The Vansin

Genius

PostPosted: Sun May 30, 2010 8:37 pm

"Because you're such a considerate friend to Mr. Jaeger, I will try not to begrudge you for having the stones to tell a man who was minding his own business and was attacked to walk away from where he was going. Where I come from, such a thing would be considered very rude." He said with a slight edge to his voice, one which immediately melted away after he'd spoken it.

"You'll have to thank Mr. Jaeger later, his good reputation has protected you from what might have been a very monotonous lecture, even more so than the one I'm giving you now." He said and, with a finger raised to his brow and a short tip of his head at Ed and Roen, Vansin walked away.

EDIT: And sat down near the poker table. Far enough to be inviting to anyone who might be interested in conversing with him, but close enough to observe the passing of the hands in the game itself.

What's this? Am I so boring? You had best win, my dear, he whispered to her through the rings.

Faustina's blush grew ever deeper, taken by the compliment. A beautiful smile graced her lips as Cyrus introduced herself, a courtesy which she knew expected the same in return even if he hadn't asked for it. Bowing her head respectfully, she replied, her voice filled with all her humility, "...Thank you..." Raising, her gleaming eyes met his, holding the gaze in spite of the butterflies raging inside her. "My name is..."

It was then that her eyes spotted the reporter, and panic grew. Worried eyes dodged between he and Cyrus, and in a hasty decision she stepped closer to the man, one white-gloved hand laying gently along the right side of his neck to hold him close so she could whisper, "...Faustina Jaeger."

And with that, the young Devil pulled away and made her retreat, slipping off into the crowd.

If he approached her again like that, he deserved whatever he got. The thought occurred to her that this might be one of her competitors and a chill went up her spine.

Watching her keenly, he moved easily over to the bar, still unfortunately without clothing adorned on his body. Taking a seat next to her on the bar, he once again smiled, straightening his tie..

"Why does this make people so uncomfortable? The human form in its natural state?"

He laughed lightly as he once again gained her attention. "So, if I were to place myself in clothing, you would be more willing to actually carry on a civil conversation with me? Or would you still hold this awkward tension between us?"

Cyril held a curious tone as he awaited her response. He wasn't particularly sure, as he knew that his standard clothing wasn't exactly concealing as well, so it wasn't as if he would be covered much more.

Sokoya Ramak
"Service b***h. Do you have any?"

"There's no reason a lady should have to talk like that."

The strained politeness in the advice was accompanied by a few drops of crimson sloshing onto the bartop beside her hands as a two-penny red plastic cup full of punch was put onto the counter and slid over. Unless someone had spiked it (which was incredibly likely) when the others weren't looking it was no doubt non-alcoholic and not at all the type of service she had been hoping for. But it was what she got.

"Why so glum, chum?" The man boy that had come up next to her was more than comically mismatched with the rest of the attendance at this ball. At a hair under sixteen years old Anson managed to pull off the 'awkward teenager in a rented suit' look flawlessly, and with the rest of the ball seeming to descend into chaos, catfights, and spontaneous poker games around them any island of calm in the middle of this storm seemed to attract all types of bystanders and gawkers alike.

"C'mon. I'm all ears."

Rhoslyn Vernal

Roen Jaeger
Isn't that the Devil who destroyed Puerto Diablo?'

Rhoslyn had grown only more annoyed as more people showed up, each one making their entrance more and more fancy. Bad enough that the Seelie b***h was flaunting it, but this guy wasn't even a Sidhe. His mood not having improved through wandering around and such, Rhoslyn had more or less made up his mind to confront the son-of-a-b***h, especially given the whispers that he was behind Puerto getting destroyed. Whispers he believed, because he knew the smell of that black magic that'd lingered in the city for a few days, and the source had just been here.

Unfortunately, the devil didn't seem to be around where Rhoslyn could see him. So, it was time to find the nearest microphone.

***

Five minutes later, the fey tapped it, causing that particular thump thump noise to come from the speakers.

"Excuse me, ladies and gentleman, I need your attention for a minute."

His voice echoed from dozens of speakers, and he put his glamour up dramatically - it was almost as though the room had gotten a few shades darker, and he was standing in the world's biggest spotlight. He'd wait a few seconds for there to be silence (or close to it), and then grinned and spoke.

"Some of you were kind enough to tell me that a certain devil who made a rather... cheesy entrance just a while ago is rumored by many to be behind the destruction of Puerto Diablo."

A few people looked uncomfortable. Others looked around for the nearest exit, but most just kept watching him with mild interest.

"I, for one, happen to believe these rumors. So, Mister-" (the emphasis was added to make it an insult) "Jaeger, you owe me a pound of flesh and a quart of blood for your despicable, calculated, mass murder of my people. Get your sorry a** up here and deliver, or get the <********> outta here and stay the ******** out, because the next time I come calling to collect, it'll be for your head... b***h."

Now, there was silence. Well, for a second or two.

"That's all. Enjoy your evening, ladies and gentlemen."

Rhoslyn threw the mike down, once again looking through the crowd for the puffed-up little devil, one hand resting on his saber's hilt.

Esouna was understandably drinking rather more slowly, due to her reduced proportions. "It was, but they did some damage to my wings, too." The fairy flexed her sensory wings, the larger and much slower pair. Her species actually had two sets, which made their physiology seriously complicated. "First? Be careful, because the competition is angry at anything and everything." She pulled a strand of gold hair behind her ear, then resumed sucking on the straw. This was like the equivalent of twenty drinks for her.

Cyrus blushed at her action as he saw her slip away only to be followed by...reporters? Either he just flirted with superstar or with a criminal or with royalty. He presumed superstar or royalty since her manners were impeccible and she was beatiful beyond words tell.

From that point he would resume as planned to the present and continue gambline

Link stood up, gathered his belongings, and left the table with the milk.

Vivi was cleaning up too many chips.

I thought you were busy playing fisticuffs. You owe me a glass of wine. But forget that for now. My Martini is 'ere.

And indeed, Viviana's Martini was there. She glanced down at her hand and cocked her head to one side.

"I 'ope your cards are better than mine, gentleman."

Aila smirked as she looked around at the many faces she's already been so accustomed to seeing. Viviana was even here, one she honestly didn't expect to see. Sipping her... millionth lemon drop, Aila would make her way over to the card table and leaned on one of the sides, speaking softly, Room for one more? She flashed the players a soft and sweet smile as her eye lashes batted, waiting for a response.

Archie gave a small nod. "Well thanks for the tip. It'll keep that in mind when I go into battle." He nodded taking a look around the room a little and then coming back to Esouna. "But at the same time if anyone thinks they could underestimate me, they'll be sorry. I have a few tricks up my sleeves." He gave off a small little laugh.

The Darkened Devil was off somewhere near the buffet table, massaging his swollen right hand with napkins and ice, muttering under his breath about thick-headed Vansin. When Rhoslyn made his announcement, Roen looked up, narrowed his sanguine eyes, and regarded the man with furrow brows for a few moments before looking back towards his agonized hand. He didn't leave the ballroom nor did he step up to claim responsibility.

He was too busy nursing his wounded hand after nearly going the full nine with Vansin.

"Seer damn tossers," the Devil grumbled, his tail thrashing every so often behind him in agitation, "I can't cater to you all. Where the hell is my date?" Throwing the napkin and ice down onto the table, Roen would lift his right hand into his left and massage, lips pursed.

This is why he couldn't have anything nice.

"Ah. Aila." Viviana said, recognizing the succubus' distinctive accent.

"I am afraid the game 'as begun. Perhaps the next round?" The Lamia offered her a small smile, before turning back to her cards and frowning.

"Let's live dangerously..." she muttered to herself

"There's no reason a lady should have to talk like that."

Ha.

"Hardly a lady." She'd reply, glancing over towards the man that'd approached her. Though, when she did, Sokoya gave the kid a double take. They were letting in participants that young enter? Sure, she'd killed a person by his age, but she was hardly the type to go around and enter fights while still in her teen years.

Not one to stare, the silvery haired benefactor would take the offered drink without much way of hesitation. She even gave it a satisfactory sip, to show some sort of appreciation. And after doing so, the drink would be all but forgotten in her hand. A device to shoo away anyone offering to buy her a drink.

Turning now, the twenty something would lean her back against the bar top, her elbows pulled back and propped up against it all casual like. Her eyes sweeping the room once more to take in the scenery before falling back on the teenager. Gaze like rubies from the pit of hell, her curious stare made some men uneasy. Some sort of predatory vibe to it that shook up their game.

"Why so glum, chum?"

At this, she'd offer a grin. "Oh you know. I heard there was a party, and I was really let down. Unless all the drugs are in the back room." Sokoya would reply, arching a singular slender eyebrow. Another sip for good measure.

And then, counter-question.

"Aren't you a little young to be relaxing at the bar?"

Aila straightened herself and smiled at the woman, Fair enough. She brought her plump lips to the emptying glass and blinked slowly, paying close attention to the hands and cards being dealt throughout the players. Card counting was something Aila was decent at, and she smiled before finishing off her drink.
