She stopped as the bug zipped behind a crack, pouted, and turned back to Iri.

"I'd think it was funny... Then I'd kill him, if I could.

She tugged on her bottom lip and furrowed her brow, in serious thought.

(( *drops, rolls, laughs* I didn't mean you, as in RL you. Seriously. I meant Dalcon. I'm just not used to referring to you as "Dalcon". So I said "Short Man" in reference to a short child. I'm not much taller than you, so can I really say that in reference to you and not get burned back? sweatdrop ))

Iri turns to Syn first. That seems like the more pressing issue. "There shall be no blood shed between the two of you! Wait, let me rephrase that. The two of you shall not damage each other in any way possible. Besides, Syn, you kinda have an unfair advantage."

Then Iri turns back to Dalcon. "Well, if you haven't got a home planned out, then I'd suggest picking out an element and training in it. At the very least, it's something to keep you occupied and you'll get some useful skills out of it. Kaze, Rai, Tsuchi, Ho, and Mizu are your options. Tutsumi started a Taijutsu Dojo, too, but I'm not sure if one can study in that alone."

Syn shook her head with a smile.

"He can't hurt me, and Jii-Sama won't let me kill anyone. So you don't have to worry, Big Sis."

She snickered and looked around for something else to do.

"So I get to sift through that pack of idiots and try to learn something? No thanks," he says, waving a dismissive hand. "I think I'd be better served sticking wi' you..." He peers around Iri, looking at Syn. "Even if it means aggravating company."

Iri points at Dalcon and gives him a stern look. "Hey now! I've been trying to get her to behave. If you don't want lip from her, then don't give it. Besides, you don't want to know what she's capable of."

She turns to look at Syn. Her words are very reassuring. Reassuring to the point that Iri questions her sanity in being as comfortable around the girl as she is. Maybe it's her ability to adapt? Or is she just resigned? Oh well.

"Syn, remind me to thank Neko for that sometime. Because, honestly, I don't want to know how you would kill someone. That's just plain scary. Not even interesting. Just scary."

Violet eyes settle back on Dalcon. "So, do I have another student?"

"I guess so," Dalcon says with a nod. He scratches at his glowing scar somewhat nervously. "Where is Neko, anyway?"

"I'll tell him."

Syn sighed as she didn't find anything more interesting than the conversation at hand, and turned around to head out of the dojo.

"Er, well..." Iri looks to Syn for a moment. She's trying to figure out how to phrase this, seeing as she wasn't there and doesn't have all of the details.

When Syn speaks, Iri motions for Dalcon to follow her. Then she follows after the girl herself. As they walk, Iri gives Dalcon her brief version of the story.

"Neko doesn't live here anymore. Kaimen pulled what you might call a hostile take over. He fought Neko and apparently won, so Neko left. I wasn't there, so I don't know all of the circumstances of the fight. After that, Kaimen rebuilt the Academy and switched around the staff. A few of the Dojos were abolished. A lot of changes have been made. Some of it has been for the better, but I'm not saying it's all good. It's too soon to tell."

"Of course it's not all good," Dalcon sighs. "I can see that already. I need to find Nekojiri- this thing is killing me," he says, holding up his wrist. One of the few things Aven had told him was never to take off the bracelet there, and there it sits, pulsing slightly.

Syn didn't mind them following, but it was a long hike, longer than Iri had gone last time. It was over an hours walk to a small clearing where Neko was standing, apparently waiting for them.

"Jii-Sama!"

Syn ran over to Neko and hugged his leg before turning to face the two tag-alongs.

Neko didn't bother to hide behind illusions this time, and he didn;t seem as receptive. He was actively on his guard, watching Iri closely, glancing down at Dalcon. Though there was a tension in the air, Neko seemed to be kind enough when he spoke.

"Is there something I can help with, Iri?

The avian follows the girl. So far, she hasn't brought Iri any physical harm. Why distrust her now. And so, she trudges along behind her. An hour later, and she's looking at the person Dalcon's looking for.

Iri immediately pulls out her kunai and holds the weapon up. Then she places it in the back of her sarong skirt. "It's all I have on me. And there's no mission this time. I'm just with the kids."

She looks down at Dalcon and shrugs. It's the kid's choice. Iri's just here to supervise.

Dalcon leaves his only weapon strapped to his back, knowing full well that taking on Neko would be suicide, anyway. He holds up his wrist again. "You know about these, right?"

Neko smiles at Iri, holding his hands open, palms facing them to show that he was unarmed, save the shortsword sheathed on his pauldron. He looked down at Dalcon and raised an eyebrow, not moving any closer.

"So, you're their boy. Who gave you that?"

He narrows his eyes slightly at being called 'their boy'. However, her chooses not to comment on this, a mark of respect for Neko. After all, the last time he bothered Nekojiri, he'd left Dalcon with a sword with dimensions that mirror those of a chimney.
"Don't rightly recall," he says. "Mom told me not to take it off, and I haven't, but...well, sir, it hurts," he says, scratching the back of his head nervously.

Iri nods in response to Neko. At the same time, she makes a point of keeping her guard up. A lack of weapons doesn't mean bull crap with this one. She has a scar to prove it. And that wasn't even the result of a fight.

One hand comes up to about level with Iri's sternum. A ball of air forms. This isn't an air bomb. It's just a small cyclone she's formed into a sphere. Once it's stable, Iri begins to juggle it from hand to hand. It's moments like these one might accuse Iri of having a short attention span.
