeply flustered by something. "Are you quite well?" it asked, stretching one bony leg out under the table and nudging Christof's own leg with one hoof, just in case it couldn't quite be heard over the conversation. The table was quite lively now!

TH=he she-wolf smiled at the patchwork and watched as he pulled out a note to write on. This didn't bother her in the slightest. She was patient and happy to wait and speak with him even if she was the only one speaking. Besides, if she didn't talk with someone right now, LW would be flicking pieces of paper across the table at Ren.
LW glanced down at the note when he slid it towards her and she nodded. "I wish class would start too. And be over fairly quickly." Although she had had a little fun last time. Somewhat. Alright just a little. "Wonder what we'll do today in class?" She wondered aloud and offered up one of her usual smiles to Christof.

He slowly shook his head at Riley. Nope. I can't go near that much water, because I can't control myself. To this he frowned, and looked out to the pile of homework on Mr. Winter's desk. Wild and free and yet with discipline and restraint? He was still confused over his parents' words, but he knew that things had to change now. For now, he was just forced into it, but he knew that he had to go through other measures or else he would never be allowed near water again, or he would have to avoid it for the sake of everyone. As of now, he barely had anyone to talk to, and what would happen if he decided to dunk what few people he knew? He'd wind up alone again! Looking over, he wondered if Riley could breath underwater, but then again, she had no mouth...or gills.
Still, out of desperation for company and the simple fact that he did not, at this point, see no reason to share him new limitations, he continued. If I go near it now, I just go......go.........Poof! He made a explosion gesture with his hands before setting them in his lap to grip the hem of his kilt. I can't even sneak in to get a swim - not that I would! I have to be very good and careful now. I'm still in a lot of trouble. Hot water. Thin ice. Toeing the line. And all those other phrases that he was hearing plenty of recently.

((Hey guys, I'm stuck at my mom's due to a pretty crappy snowstorm. Hopefully I'll be able to get out early tomorrow, so class is on pause until I can get home;;
You can either let it hang for now, or keep up with your conversations. Sorry for the delay sad ))

Her mind wandered for a moment, as she thought about what Jericho said. Some girl to put him with him. Who would be worthy of such a task? It would have to be some girl indeed.. she would have to pass Jericho's standards, and her own, before Riley allowed such a thing to pass. Her dragon would settle for no less than the best.
A fight club? She responded distractedly. I'm not aware of one as of yet. If you find one.. I would also join. But then again, Riley tended to join everything.
Her attention returned fully to Calder, and her face reformed to a mask of pity. Oh, that's terrible.. I can imagine how hard that must be for you. Rest assured, you are not alone in your struggles. Being at this school is a bit of a challenge for many of us.. though I can only imagine how important being in water is for you, and I do not envy you. She patted his shoulder softly. It will be all right, it's not forever.

As Riley continued to comfort him and only give him words of reassurance, Calder was taken completely by her kindness, one of which he felt he wouldn't get due to recent events. To find out he wasn't hated by someone and was instead sympathized with, someone taking his side, had more than just won him over. The kelpie looked up at her, eyes wide and misting, and pale, lower lip quivering as he slowly nodded to her words. He could only hope it wasn't forever, but there was more than just that. It could be forever if he didn't change his ways. What if Hellma, deciding he was unfit to be around water, made him forever stuck with this hairpin? He'd live the rest of his life in fear of water! A kelpie who ran away whenever it rained too hard or when someone spilled a jar of bug juice at a dinner table! What life would that be?!!!
Thinking about it only made it worse, but the small pat on his shoulder and her caring, tender eyes only made him completely break down, and he latched onto her, pressing his face in and sobbing. That's so nice of you! You're right! It won't be forever! I'll figure something out! I will! I'll get better!!!!!!! I can't LIVE LIKE THIS FOREVER!!!!!! It just wasn't natural!
While he more or less sobbed in Riley's chest, it was good to note that there was a downside to having a conversation in your head with someone. No one else knew what the hell was going on!!!

It took Jericho a moment to actually reply to Riley, if only because he suddenly saw the Kelpie next to her bury his face into her chest. What the hell was going on there? Frowning, he raised an eyebrow at the mindflayer, wondering if she had any more insight on this than he did.
<> he asked while shooting a glance at the boy, though she could have probably figured out who he was talking about without the notion.

Riley had seen how smoothly Calder had tried to drown that ghoul in detention. She therefore did NOT expect Calder to end up being a wishy-washy, clingy, crybaby. She also did not expect he would suddenly fling himself at her, and her arms went up in surprise, staring down at his head. She could hear Jericho's thoughts, and thought about how this might look to someone who wasn't hearing Calder's sobs. This.. worried her. Just a little bit.
She gently pulled him away from her chest, and moved him to her shoulder. She then patted his back softly, and comforted him.
You won't have to live like this forever. Trust me, you won't. She weakly uttered, giving Jericho a brief 'help me' look from across the room.
There there, Calder. She uttered quietly. It'll be all right. As long as he didn't shove his face into her chest again. She was NOT going to detention again for him.

The monster that was around bodies of waters with other people, the drowning type, was not the same as regular, normal Calder. Those were two different beasts in the same body, and take out the element, and you were left with miserable Calder, who clung to people and was a bit starved for affection at the moment. If she had been aiming to know about the other monster, she would need to find a way to have the elements present to summon it without causing any harm or draw attention to either one of them. Why she would want to meet such a dark side of Calder, who knew? He had only been swept up by Riley's kind act of sympathy, though Riley probably regretted being that good of an actor, and took no fuss when he was transported from her chest to her shoulder. Looking back at it, he might say that Riley was not also very absorbent, but rather soft and squishy. The armor, however, was not. She'd do better in soft wool and maybe some plaid. ..........everything was better with plaid.
As quick as he was to break down, he took stock that he was in class and he might get in detention for sobbing (the face in chest thing hadn't registered to him as something that he could be punished for), and he pulled back, wiping his face on the end of his scarf and then letting his drop. Somewhat pinker in the face now, he breathed out, collecting himself. ...S...Sorry. You're right. I can do this. I just have to remain positive. He could do that, right? 1.) He was still alive. 2.) He wasn't arrested. 3.) He wasn't in expelled. 4.) He still had some kind friends - like Riley. - He smiled at her a moment. 5.) Well, it wasn't like he'd be drowning anyone anytime soon - so that meant they couldn't hate him later. That was good. 6.) He still had his scarf. (Yes, that mattered in some odd way!) 7.) Uh.....at least he could still cry. That wasn't something that was making him go Poof from too much water. Well, unless he made a puddle. So far, so good.

Siddie had used her tidiest handwriting on the assignment, on the off chance that the penmanship would also be graded - it wasn't too outlandish an idea, considering the class so far. Minus the - uh - incident - with the ghost dog, mind you, but she was sure that hadn't been planned. Mostly sure. Siddie's homework Living shadows are an old and flexible type of shadow. We have lived everywhere in every time, using the darkness to scare. Young shadows are expected to be heard but not seen, and as we grow older we learn how to be voices in the dark. Living shadows adopt the culture and customs of the monsters among which they live. Blending in seamlessly and naturally is an integral part of life. Living shadows are good mediators and diplomats as well as scarers. There wasn't, on the whole, a lot to say about her race's culture. She hoped that they weren't being graded on length. The boil - was it a boil? with those wrappings and robe, she couldn't really tell - next to her seemed familiar, but it took her some time to pin down where she'd seen it. She almost jumped when it came to her. Battle of the Bands! That was right; it'd been in that competition. ... Hadn't Sammy stolen its hat, actually? She turned toward it and smiled. "Hello," she offered. "I'm Siddie. I don't think we've met, but we were both in the Battle of the Bands thing." She almost offered her hand, but a glance at its claws made her change her mind. Probably not a good idea to shake hands.

Ah - Malodore turned as someone scooted into the seat next to it, only to find a greeting waiting for it! How... cultured, which was quite appropriate. And such an interesting creature! Was it - she - constructed entirely of shadow? Fascinating! Malodore nodded its head companionably to her, after one quick glance back at Christof; hopefully the patchwork would calm down a little bit.
"I do not think so either, but it is my pleasure - L.C. Malodore, though please, call me Malodore."

Siddie nodded back. "A pleasure to meet you." She gave Malodore a sunny smile and leaned in just a little. "I overslept today, just a little - have I missed anything in class so far? I don't think the teacher noticed. At least, I hope not."
She took a quick glance around to size up the general mood of the class, and to see who else might have come in; she was certain she hadn't seen Malodore last time, so perhaps other students had been added as well.
