 Nanami laughed. "Yeah, the tomato festival is a fun one. We haven't gone in the past few years... too messy," she glanced at her daughter. Haruka protested going every year. She put too much effort into her appearance to get that dirty! She was a little disappointed that they weren't going to compete, but better that way. Less competition! "Yup, we're participating. Haruka here came in second last year, you know," she boasted in the way only a parent could. Haruka looked up at Matthew and Gemma and offered them a small smile. "She entered me without my permission. So she's doing it with me this year," she explained. Nanami let out a small sigh at the reminder. "Really, how did you get so sneaky?" she paused for a moment before realizing that these two didn't know who Haruka was! "Oh, yeah, I forgot. This is Haruka, my daughter," she introduced her daughter with a smile. Haruka just gave them a small wave.

Her children out and about at the library, or doing whatever it is kids do after going to the library, Gail made her way alone to the cooking festival. She hadn't been really that social since her last appearance at the pumpkin festival, and figured that this would be more her cup of tea than being home all alone. Gail didn't like being left alone, even if it was for short periods of time... The silence just seemed to eat away at her soul the longer she sat there. It wasn't a pretty picture, so she figured she might as well explore this and maybe meet a few new people. She'd never really been to a cooking festival here before, since this was her first year and all to be on the island, so it would be a brand new and exciting experience.
Peering around, she tried to figure out what was going on, and where she should be going. Not knowing people was starting to be kind of problematic... Learning new names and faces was definitely required now.

Gaston of course was necessary at a festival like this! He should have come sooner, but he was busy with his new pet.. Well, he was busy getting fond over it, which was proving quite a difficult thing to do. He normally could love every exotic animal that came his way, but this one didn't even have fur or fluff to make it seem cute in his mind! It would take only a special kind of person to enjoy that odd creature, which was Zhi. But, the girl was busy doing something. Nonsense, no one was busy for Gaston! He was the king! Mayor.. but still pretty kingly! But, alas, he couldn't reach Zhi no matter what he did! So, he just had to assume she was busy doing something that Asian girls did. Like cry about not being as beautiful, talented, and overall gifted as Gaston was. Yes, that sounded about right.
~~~
Conor came into the festival, late. Why? Well, why the ******** would anyone want to know? Conor had been acting pretty strange lately, but it was probably having to do with a certain blond's visit and a recent turn of events. There was a lot on the mind of the teenage boy and he didn't even know where to start, especially since he wasn't used to thinking period. Everything was so much simpler when he didn't wonder on it, but now..? There wasn't many ******** options. Nevertheless, however much Conor wanted to just sit at home and think/not-think, he couldn't ditch Keith.. again. Yes, it was guilt that had him dragging himself over to the festival, where he went straight to Keith and gave him a nod. “Hey.” He greeted and looked back over the crowd for.. no reason. He just wanted to see who else was there. “Uh, we signed up?”
~~~
Last of the males from this corner to come was Mao, who was.. a rather unexpected guest without Zhi to accompany him. He strolled in with his back straight and hands held taut behind his back. His head was held up and back slightly to examine the crowd at the fullest of his height. Which wasn't very much for a man, but it was still better than some he saw! Like a few women. Ah, the woes of being just a little on the short side. He didn't bother much with his self pity as he carefully strolled through the crowd to just watch them all and silently mock their whole being. Why was he here? Well, Mao, as much as he carried such a disdain for people, couldn't stand being locked up in his home all the time. That and he heard that the local government representative was a real b***h when it came to judging at the cooking contest and Mao had the small hope, something he rarely had, that it could be one of the bitches he was looking into.
Unfortunately, all he saw was Gladice at the judging panel as well as an eccentric mayor. Ah, such a pity, he was hoping to see Judith or maybe - “Freya.” Yes, that was also – oh. Mao's eyes had landed on the familiar purple-haired woman before he even registered who it was. The corner's of his lips quirked up in a slow, careful smirk. Oh, yes, at least his stroll wouldn't end as dull as it normally did! He headed straight over to the woman and stopped three feet to her left to clear his throat. Attention gathered? Good. “I would think some people would learn to keep their disgusting toys at home, wouldn't you?” He drawled with glance at the teddy bear she kept tucked in her arms.

  At the sound of his friend's voice, Keith's eyes brighter up and he immediately smirked, raising his head to see the fake-blond boy who was standing next to him. For a reason he still couldn't understand, Keith had been feeling extremely insecure and nervous when Conor wasn't around him, especially since his little trip to the clinic and meeting his mother. He was still happy to be alive, but the thought of being sent to Siberia kept hunting him at night. At least Conor usually cuddled with him... yeah, he hadn't stopped doing that, but Keith knew better than to tell him...again. "Hey... sup dude? Yeah... we're in." He didn't have his usual loud attitude, but who could blame him at that time. "Where were you, dude? Sleeping?" Keith had never been the kind to question Conor's action, but with his insecurity and the strange way Conor was acting lately, he just couldn't help resist the question.
--------------------------------
When she heard that voice, Freja pouted immediately. Not him! What was he doing there. She glanced at the Chinese man, obviously displeased with his presence there. "And I would like to believe that some people would have left their disgusting horrible Chinese accent back home" She said, barely looking at him. Seriously, did he thought he spoke perfect English? She could totally hear the variations in his tone, something common to Chinese people! Most people wouldn't be able to notice it, but most people didn't spent all their free time in a dark room full of spiders like her! She did wonder what he was talking about when he spoke about toys. She didn't have any, and it didn't seem like anyone around them had some either. She looked at her Teddy Bear, waiting for an answer, but nothing came out. Oh well. "What are you doing? Surely, a man who knows nothing about potion making would be horrible of a cook."

 (Dante is wearing this, but just with his normal long hair. no make up or anything. Okay maybe some mascara.) __________ Dante came in with Una, both would enter the contest together and hopefully would gain a better position then last time. Dante wore a simple outfit, and for once wasnt dressed in drag. Una was dressed up in her summer clothes her cute school girl outfit. "Guten tag. Ve vould like to register fur die contest. Una Anderson und Dante Tepes." Una said as she approached Raiden, one of the judges and smiled to him. Dante was right besides her quiet for now and looking at the judges there was the old woman, the Mayor and.. was that Raiden?! Dante waved gently to the man, a light blush and smile on his face. This would probably be the first time Raiden would see Dante without makeup. _________________________ Integra and Walter headed over to Gladice to register. "Oh good day Ma'am. What do they have a ol Ma'am like you behind a booth like this working you to the bone. Oh my. " Walter said jokingly and cheerfully, for once not having a cigarette in his mouth. "We'd like to register in this little contest. Walter Dolones and Integra Wingates." Walter said with a smile to the old coot.

x████████x MATTHEW COLLINS and GEMMA RHODESx████████x Matthew grimaced at the thought of the Tomato Festival. Since that mean he'd be stuck dealing with the clean-up duty, as to the clothes. Matthew knew that Gemma could deal with her clothes, herself. And besides that, Gemma doesn't put up much of a fight; if you ask nicely. She's so weird, even to him, who's known her for a very long time.
"Isn't that the fun part?" Matthew asked dryly, in an attempt to be funny. His tone even sounded a bit insulting, but not directed at none of the women he was with. "But, yeah, I had to promise Gemma I'd team up with her for the Tomato Festival." Matthew added with a sigh, giving Gemma a pointed sideways look.
"Good thing it's almost two seasons away!" Matthew added, his voice relieved and joking. An contrast to his earlier comments. Hell yes he had a mind of his own, and he'd grown to find it usually shined through in activities like this; outside of work. Especially, since Carly left. He's been much more vocal than before, although half of it can be accounted to Gemma's constant questions.
When Nanami went on to explain about Haruka, he looked down to scrutinize her. She looked almost nothing like her mother, at all! Matthew had thought she was a niece, or some friend of her family. They shared the same type of lips, but that was pretty much what he could tell. Not that he was staring at either of their lips, that is...
"Ah, I see..."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hearing Matthew's wry comment, she had given him an odd look. Since when was Matthew that dry humored? Seriously, that was her expertise! "Well, what can can you expect, right?" Gemma had inserted into the conversation, right after Matt's opinion about the Tomato Festival. How could he not be excited about it? Maybe it was just the fact that she's never done something like that before made it that much more appealing; like bungee jumping.
The rest of the conversation involving Haruka, Gemma remained quiet and impartial. She could see quite a few similarities, but she probably wouldn't let on, anyway. Being that she just met both of them, it would seem odd if she said something like that. "She's a vengeful girl, isn't she?" Gemma pointed to Haruka, smiling as she pointed this out. She was very frank.
"I mean, coming back after placing second last year, and then enrolling you with her without your permission, just because you did the same to her?" she chuckled lightly, lifting a hand to Matt's side. Who had was giving her a very odd look. She looked back at Nanami, confused as to why Matthew was looking at her like that. "Well, okay, maybe that wasn't the right word for the occasion... but, you know what I mean, right?" she asked Nanami, not hindered in the least. x████████x The Ordinary and The Cuckoo x████████x

Xeiro walked into the cooking festival with his hands in his pockets, he was honestly a little worried. He had never taken part in anything of the sorts, but something was calling him to join. He knew he'd have the dessert in the bag, but the rest kind of worried him. He didn't know very many people, and asking a random person to partner up would just be awkward. He took a breath and approached the kind-looking elderly woman at the table. "Hello there. This is where I sign up, correct?" He glanced down at the forms in front of him, smiling at her.
___________________________________
Raiden had stumbled in through the back, trying to be inconspicuous about his arrival. He was standing close to the tables, trying to keep from attention when he was approached by a few people. He refused to look up from the ground for the second, hoping they had some simple question. But, alas, they knew his identity. He looked up to see Dante smiling at him, without makeup. He smiled and nodded to both of them. He didn't recall ever seeing the girl that was with him, "Hello, forms are over there. All you have to do is fill them out and hand them to her." He pointed to Gladice and continued his gaze at the ground.

Crimson felt the cooking festival was as good of time as any to meet some new people around the town. Maybe he'd even find some recipes and taste some good food. He wasn't much for a cooker himself, but whenever he was in the kitchen he enjoyed experimenting. For now, he stood around waiting for things to get started. He lit up a cigarette and smiled as people passed, watching their conversations made him hate being alone. But, he had always lived the life of a loner. Why was it bothering him now?

Celeste had managed to locate the sign-up booth, though she gave it a wide berth. She didn't know if they would try to talk her into signing up, you know, kind of like those cell phone guys that hang out in the middle of the mall and try to talk you into buying thier merchandise. And while Celeste was pretty sure she didn't want to join, she was pretty easily convinced to do things. She really didn't like saying no to nice people. Even if all their flattery was false.
So to be safe, she avoided the booth. She passed by a tree that seemed to be oddly placed in the square, but didn't give it much thought. As she came out from behind it she finally saw a familiar face. A grin broke over her face at the long red hair, even the lit cigarette in his mouth couldn;t dim her joy. Changing direction slightly she headed for Crimson. She pulled out her earbuds as she went, then turned off her iPod. She stopped next him, grin still in place. "Hey, I wasn't expecting to see you here. But it's good to see a familiar face. How are you?" She asked happily.

Cooking Festival ❤ ❤ ❤(Mystery Girl X) (Frederick K. Murrow) (Maxwell McKnight) Frederick, still on the tree, moved his telescope, staring at Crimson. "You know, you shouldn't smoke. it's bad for your health and-" As he said this, being a talking tree and all, he noticed a head of orange hair, and quickly hushed down. It was Celeste. Talking to this smoker! Did she not know second hand smoke kills?! Or something stupid like that?! Oh wait, that guy was her boss.. yeah.. the pretty boy. Frederick pouted quietly in his tree. They're probably already sleeping together! That's how it works! So he should just stay quiet and listen to their flirting. Since.. has anyone even heard of a sad tree? ______
Was she truly a magician? She could not possibly be one and seem so.. oddly childish. I cannot say for sure, magicians are known for being tricky, always trying to get you to underestimate their ability. Surely she must be an expert, I must not fall for her magician trick. "Ah.. yes.. teamwork..." He responded quietly, scratching the back of his head. By teamwork, he was hoping for something more along the lines of 'do whatever I say or we will surely fail' "I, Maxwell the Brave, am pleased to make your acquaintance Ms Fleurrette..." Maxwell said as he took her hand, kissed it, and bowed. If it wasn't for the fact that he's a child, he would be one cute gentleman~

 Finally! The other two judges were there, which would give her a little break. They had so many contestant this year! Almost twice as much as the previous year from what she could see. She did take a small pleasure knowing that there was no sign of any panda around the town square. That could only be good news. She did gave a mean glare toward Dante. She still hadn't forgave him since last year. She had no respect for cheaters. Especially cheaters who did aweful meals like he and his brother had done the previous year. Thankfully, he didn't see her for the registration, but rather the guess judge. Good, she wouldn't have to deal with him. She did hear someone talking to her, however. Turning her attention back to the next in line, she realized it was Walter. How long had if been since she had last seen him? Almost half a year, if she recalled right. "Oh! Walter! Long time no see. Oh, don't worry, this old woman loves that kind of work. Did you knew I was champion six years in a row when I was younger? Oh, old times, old times." She laugh at the reminiscence as she filled the paperwork that was needed. Would he do good? She would peg him as being average. Still, better than that stupid twin over there. She hope he'd choked on a peanut and die. Was that mean? Perhaps, but he had asked for it. She then looked back at the next... very tall... very... muscular guy. That was entering? Well, wouln't that be... different. He reminded her of Yoakim... with more muscles, if that was possible. "Ah, yes sir. Just fill those forms and you are all good to go" She inform him.

 Nanami blinked at Gemma for a moment before bursting into laughter. "'Vengeful'? No, that's pretty damn accurate, actually," she grinned at the younger woman before elbowing her daughter playfully. "Hear that, Haruka? You're vengeful. Glad to see I've raised you well," she teased with a wink. Haruka just smiled coolly. Her mother was easily delighted by things like that. "Uh huh, keeping laughing," she answered simply before looking over at Gemma and Matthew to reassure them that she wasn't bothered at all. A lot of people misunderstood and assumed that she was easily irritated by things like this. When Nanami finished laughing, she grinned at the two once more after glancing over at the tables. "Oh, it looks like we'll be starting soon. It was nice to meet you, Gemma. And good to see you again, Matthew," she said finally, letting Haruka wave good-bye to them before the two made their way to their station. Alex let out a small sigh as he shifted his weight to his other foot. It was about time for the contest to begin, right? He was getting a little tired of standing around waiting. But sure enough, it looked like people were starting to get set up. He strolled over to a station, tying back his hair as he walked. His hair had been getting annoyingly long lately. He usually would just ask a sibling to trim his hair for him, but since Daniel had moved, he was without his only good option. There was no way he would trust River or Elliot with a pair of scissors. Even if they did trim their own bangs, there was a difference. Anyway, he tied his hair up and away from his face, and stopped at the nearest station.

Sleeping..? Uh. Not.. not really.. Conor was busy staring at the blank television screen in their apartment, deciding on whether he should dip into the weed and relax some or not. Making out with Blaire wasn't that big of a deal, right? ..But, it wasn't really that, was it? “Yeah..” He stated, not one to turn down a good excuse when he had one. He did feel guilty, but, ********, he was here, wasn't he? That was good enough for Keith! It better ******** be, because it wasn't.. He looked over the crowd again. No Blaire. Not that he wanted to see her, not now, anyway. He wouldn't know what to do if the girl showed up, but he shouldn't be thinking of her right then, he should be thinking of Keith.. Ah, ********. Had Conor mentioned how he hated this thinking bullshit? He scuffed his shoes on the pavement idly before the old woman announced that the contest was to start. He looked back at Keith and motioned towards the tables, “Let's go.” Conor didn't waste anymore words while he moved by Keith to lead the way to one of the tables, where he stopped and stared at him. Well, he didn't know where to start!
~~~
..There wasn't really much of a line when it came to Mao. Honestly, he didn't care much for anything, so it was somewhat true that insulting his looks, friends, home, plants, neph- er, niece, cooking, well.. anything, wouldn't phase him much. But, that wouldn't make him human, would it? No, the correct thing to say was that an insult towards almost everything wouldn't hurt him very much. Yes, that sounded better and more honest. Everyone had their little insecurities, even a man like Mao, and little Freja had just found his. His heart almost stopped at what she opened their exchange with, his eyes widening a fraction and his face dropping from perpetual disinterest to something more.. worried and distressed.
His accent? He.. he didn't have one! He never had one! He had been practicing for ever to get rid of what little he had and, by now, he spoke just as well as any true-blooded English-speaker did! He.. no. No, he knew what was happening. She just thought she heard an accent because she could see he was Chinese! It wasn't that he had it, it was that she had tricked herself into believing he had one and he really was perfect when it came to his speech. Yes, he could start breathing normally again now with that firmly in place to sooth his ego. He cleared his throat, “Don't be delusional.” He replied harshly, sounding as if he wanted to eat her alive in that oddly even tone. Probably would if he had the chance, actually – there were some unique rituals involving cannibalism. Now, he had to drop the topic before she had a chance to say something more. Hurry, insult her.. her.. “A better cook than any prancing fairy who believes in sawfly legs.” He quipped quickly enough and raised a brow, still remembering her funny argument last they met. “I would assume you are only here to observe, considering someone like you joining would result in complete failure.” She would end up just poisoning everyone, he bet.
Keith nodded and moved toward their stations. It was rare for the boys to be so... silent, but lately had been very awkward for them both. Something just wasn't right, but neither wanted to speak or even think about it. No, going along with the flow was a much better solution. Now, to wait.
---------
"I'll have you know that I am an excellent cook! Much better than anything you could do!" No, she was not. She was average at the very best. With the fact that she put dried up bat wings on almost anything she cooked just made her even worst. She Grabbed some form form Gladice Table, signed them both and dragged Mao to a station. "Ah! Now we will see who's the best cook!.... Oh... I.. I think I... signe us...to-togehter..." She had realized too late that putting both their names on the same page meant they were under the same team. This was ought to be intesting.
x████████x MATTHEW COLLINS and GEMMA RHODESx████████x Both Matthew and Gemma returned Haruka's wave, watching the Mother/Daughter go to the stations. As soon as the two women were out of earshot, Matthew turned on Gemma. Crossing his arms over his chest and giving her a 'big brother' look, which she never liked; unless she was the one doing it. "What?" she asked, in a rather defensive tone.
"You know what." Matthew informed her, his voice cool and detached.
"Oh come on! I'd much rather a stranger tell me the truth and be frank then giving me pretty lies! And, hey, if you hadn't noticed, they actually laughed about it." Gemma defended herself, stomping her foot like a sulky child.
"Did you just stomp your foot? I thought girls only did that on tv..." Matthew noted, looking down at the foot she had stomped to the ground.
Then, surprisingly, "Drop the act, Matt. We both know your just trying to impress the redhead into thinking your responsible and caring about other people's feelings, especially about how you twisted the whole story about Carly so that you would seem sympathetic. So, I repeat, drop it." Gemma smirked, a malicious glint coming to her eyes. "Oh, and I didn't mean your jaw. You can close that. It's rude to anyone who's looking." Gemma said, before strolling off to wherever she was strolling off to.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What the ********> Did she just... did Gemma just Jedi Mind trick him? Holy crap! His jaw had even fell lower when she made her dramatic sweep. Oh, and Nanami thought that Haruka was a sneak! What else could he say? Gemma just totally and utterly shocked him. She was usually sweet in her own way, but he supposed that living on her own has changed her. But when did she turn into such a b***h? Honestly, he kinda liked it. Back when they were younger, she didn't have much of a backbone. She'd probably just ignore you or refuse to talk to you at all.
But to actually use it on him? Oh, touché, Gemma, touché.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, what a rush! Gemma had to fight the urge to look over her shoulder at her stunned cousin, but that would just ruin it. Either way, he wouldn't be able to stay mad at her, no one ever did. And besides, he was being mean to just show her up in that other woman's eyes, whether she noticed or not!
But now that she was alone, she had no idea what to do. Matthew was the only real person she knew here. So, instead, she simply held her arms around herself and watched as all the competitors gathered and got ready. Was she supposed to cheer for Nanami and Haruka? Most likely. In any case, for now, she refused to go back to her cousin. x████████x The Ordinary and The Cuckoo x████████x
