I've read that story. It is very sad. sad
I think orange paper cranes would be a very elegant thing. And maybe a quote from the story if anybody could find it. Something about the cranes and being healed.

If I could have just one wish, I would wish that you were here each day, To look after me and tell me what was right and wrong, To hear you breathing when we speak to each other, To feel the warmth of your hand in mine, And when my heart goes to your chest to feel a heart beating ... alive, Knowing that you were here and you would never leave my side, Knowing you were a brother that I could still have fun and muck about with, Knowing that when I needed you, you would be there, And know that you wouldn't have to sit in pain, Now you're gone and wont come back, I need you so but there is no way I can see you, Until one day when I come to visit everything might be back to normal, One day, In the future, Who knows, Now that I've been diagnosed we meet earlier than expected. `````````````````````````````````````````````````````` As I sit here alone and think of her face
wondering, wondering why it has to take place.
A battle once won or so we had thought
now the cancer is back a cure we had sought.
Now the fight starts again to win this deadly war
to hold on to my mom and settle the score.
My heart breaks for her and all that she faces
and all I can give is love, support, and embraces.
Unfair it all is this terrible disease
can take such a toll don't destroy her please.
she's all that I have and all I want to be
I can't live without her don't take her from me.
God help her be strong and win this fight
so she can stay with me and be my shining light

I am very sorry for my absence, my net has become wonky, and the soonest the cable guy can come to check it is saturday. It's working for now, and I'll do everything I can while it keeps going. Please be patient, and keep talking to each other, sharing art and poetry with each other, I'll be back as soon as possible.

Ok, so I did a search for quotes and pictures of paper cranes.
I unearthed some tidbits of information as well.
While, in the story Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes says that she never reached her goal, apparently, she actually did and kept folding cranes even after that. Although other sources claim she only reached 644... though I'm not entirely sure what to believe from all the different sources of information I found. The first bit about her completing the cranes was on Wikipedia, which I actually really trust for anything that isn't a hot button issue, which I think this would fall under that category. This all probably doesn't matter too much, though. I just wanted to put this here because some of my quotes include this "644" stopping point, while there is a possibility that it is incorrect.
Anyway, here are some images that i found. Since I'm pretty good with graphics, I could make some signatures with these images and quotes. Just say the word.

Quotes (not all necessarily from the story):
"Sadako Sasaki was only two years old when an atomic bomb destroyed her hometown of Hiroshima, Japan. A decade later, she was diagnosed with leukemia. Inspired by a Japanese legend that promises a wish to anyone who folds 1,000 origami cranes, Sadako began making paper cranes in the months before her death, completing 644 before losing her battle with cancer."
"I will write peace on your wings and you will fly all over the world”
“This is our cry, this is our prayer: peace in the world.”
“She was told, if she folded 1,000 paper cranes the gods would grant her wish, she wished to get well, ... She ended up folding 644 cranes before she died.”
Any other ideas are very much welcome!
love dani dude

@ blonde lite: yes, I know. I looked it up on tektek, later and found that the only item that has cranes is the "Gift of the Goddess" collectible, which is somewhat pricey. However, if nothing else, if it is possible for members of the team to purchase this item, if only for themselves, or if they already have this item, equipping either of the forms with cranes could be a good show of Team Leukemia spirit.
It was just an idea, anyway. It's looking like our best bet is a signature with a crane in, though, if we're wanting to go with this idea.

I've actually folded 1,000 paper cranes.
Well, at this point, I've folded well over 1,000 cranes. I did my first 1k back in high school. A friend taught me some basics of Origami in grade 7. I can fold simple "lucky stars" on up to some really complex items.
If you want to do something with cranes, I can fold a few and take pictures to incorporate into some sort of graphic. (Graphic design is not exactly my area. smile )

@Yugure:I indeed read about that too,she got to 644 and died, the UN folded the rest and chose to make her wish for her, which was for world peace, that's why they use it as one of their symbols today, sweet huh?

I thought her wish was to get well but I could also see world peace, seeing as how it was war that made her sick in the first place.
OMG, Yugure! Those are so cool! :0 And all the work you did to pull that together too.^^ So awesome!!
