Sal ♫ ♪ "A heart should learn music before it beats for another." ♪ ♫ ♪ Sal rolled her eyes at the thought. Was he serious when he said 'if you play your cards right'? She had dealt him the cards and in these types of gambles, the dealer always won. He had to watch how he played his cards. The young woman tied on her apron and covered her washed hands in mittens before flipping the rolls. The scent of them sent her back to her mother's kitchen when cakes had to be baked for various occasions. Nami was her pride and joy in the cooking arena and since nothing else mattered really, the older daughter was simply put, their pride and joy. The stung at the back of her head as Sal dressed the rolls as she saw fit.
Firstly, she made a light but pepper-flavoured cheesepaste, filled an icing cone with it and stuffed the rolls with the pale yellow substance. Once this was done, she placed them in the display case and washed up the dishes while waiting for customers to come in off the street and order. Sal stood patiently by the cashier machine, her mind still sorting through the demographics of the customer population. For now, the crowd was young adults and one or two matured people. Naomi "Sometimes the idea of love should just leave me alone." While Vincent tried his awful luck again at getting her to join him for breakfast, Naomi had her eyes trained on the trickle of blood that escaped the wound once his finger vanished from it. "Put that finger back in there. I should have some clothes that you could use till yours get here. I don't feel like searching Vas' room. The possibility of finding anything and everything is too high and no, I don't know if the word 'can't' is even in his vocabulary."
At this point, she was talking to herself and pacing the room with her blood stained PJs. "As for your invitation to breakfast, I might have to take you up on that. Just let me go for that kit before you die ever so slowly from that thing in your side. Immediately, she scrambled off the floor and made a beeline for her dresser in the room. There jerseys and shorts for him. Naomi grabbed her medical kit and a few more pieces of clothes for her to change up there. A few minutes later, she returned and marched over to Vincent with his clothes.
"Here, these are yours for now. When your stuff comes, I want it back please," she said flatly, staring him down. "You should go bathe first, if you want to, of course before I redress your wound. There is a bathroom down the hall, third door on your right. Otherwise, enjoy your meal and I'll fix up as soon as I can. I'll go for my bath after you. Blood got on my good pajamas." She frowned at the last statement, looking down at the mess. "Vincent, you owe me a set of PJs," whispered Naomi in an offhand manner. [At least, you can hang out with your friends. Hardly do I get to do that. I'm trying to change that though. As for your papers, I hope that you find them. Positive thinking works wonders! biggrin ] Jesus is my Lord ♥

Vassili
Vassili brought back more dishes and realized that he had served everyone. He had waited on everyone and had bussed for everyone. He sidled over to Sal and leaned against the counter. With a casual flick he moved a stray strand of her hair over her ear and then reached into the case and grabbed one of her creations. It was good, but it was more fun to play with her. He blanched as he bit into the pastry and looked at her.
"What on Earth did you do to these poor pastries?" He couldn't quite keep the laugh out of his voice and knew he had given himself away already. Still, he was hoping she would play along.

"Okay nurse I'm ready for that new bandage." He chuckled lightly, grimacing slightly as the laughter made pain shoot up his side.

Sal ♫ ♪ "A heart should learn music before it beats for another." ♪ ♫ ♪ Her lips pursed immediately. "And what exactly do you mean by that?" Sal took a wooden spoon and tapped him playfully on the shoulder with a less than serious face for herself. "That was my mum's receipe. Now, I'm going to have to teach a lesson." The girl eyed him with a twinkle in her eye before grabbing him by the front of his apron and leading him out of the view of the eating area.
On the way, Sal took up the bowl of cheesepaste. Once in the corner, she hopped up on the counter, placed the bowl in her lap and smirked at Vas. Nami would kill if she was doing this with customers right there. Keeping her eyes trained on the man in front of her, Sal scooped up a bit of paste and smeared it along the base of her neck. "I don't think the pastries did a good job of complimenting the taste. What do you think?" She eyed him, exposing her neck. Naomi "Sometimes the idea of love should just leave me alone." Naomi glared at him as she sat down, pulling the kit closer. "Don't look at me like that. It's not cute."
Firstly, she cleaned it out again. She did not even look up to see if it was hurting him or not. It was not as though she cared. Her fingers worked at a satisfactory pace with applying the cloth that was soaked in spirits and removing any other germ ridden substances from the opening as well as inside the small wound. She wiped at her brow. When was the last time that she had to do this? Her mom was always getting herself in trouble and late nights found them in this very position: Naomi taking care of someone else. She should have been used to it by now. If it was not family, it was friends and if neither, there was always the vast supply of strangers.
The woman took a new roll of bandages and cut off a square. "Here," she said, taking Vincent's hand abruptly and placing over the gauze that covered the hole, "hold that in place." Once his hand secured it, Naomi took the roll and started wrap around him. Ever so often, she had to press against his chest to get it around but it didn't bother her. It was just another chest. Once the wrapping was completed, she pinned it in place and closed the kit. "I'm assuming that you're not going to bathe now then."
She took one of the drinks that she had stolen from the kitchen. "I'm thinking of closing shop early. We need it." The manager was swallowing some water when her words came back to her and she had to fight really hard not to spit it out. Her eyes opened wide as she looked over at Vincent for his reaction if any. "I mean, my employees need it. This morning was not exactly the least tiring."[Edited for the sake of grammar.] Jesus is my Lord ♥

Vassili chuckled as she smeared the paste on her neck and was about to grab he when that damned bell rang. He nearly yelled in anger, then saw Sal was moving to answer it, forgetting the paste. He grabbed her arm and spun her back around easily.
"They can wait a minute or two. I still need to get that rich flavor your talking about." He leaned in slowly and licked a little off the left side of her neck, then the right. He licked a little more off and then sucked more off. He sucked the rest off, but managed to keep some on his lips.
"I'm not quite sure it's right. Missing something. Lets see." He leaned in and kissed her just a fraction then farther and licked her lips and then his own.

"I'll take one in a little bit. Just want to sit and take a nap maybe. You know?" Her words rang out and he nearly laughed. She corrected her self, but that devious grin spread anyways.
"Oh no I think we need it, you and I. Maybe go out and get some dinner. There is a very nice restaurant across the square. Or shall we just stay in?" He reached out and pulled her closer, not exactly hard in the room with all of Vassili's things.

Naomi "Sometimes the idea of love should just leave me alone." Naomi allowed herself to pulled in and then, she straddled him. It was an unexpected action to her so she could only imagine how he was feeling about it. Her eyes found his and her face showed for once how much pain she had been in for all these years. She did not expect to him understand but at the moment, she was doing everything a sad girl does except the crying.
"I don't want to go out with you. I didn't even want to be having breakfast here but you're injured and I'm helping you with that. I can't be too far away in case something goes wrong." She shook her head. There was no reason to be telling him this but if he persisted with the invitations, she would be too hard pressed to keep him here any longer. "I refuse men because frankly, I think they are safer that way. I promise you, Vince," the sobriquet rolling off her tongue, "if you get into any form of a relationship with me, you won't survive. I'll hurt you and making up won't be fun. I'll confuse you with my mood swings and honestly, that would be the easy part. I won't treat you like a friend all the time and worse yet for anything more. You keep asking me and you haven't shown yourself to be as bad as the rest - yet."
At this, she laughed but continued, "However, to answer your question in short, yeah we can go out when I close up. I'm giving you a chance." She let out a breath and bowed her head, almost shaking and fighting off whatever tears that might come her way. It had been a ridiculous speech and had nothing to do with if she wanted to hang outside of her business. Unfortunately, the words were out already. Vincent could be laughing his head off now. That much was expected from anyone. Stupid girl. [My head was not right. Poor Naomi. If it's too much for Vincent, overhaul editing is an option. <.<] Jesus is my Lord ♥

Vincent listened, his face blank and accepting. He didn't laugh, cause there was no reason, she was being open and honest and he liked it. Finally she stopped, on the verge of tears. His hand moved up and intertwined with her slowly as he thought and processed and finally he smiled.
"So is that what you tell all the guys you can't resist. Try to scare them away. It isn't gonna work on me. I don't scare easy, most of the time, and I don't quit. If you think you are going to break me, try it and see how hard it is, cause they've been trying for twenty years and here I am." He pulled her down, not to kiss, but so she could rest her head on his shoulder.
"Its okay to cry now. I'm not afraid of tears, hell I've been known to cry from time to time." He chuckled at his cheesy movie line, but it was true.
"I have my faults, you saw one yesterday. I am a brat, obnoxious and snarky. I don't give up when I should and I don't take no for an answer. I don't believe in a 'No Win' situation." He was stroking her hair softly now. His hand lighter than air.
"So there you go. You are gonna give me a chance, and I'm gonna take it, use and when I'm done, you'll come back for more. That is if you can handle more." He chuckled softly. He weight was good against his wound, the pressure easing some of the pain. Her warmth was making him drowsy.
