"Now now, look here, if you hurt me you'll be hurting kitten too." He smiled and took a step back as wings unfurled and slowly wound around him. He ran a finger along the wing's bone and then lifted the blood from it to his lips. "Isn't there some human saying about never hitting a lady?"
She cursed and swore at him, but she was prepared. If Alyosha killed her, she would understand... after all, there was no clean way to force him out of her body. Not with the contract, not with the agreement and everything she had already done. She was too entertwined with this demon... she had damned herself, and this she knew... she just had never considered it would end up hurting someone else.

The voice wasn't Sy's. It might have been coming from her lips but it wasn't hers. "Well, I'm not a human so I don't have that problem, mmm?" he grinned, his lips curling up, teeth protruding and sharp. He was on the curb of changing, put there by the sudden events but with easily enough control to keep him from falling over the edge. "Who ARE you" he demanded, figuring rushing into anything was possibly not the best of ideas. He had no idea what this creature was, having never come into contact with anything of its like before. "And why are you... in Sy" his eyebrows almost met in the scowl which crossed his face.

"How nice of you to ask! You see, I am a gracious incubus who decided to bring kitten back to life if she took a measely seven lives for me... which isn't much to ask considering her extensive background and her son that depends on her lifesource." He smiled and ran his hand through her hair, taking a moment to relish in the feeling of being materialized and out of hell. She took good care of his hair.
"Rather generous I think... but she developed a sudden lack of motivation with her latest target, so I just had to come and help kitten out." He let the long black hair fall through his fingers and put his hand on his hip, evaluating Alyosha. "It'll be a shame to destroy such a beautiful face."

Alyosha's lips spread into a twisted grin of their own. From his mouth poked a pointed tongue which ran over his prominant teeth. He was getting restless, his body was ready for action and he was going nowhere fast.
An incubus, eh? a demon. Hmm. His constant referring to Sy as kitten annoyed Alyosha. She was more like a sabre-tooth than a kitten. He almost pitied the incubus for a moment until it addressed him.
So, it had a sense of humour. Hmph. "Destroy, eh?" he questioned it. As he spoke, half of his face seemed to wobble then, in a viscous slide, fall downwards. The contorted mess that was half of his face held only a glowing golden patch of light which served as an eye. In an instant it regained its shape, flowing back once more to its previous proportions.
Alyosha rolled his shoulders back, looking at the incubus which wasn't Sy anymore. "Well then, little demon, what are you waiting for. Help the good lady hmm?"

"I had a sudden urge to be a gentleman and let you get in your last hit." He lowered his hand and from it sprung dark energy shaped like a sword but with a strange curve in it near the end of its 4-foot-length. He could feel her fighting him suddenly, as if she was having a burst of energy and morality.
"Stupid b***h," he muttered as he whipped the sword forward and moved his left leg back, studying Alyosha. If this man was viscous as he looked, it'd be harder than normal to hit him and he'd have to adjust to this body fast. He feinted a thrust and swung the dark energy sword around to cut at Alyosha's side.

Alyosha didn't bother to move, his eyes concentrating on the movements of his opponent. The curved sword met its mark and slid straight through from back to front. At his age Alyosha had already mastered making the majority of his body fluid. Water, indeed, made up a high percentage of any animal's body and it was nothing for him to relocate that to particular parts of himself.
Pure liquid water was all the sword cut though. He could maintain this for a while, so long as the sword didn't actually catch him on a non-fluid part. Against single-weapon enemies this had always been the best strategy, no need for the higher energy sapping techniques.
Using this time was essential. He had to try to figure out what to do with this creature. It had spoken true - harming it would mean harming her but then... this was his life he was protecting, and Alyosha had never exactly been philanthropic.
A plan was forming in the back of his mind. It might work, it was risky but... so was trying to dodge this thing which was coming at him now.

As he pulled back his sword he took a step back, re-evaluating for a moment. So this man was able to make himself into water, it seemed to him. His mind raced at any, if at all, vulnerabilities he could possibly have. He was swinging again when the idea suddenly occured to him. His head! Maybe he could swing at his head!
Mid-swing he arced his sword upwards to cut through Alyosha's face, but it stopped at his chin, the dark purple and black energy licking at his jaw. For a moment his hand trembled and he couldn't force himself to move it. It wasn't his arm anymore, she had seized it from him momentarily... enough to let Aly dodge.
Well, wasn't she a clever little saint.

He moved backwards at the upslice, slightly surprised by the suddenness of the demon's attacks. It was random but he already knew what it was trying. All intelligent creatures assumed the head or brain was the centre of power or vulnerable with any attacks.
Any kitsune would tell you this was not so. Their power source could be located within a small ball of energy which was free to move around within and outwith their body. Alyosha's confidence grew as he came to understand thios creature a little better. It had no clue as to what he was, it was obvious by its moves. Its clumsiness and hesitance showed that it was not fully in control of the body it possessed.
He couldn't really see many ways out of the situation except the one plan which stuck in his mind. It was now or never, he couldn't tell whether this thing would be able to control her body better as it used it. Sy seemed to have the upper hand for a second and a second was all that was needed.
As he stepped back, he pivoted around on one foot, ducking and spinning under its outstretched arms. His whole body moved in a way no solid thing should, contorting as it wrapped itself around her body. He clasped her in his arms. His limbs were solid again, his torso was not.
Quickly, harshly, he pulled her whole body back. She was much smaller than he was and pulling her back brought her almost off of her feet. As she fell back against him she didn't stop, continuing until she was partwards within his body. His arms held fast, his eyes glittering determinedly as he held her face backwards inside his watery torso, some of it being drawn away as it trailed into a mouth which was forced open by the strained neck muscles.

They gasped for breath together and struggled, their mission for once the same... to escape. It was a primal urge, a primal fear of death that bound them together that instant, this tiny microcausm in time. She faught valiantly despite having told herself she accepted dying again, and he fought as if the body was his own. He didn't want to return to hell, to being imprisoned down there, and she didn't want to so easily hand over her body and fate.
As her mouth failed to find air, as she slowly drowned, she calmed while he kept surging with energy. This is what had to happen. It was the right thing... she would die, and he would live. She'd have to trust Alyosha, regardless of how long she knew him. This was her contract, her price, not his.
As incubus issued forth last decrees and profanities she rested calmly in the depths of her body and the recesses of herself. The body slowly died and strings between the world of the dead and the living started to drag them downwards as her body sagged, her heart stopped, her lungs came to halt, and her limbs stiffened.

It was hard, holding the will of not one but two people who wanted desperately to survive. As soon as he felt her body stiffen Alyosha dropped to his knees, letting her body slide from him. His torso reformed, still liquid but seemed a little thinner. The water that filled her lungs was from him and now he drew it back. Rushing from her lips and nose, it 'poured' back to him in a weird backwards fountain. Her lungs emptied, he leaned down. No pulse, no breathing.
He moved her head to the floor, knelt at her side and decided that the manual way was the only way for it. Tipping her head back, opening her cold mouth he leaned down, his torso stiffening back into flesh as he took a breath into his own, reformed, lungs. He filled her lungs, her chest expanding, and placed his hands over her chest, pushing down in a rhythmic motion which both stimulated the heart and pushed the air from her lungs.
It had been a risky strategy and as he repeated the exercise he hoped it hadn't been a fatal one.
"Damn you, Sy!" he muttered, between breaths.

Suddenly there was a figure leaning over Alyosha, peering at him from the side as he went to breathe into her mouth. There was no scent from him, none at all, but he looked normal. Brown short hair, brown eyes, a white shirt, brown trousers, black boots. He looked like someone's kid that was just getting out of high school... and beyond that, he looked human.
"Huh... you can let me take care of that, you know. It's much easier if she's already dead to take care of this." He smiled a little and pulled Alyosha back a moment, before he had done more than one CPR repetition.
She was falling through blackness... falling with the incubus. He was laughing as he dragged her down, pulling her with his grip, her contract seeming to bind her towards him. No! No, this wasn't fair!

Alyosha, loath to be parted from her, not knowing who in hell this strange figure was, resisted at first. His... lack of "presence" tugged at Alyosha who could smell nothing of him, sense nothing of him and could hear no breath from him.
"Help her." It was an order not a question. If this boy were to harm her then God help him - after what he had gone through for her he felt like literally biting the head off of someone.
All of this strangeness was getting to him and he felt his hackles rising. This was worrying as he strictly avoided having hackles at most times. He shuffled a little to the side, taking deep gulps of air as he tried to compensate for the low oxygen levels in his body caused by his momentary lack of lungs.

The young man smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry. Although I have to admit, I am surprised you care so much. I heard she didn't have any friends." He shrugged and bent down on one knee. "Ne, onii-chan, come back~!"
Suddenly he slipped away, his hand slipping from hers like putty and she was rushing up fast, faster, fastest. There was a blinding flash like someone had just blinded her with a burst from a camera and then slowly she felt her body. Her body, all hers! She was alive!
"I apologize." He smiles again at Alyosha. "It's hard to track down people who change planes of existance, ne? She should have never even ended up in a place where that incubus could have talked her into any sort of contract. I do hope she hasn't caused too much trouble?"
=_=;; She didn't know who the punk she heard was, but it was RUDE to talk about someone was lying right there where they could be heard. Men! They were all the same!

Alyosha sat back, arms supporting him as he finally caught his breath. He felt slightly cool, tired and more than a little peeved. For a minute he sat in silence, his eyes only flickering back to Sy to check that she was, against all odds, alive.
But only for a minute.
"WHAT THE HELL?!"

After a moment she regained enough feeling to sit up and she glared at both men with anger dancing in her eyes, shaking a fist. "Where do you get off talking about me like I'm some bother. Ehhh? If I wasn't supposed to end up where I did, whose fault is that?!"
The young lad sat and rubbed his head, looking at Alyosha. "Is she always like this? This wasn't in her profile."
"Hey! Ask me, not him!" She glared at the young man and then turned to Alyosha, shaking a fist at him as well. "And you, you drowned me in your chest and then kissed me! ;_; I feel violated."
"Oro? You seemed calm and actually rather happy, I thought."
eek stressed redface Stupid empaths...
The youth stood again and bowed to the two. "I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Tryon, and I am a Shinigami. I'm afraid I had to wait for you to die again, onii-chan, because that's the only way I can make you a Shinigami. While making a contract with a demon would send you to Yomi, you did it for a selfless reason, and considering the situation, we've decided you'd best serve as a Shinigami. That way you aren't really alive or dead, and you can help us."
Syrenrei only seemed to be half listened as her shirt was in shreds and despite her traumatic experience, she was preoccupied with looking decent.
