Wait. Teagan stared at him for a second, the bag still hanging limply in her hand. He hadn't taken it from her. Very slowly she lowered the bag and brought it into her lap as she remained sitting on the ground. He hadn't given it up, but at the same time, Teagan felt like he was letting her have some kind of control.
Wishful thinking at very best.
"...is it?" she wondered aloud. It obviously wasn't enough to make him stay.

Damian knew what he was trying to get at, but that was an entirely different reason he didn't like her leaving him.
"I can't protect her if I'm not with her," he said, as if he was admitting something terrible. "She'll be so far away. And while I'll jump in the car and drive myself over to her in a heartbeat, I know she'll want freedom and my trust."

"...I honestly think Raquel can take care of herself. She's made it so far in her life without protection, and yes, that was hard for her but not impossible... ...She wont need you there for that..." Though he knew that sounded rather bad, harsh even. "...maybe your the one who needs her. Maybe she's protecting you?" He offered, trying to pick through Damian's thoughts as he projected them.

Nat was dusting himself off though extended a hand for her to stand. "Perhaps..." His smile was horribly rougish but so dashing as he pshed back his hair with his free hand. "Though...I do ask you to please take care of that if you aren't going ot give it to me. I'd rather put it in my bag, but-" He furrowed his brow. It wasnt that he wanted a puff.
"That stuff isn't cheap you know? It lasts awhile though if your careful." He explained though had a second reason for wanting it back. He didn't want Teagan to be caught with it in her house or possesion. It was his problem and didn't want her paying for it with her reputation.

Teagan looked at him hard. He spoke like he still liked her, but they couldn't be together. If Teagan really wanted to protect herself from him, she would take the stash and burn it while he wasn't looking. She would get him so mad that he wouldn't even want to stay with her, but she wouldn't do that. She couldn't, not when he probably thought she was enough of a harpy.
So, Teagan brought his hand out and put the bag back in it, and closed it up with her free one.
"Honestly, Nat, I don't know what to do with you..." she whispered, before releasing her grip from him with a sad smile. "But come on by when you're ready to move in."

Without meeting his eyes, Teagan turned and walked away. It was becoming too painful simply to be by him.

Damian didn't think it was that simple. Richard's words rang within him, though, whether he thought them to be true or not.
"Raquel has saved me from myself, true, but she doesn't protect me from the media or anyone else. I know I'll miss her terribly."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:24 pm

Nat frowned slightly, watching her go. He looked down at the little wrapped parcel in his hand and frowned more. If he had to choose, he'd rather see her hand there. But she was walking away and he knew that was for the best. With a sigh, he went to light up one last time before meeting her at home. He'd need somehting to calm his nerves, and to pass the time, since he wasn't about to go back in there with Raquel and her lover.

Richard seemed to understand, nodding as he crossed his legs slightly, holding his ankle casually. "Maybe 'protect' is the wrong word....I meant something like 'heal'... But I do know she's going to miss you too.... " He patted his arm in an effort to be consoling, but it wasn't Richards strongsuit. "...On another brighter note.... I was looking around, and apparantly, there are some higher end homes on the market around here...well not 'here' but more towards the vinyards..if your interested." He shrugged a little.

"The vineyards, eh?" Damian perked up a bit at that. He loved wine, he loved good housing, and he loved Raquel. All there near his home, just waiting for him, and he for them. "I'll look into that..."

And just as he said that, Lorey brought Raquel back into the kitchen. There was nothing left to see, and Lorey was a bit glad. She wanted a nap.
"Alright, everything's seen. But Richard, I saw Teagan leaving for her house while passing the window. Did anything happen?"
She had been rubbing her eyes and seemed agitated, but Lorey kept that part to herself.

Richard cocked an eyebrow, shrugging slightly. "I'm...not sure...I dont think so..." He furrowed his brow, standing. "I'll figure it out when we get back. Are you ready to head into town? We can drop these two off, then grab just a few groceries before heading back here to rest. Unless you're too tired dear. I can get them myself." He offered, standing.

Raquel meanwhile felt that maybe her and Nat coming face to face again had somehting to do with it. She wasn't sure why, it was just a feeling. Though she kept it to herself, coming up behind Damian in his chair.

"No, let's go! I can take a nap when I get back." Lorey smiled and held out her hand for Richard to take. Going shopping together would be an interesting thing. Maybe not for food, but she knew they worked well together and would sort out the markets of Druis together as well.

Damian got to his feet rather stiffly. Getting in that speeder and getting to a hotel room would be a blessing. He truly needed the rest.
"Then we shall."

---

A month had gone by, filled with planning and anxious meticulous attention to every detail of the house. The wedding would be beautiful, with Teagan handling flowers, Richard's mother and anyone free handling food, and Richard and Lorey taking care of nearly everything else. This was their day, and it had finally come.

Lorey was upstairs in her room, with her hair all done, and standing in front of her mirror in her dress. Everything downstairs was ready, but she was so jittery that her curls were shaking.
"Raquel," she said to her friend who would walk down before her. "Oh my gosh, Raquel. This is it. I'm getting married. I'll faint down the aisle..."

Her dress fit her beautifully, and she looked stunning with her hair half on top of her head with curls spilling down to her shoulders. She even felt stunning, but so, so nervous.

Raquel was already in her own dress, putting on a pair of simple blue earings as she looked over Lorey, smiling as she shook her head. "Lorey dear, you will be just fine." She came up behind her shaking friend, placing her hands on her shoulders. "You're so...beautiful..." She choked up a little, just smiling at her. "Though...I put my money on Richard fainting first..." She laughed outright, despite her watering eyes.

Meanwhile, Richard was pacing in the backyard, a total mess despite looking very dashing in his tuxedo. "Good God.... I cant beleive I'm doing this again..." He muttered as he furrowed his brow. "WHat I wouldn't give to just have one last ciggarette right now... I'm going mad." He rubbed the bridge of his nose as he looked up to Damian. "Do you think she'll be happy? I mean, I know she is now, but ...I mean-" He started pacing again. "...I've gone mad...utterly mad Dmaian." He repeated that a few times, starting to fidget a bit more.

Lorey looked back at Raquel and smiled. All that was left were the flowers.

...which came to her with a slight slam of the door being opened a bit too fast against the door jam.
"I'm here!!" Teagan said as she anxiously came inside the room with a rather large box balancing two on top.
"Alright, Lorey-- you look beautiful by the way-- your bouquet is right here." Out of the box came a gorgeous, fresh bouquet, bright with color, and overflowing with flowers. It was very well-crafted, as Teagan did her best with these things.

Next she pulled out a smaller version of Lorey's bouquet for Raquel.
"I gave the men what they needed. They match you, Lorey. Things start soon, I guess, so better get yourself all pulled together."
Everyone was already seated outside, and all that was needed was for a signal to be given and for Raquel to go out first.

Meanwhile, Damian rolled his eyes. The angst was understandable, but he was the one walking down the aisle with the bride.
"Listen, you just stand up there and look pretty. I'll go fetch the bride, and everything can begin so you can start calming down."
And without any more words, Damian left the pacing Richard to go upstairs and see how Lorey looked.

Richard nodded, heading to the front of the set up, mentally trying to prepare himself.

Meanwhile, Raquel nodded, escorting Teagan out so things could begin. But as she opened the door, she practically ran into Damian, who looked very natural in his own tux. Even his cane matched well. "Well dont you look sharp." Raquel smiled, looking him over, though glanced over her shoulder at Lorey. "I'll see you in a few..." She whispered, giving him one last smile before heading downstairs.

Damian went in the room and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Lorey. To think, if he hadn't thrown her out that one day, maybe, just maybe, by some incredible stretch of fate, this would be his bride.
It was just a silly thought, though, as his bride was walking below them downstairs and made him ecstatic with pride in her own dress.

"Well, you gorgeous thing, are you ready?" Damian extended his arm to her as she lowered her veil. It was finally time to get their lives started as a real, acknowledged couple.

Lorey took up her bouquet, and took Damian's arm. She was still shaking considerably, but all that would pass once she was in her element.
"Yes... let's go and get me my husband. I've been waiting long enough up here." Lorey laughed away some of her jitters, and out the door they went.

The cue was given, everyone settled in, and Raquel was signaled to walk out first. Meanwhile, Lorey and Damian held back until she reached the front.
"Stop your shaking," he teased. "It's marriage. Not an intricate ceremony at all..."

That really didn't help Lorey, though. to her, it was being bound forever to a man she loved more than anything. Why couldn't they just put the rings on both their fingers and have a little make out in front of everyone, then go home? So much simpler than this horrible waiting and taking measured steps for a ceremony.

Raquel took her place at the front of the isle, standing off to the side, though did manage to nudge Richard. He was fidling with the flower on his lapel nervously, though the touch and wink Raquel gave him made him stop. "You'll be fine..." She whispered before walking past him.
Enty had his place next to Richard, looking silly but absolutely adorable in a little enty-sized tuxedo.

Though despite all the perfect Details around them, Richard didn't pay a bit of attention to any of them in his nervous state until a white ruffle caught his eyes. His shaking hands were imediately steadied, and jumpy eyes softened as they met Lorey's deep blue.

She was absolutely...stunning.
Richard found he wasn't breathing for a good few moments, taken aback by her beauty. He smiled to himself, hands gripping each other tightly as he watched her make her way down the isle towards him. And with each step he could see another year in their perfect lives together that would go by.

He saw their past too. The first time they had met, to when they danced under the stars. Up to their unpleasentries in the hotel room, and again on Altru. But it all worked out in the end. Today was proof of that.

When she finally made it up to him, he nodded to Damian, shaking his hand as he offered Lorey his arm. Though looking at her so close, he fought back tears. "Hi..." He mouthed sweetly as he swallowed and locked eyes with his betrothed.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 27, 2009 5:41 pm

"Hi," she whispered back. Her eyes were shining with the happy tears that had come during her walk down the aisle. It was a moment that had suddenly made her calm and focus on the handsome sight at the end waiting for her. He'd had his hair cut just a bit, but still had it long. She'd made sure he kept it long just the way she liked it, and in return, she kept her bangs trimmed and hair just a little longer than her old cut. They both were stunning.

The service began, and rings were exchanged along with vows that they would love and live together forever, no matter what they went through. Lorey smiled so much her cheeks hurt, and by the end of it, she was sure she couldn't feel her face.

Damian looked on with a light, but serious expression on his face. This was what he and Raquel would be going through soon enough. After her schooling, after everything, they would get married. It was right in his mind...

Teagan was crying softly in the small audience. It was the only time she would cry in front of anyone, when it was for a happy occasion. But oh, how she envied Lorey and how she couldn't be happier for her. Plus, those flowers looked gorgeous with her dress.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may now kiss the bride."
Lorey looked up to Richard, her new husband, with all the love and excitement she had within her.

Raquel was fighting tears the whole time as well, stealing small glances to Damian here and there, though mostly maintained her cool.

Nat thought stayed dry eyed, THough found himself patting Teagans hand or arm here and there to console her, while at the same time, tried not to look at Raquel who was stunning as well, though not as much as Lorey. Richard you lucky b*****d... He smirked to himself as he watched on with a small nod.

Richards mother was in the audience as well, crying a great deal, dabbing her eyes with her hankerchief as she barely kept herself together at all.

Richard never took his eyes off Lorey's just barely being able to speak as it came his turn for the "I do"s...
When the big moment came, Richard smiled brightly, though there were tears in his eyes as he lifted her veil, touching her cheek softly, before pulling her in for a deep, passionate but so so sweet of a kiss. When he broke, he whispered in her ear "We're married Mrs. Mentaro..." as he hugged her.
