Karin bit her lip until she tasted blood, so her suspicions were somewhat correct. Karin had caught the fleeting look of unhappiness on Elias' face when Aura had spoke to him, "I know the secret passages well enough," She broke in, "I found them years ago when Mr. Gilfax first gave me a tour of the mansion, but that isn't important right now. We have to find the rest of your family and Alex." Karin was partly lying, she hadn't found the passages during the tour. She had found them when she was cleaning a lamp holder and the entire wall flipped on her, Karin had explored the entire maze of passages when she finally found a way out.

The man laughed. "Oh yes, they will. Of course. How can I be so stupid to leave evidence." He replied.
Alex's hope faltered. "Whatever."

"I know the passages as well," Aura said quietly. "But Karin's right. Let's go. You can walk, right?"

"No, you haven't missed anything, Aura," Elias reassured. "Besides the structure of the mansion, though, I don't think I know much more than you -- up until the point when you found me, I'd been blindfolded, and the kidnappers didn't spill any clues... I want to find my old man, and Elisa, too. Did you know that all of these hidden rooms are connected?"
Lee agreed thoughtfully. " This mansion is huge, but there aren't many rooms in the open to compensate for its size... if we just search all of the places, we're bound to find where all of these schemers are at some point. And Mr. and Miss Gilfax..."
"I can walk fine, so let's get going," Elias set his mouth in a grimace and started for the closest hidden room.

The man laughed and walked away. The knife was gone from her throat ans Alex started to work on the ropes again.

"We can go anywhere in this mansion as long as we don't approach the room on the southeaster part of the mansion." Karin said tightly, "Let's get going, we're wasting time."

Aura followed at the back of the group as they trekked through the house. She listened for noises, and kept her eyes open for danger. As they walked, she thought of ways she could be helpful in the situation. As far as she knew, she was the youngest one there, but she still felt helpless and useless at the moment.

Karin stopped suddenly when she heard something out of ordinary, but it was gone so quickly she decided it had to be a mistake. Mistakes could be important though, sometimes things that were dismissed as mistakes could have been something invaluable. They were right under the raven now, she just had to figure out how to get up.

"What's wrong, Karin?" Aura asked, noticing she was distracted about something. She glanced up as well and guessed they were looking for a way up. With a grin of triumph she noticed a small hook on the large window behind the raven.
I don't know how great my aim is... but it's worth a try... She pulled out her six hair pins and twisted them to make a hook. This she threaded through one end of the rope and threw it. Miss.
A few more tosses later though, the pin caught the window hook and stayed. Pulling the rope to make sure it was secure, she offered the loose end of the long rope to Karin.
"Or would you prefer I climb? What are you looking for?"

Alex acted like she was still tied when the man returned. "So where am I?" She asked.
"I can't very well tell you that now can I?" He replied.

Karin smiled at Aura, "Thanks for the way up, that was a great idea. I can climb, there's a red slip of paper sticking from its mouth. I'll see if I can get it." She grabbed the end of the rope and shinnied up, dangling in front of the statue, Karin grabbed the paper and slid back down. Opening it, Karin identified the code that Elisa and Elias had devised. She had seen it millions of times but had never figured it out. Handing it to Aura, Karin asked, "Can you decode this?"

Alex sighed. "It's not like I can go anywhere. I'm kinda tied up at the moment. No pun intended." She said.
The man nodded. "I supose...Still, i'm not going to tell you."

((Lol, that was actually a nice pun! hahah))
"No problem," aura said, scrutinizing the hieroglyphs. She had hardly gotten past the first line, with only 8 letters, when she looked up. "Um...Anyone here know german?"
Why would Elisa write the message in german? She doesn't even know it! She'd have to use a translator and all that...so why deliberately use german and the code?
