I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but... - Said Rey, a smirk on his face - ...as an Earth Dragon Hybrid, I have a very powerful affinity with the earth. But the earth is composed of many things, rocks, minerals, ore... - He continued, attaching himself to the Earth, looking, heavier. -
...all these things emit some sort of magnetic force or another, and by arranging those metals and minerals, I have control over my personal "magnetism", and can make it repel me or attract me as strongly as I like. Why do you think an earthie like me can be comfortable with low-altitude aerial combat? I just arrange the force between the earth and my own. Look.
And as he said that, he showed Lili a bunch of metallic rocks jutting out behind him. - Right now, I can make it so you can't even blow upwards on my coat, if I wanted to, or.... - He interrupted himself for a moment - ...I can also slightly affect the magnetic forces in others... - He said, making Lili feel slightly heavier - ...so nyah! - He yelled and stuck his tongue out at her, as he sped off.

Lili smirked. She could see that this was going to become a full-out power display pretty soon.
"Well then, we'll just see whether your control over gravity..." she flicked her ears, "or my control over its lack wins!"
With that, she once again lowered her density, making Rey light enough to float as well.

Rey just felt lighter and lighter, and decided to use this to his advantage. - Earth Spear! - He yelled, making stalagmites come up in front of him in various heights. He started using each to jump towards the other, using them as platforms and walls to change dircetion, all the while making himself heavier.
I'll just move forward while keeping my body as low to the ground as I possibly can. This is fun! - He thought, a big grin in his face as a result of the randomness taken by the race.

Well, if that's the way you want to play..., she thought.
Whirlwind!She shouted, and the air began blowing around randomly. But it was too difficult for her to keep up the whirlwinds and try to lighten Vyce, with his counter-efforts. She flicked her ears again, and pulled out an old trick she had found when she was younger.
Sound attack! And with that, she focused the air into directed sound waves that struck Rey's stalagmites.

Whirlwinds and sound attacks? She's getting serious. - Rey smiled. He felt the vibrations everytime he step on the now crumbling stalagmites. - Maybe... If I can match the vibrations, they won't crumble so quickly. - He thought. Since he could feel her attack's vibrations, it would be easy to make his own and compare them until they matched. - Earth Spear! - He yelled, making more stepping stones for himself. - Earthquake! - He kept working at it, until the stalagmites lasted slightly longer before crumbling. It was much harder than he thought.
I guess all I can do now is move faster...but maybe I can slow her down a little... - He grinned. This was a spell that was normally painful for aerial opponents, but he would power it down for this situation, as to stun her for a moment. - Gravity Well! - He yelled, pointing at the ground and obstacles nearest to her. The formations grew denser, so much so that they actually pulled them both towards them, propelling them forward, but at the same time, towards the ground. - It worked! - He thought, celebrating.

Damnit! Lili cursed in her head. This was getting difficult. Well, then, that leaves one other option, that I'm still willing to do. She stopped all of her other attacks and floated in the air, clasping her hands together. This would prove to be the ultimate test of wills.
She opened her mouth, once again releasing sound waves as a wind spell.
Kaze!Direct thyself away from all the world.Let nothing free from your power.Lift that world until it is under your control alone.Let nothing free from your power.Wind, wind, sacred wind....
She continued chanting, as the wind ripped pieces of the earth up and everything flew upwards in a violent stream. Her eyes flicked open.
So, can you keep the earth within your grasp, Rey?, she telepathized. But then, in the background of her mind, something else echoed. This is bad.... And she knew it was. She couldn't control her thoughts anymore. If this kept going, it would result in Antiventus, the spell that removed air. She could kill everything around her with this. But she couldn't stop. what was going on? She was screaming in her mind. This wasn't her spell anymore. Someone else was using her to cast it.
Her mind wandered to Rey, talking about his mother who wanted to kill him. No, she thought, it can't be her....
Her thoughts were so unstable, though, that she knew everyone close enough could probably hear them.

Rey immediately felt the spells taking effect, and when he heard Lili, he managed to think to himself, "Well, of course I can!" After all, to him, this was just like the time he had been sucked up by a tornado, it all relied on controlling the dust around him that the wind inevitably sweeps up.
But, he then realized something had gone wrong, as he heard her stray thoughts. After those, he immediately recieved a message from a familiar voice, one he thought he'd never hear again. His father...
Rey...this is a test. A test from your mother, and I am using all my power to communicate from the prison she has built for us.
Father?! I thought you were dead! - Tears of joy streamed down his cheeks, as the voice of the most important person in his life communicated with him, letting him know that not all hope was lost.
No, my child, only imprisoned, though I know not where. Your mother, on the other hand, knows of both our whereabouts. It is time to prove to her that you are not powerless. - He said, the tone of voice turning more serious, more like a teacher or mentor than a father.
Use the spell of gravity, child, only this time, use it on yourself. Rely on the power of the Great Mother, and the Great Father will assist you as well. Use it to the full extent of your powers, even through the pain this might cause.
Fear was seen on his face, as air was running thin in this turbulence. He prepared to cast, attracting all nearby samples of his element.
Mother Earth, envelop me in your grasp with violence and hurry, attract me mortally to your embrace. Use all your might to imprison me in your mighty fist, for none can escape your power! Pull me to the ground, the mightiest of prisons! Gravity Well!
And as he cast this powerful spell, he felt himself fall at an incredible speed towards the ground, which grew closer by the second. As this all happened, he instinctively protected himself using his wings as a shield, knowing they would not be enough to stop the effects of casting his own spell against him.
At least... - He thought - My father is alive, and I can escape this.But what about Lili? And how long will my father remain alive?

Lili shimmered between her own existance and some other, unknown one.
So you hide away again do you?, said the voice, speaking to Rey.
No matter. I only needed one hybrid anyways. Lili became herself again as the wind settled down and fingers grasped her chin, with the nails of a mysterious elfess digging into her skin. She found, to her horror, that she still couldn't move.
So your father spoke with you. But, will you have the strength to protect yourself, still? Or will you simply let me take this one...Lili, is her name? The woman laughed.
Well, find her, if you can. With that, Lili's eyes flickered shut, and the elf disappeared.

Rey, while still falling due to his spell, paid attention to his messenger. His panic and fear turned to anger, as he plumeted and crashed against the ground in an impressive explosion. In spite of immediately wanting to get to Lili, the fall had knocked him out cold for a few minutes. A turbulence of thoughts, voices and events rushed through his subconcsious.

When Rey woke up, Lili was nowhere to be found. Gone without a trace, the girl was nowhere near Rey at the moment. He knew what had happened, but to find her, he'd need help. With this thought, he headed back to camp, a deep sadness engraved in his face and his heavy heart.

((*sighs* The whole subforum is slightly dead.))
It was cold, damp and dark against her bare skin when Lili woke up. She pulled her legs closer to her before sitting up, and put her hands against the cold, dark walls to try to see. Maybe I can blow myself up to there, she thought. But when she focused, the wind didn't even stir at her will.
Confused, little hybrid? the voice said. Lili didn't like it. She pulled up her hands to cover her ears.
Then she noticed something odd. Her ears were too small to pass as elf ears. They were like the ears of...
"Humans," she said. She had somehow been transformed into a human.

Meanwhile, Duna had finally woken up and went to catch fish. He sat at the edge of a stream cleaning himself in a very cute (and refined, he thought) way.
Suddenly he felt something brush his whiskers and turned abruptly. He didn't see anything, however, the fur on his neck started to p***k up and his eyes narrowed to slits.
"You do not need to hide," he said, his voice filling the area.
Suddenly, a pair of green eyes opened before him in the empty air. This was followed by a light green face and body, slowly materialising in front of him. Whatever kind of creature it was appeared feminine, but there were no details in the crotch area, nor were there nipples, although what could have been small breasts formed pertly in the right place as he stepped back and lowered his head to defend himself.
"Please do not be afraid", the vision said, "I am Arfalgne, the spirit of the Lesser Birch. I was awakened, so some kind of dire situation must have occured, as tree spirits sleep soundly, especially around mortals. However, I cannot technically go far from my home (she pointed to the large tree over accross the stream), so when I saw you, I knew that I needed to investigate."
"I am truly sorry" Duna replied, settling back down, "But the Shadowlinge have reawakened, and they chose this forest to mount their first attack. Luckily, we were able to fight and drive them back, but it may become an all-out war if we don't do something soon."
Arfalgne looked deeply sad, as only Ancient spirits can.
"I will need to tell the others," she sighed.
"I know, I'm tired of playing the hero, too," Duna sighed as well, "I just want a warm bed, a scritch behind the ears, some sexy babes (he winked), and fresh fish with a milk saucer. Is that too much to ask?"
"What is milk?" Arfalgne looked puzzled, "Is that some sort of plant?"
Duna smirked, "It's not important. Do you think that the other spirits of this forest might be able to lend their spirit power to help bind the Shadowlinge once again? I know that your spiritual power is similar to that of the Shadowlinge (Arfalgne looked vaguely insulted), except natural and in occurdance to the harmony of all living things."
Arfalgne smiled and gently said, "I will do what I can. Please return here when the sun is fully behind my branches, and I will let you know what we will do to help."
"You have my thanks," Duna bowed in respect, as Arfalgne, while young-looking, was obviously far older and more ancient than himself.
She disappeared with a lilting laugh that seemed to meld into the sound of the rustling leaves in the trees.
"Damn, but I'm starved", Duna said, and snagged his first fish, which had been bored by the long conversation and was not paying attention.

Lili shivered and curled herself. She wondered when that simple competition had turned so bitter in her mind, but she just couldn't find it. And now, she was here, powerless. What was she to do?
She focused her thoughts to try to telekinesize privately, to anyone.
