Ami quickly took out a flash bomb and threw it in front of her. The flash of light eliminated the shadows. Once the light was gone, she was ready for anything else Fatal would do.

Ami watched Fatal carefully. Ugh... Magic users are always the most annoying... she thought to herself. She had to be extremely cautious with this opponent. There was most likely a trap.

((This puts Fatal at a disadvantage, that he has to fight himself instead of rely on dead creatures. If he wins, it will be a battle hard-fought and well-earned. If he loses....))

"You have a nasty habit of disappearing, don't you?" Fatal asked curtly, standing directly behind Ami. The giant shuriken suddenly was surrounded by an explosion of smoke. There had been a trap... disguised as an attack.

When the smoke cleared, the shuriken was half-embedded in the floor, be it stone, metal, or concrete. It would take a massive amount of strength to pull the giant shuriken free, but--at least it was the weapon rather than the person who tossed it.

Fatal sent a simple blast of dark energy in Ami's direction, and he was standing so close, relatively speaking....

((As in, just out of arm's reach.))

((Oddly enough, I knew what senbon were. A couple years ago I watched the first two or three seasons of Naruto. But, alas, I stopped.))

Fatal combined wind and darkness to cause a pulse of powerful wind to throw the senbon off-track. But senbon were very aerodynamic, and so this did not work quite as Fatal had planned. They probably did not go straight to his heart or vital organs, like they were probably aimed, but Fatal would not be able to dodge since he countered instead.

((Confirm that this is what would happen if he countered with wind?))

The senbon barreled into Fatal. He staggered somewhat, arms and legs mostly having been hit, and caused a powerful, omni-directional pulse of dark energy to blast in all directions. This was powerful, but would wear off quickly, and so had a small range.

Fatal did half-turn and begin to summon a fierce blaze, though it would be about a millisecond before he finished this.

Halcyon had been enthralled in the fight this whole time. When the dark pulse of energy prevented her from seeing Ami, she nearly shrieked in anger. "Nick," she demanded, "you have to stop this. C'mon, use your magic. Save Ami!"

Nick was hesitant. He raised a flute to his lips, but didn't play quite yet. Only a fraction of a second of hesitation....

Ami was hit by the blast just as she unleashed her barrage of shuriken. The shuriken cut through the dark energy, making their way to Fatal.

"Nick!" screamed Halcyon, who was out of her mind (and completely not noticing the two who were the only other ones sharing their section of grandstand). It had appeared, from their angle, as if Ami had just been blasted off her feet (which she was) but also, much more powerfully and dangerously than was actually the case.

Unable to refuse his companion in such a state, and although he knew this was a bad idea (like most of Halcyon's), Nick blew on the flute. Fatal suddenly found his body unable to move. Shuriken cut right through him, but something worse was happening to Ami.

Fatal's laughing came from his immobile and bleeding body, as Ami suddenly found herself trophifying.

Having won, Fatal used a trophy... the one of the Phoenix, which restored his body and healed his wounds instantly. Then, grinning, he walked up to Ami's slowly trophifying body. Leaning forward, smugly, he said, "You were winning. Unfortunately, that 'friend' up there couldn't let you fight your own battles. As par to our agreement of the challenge, you lose everything."

And then Ami trophyfied.

Fatal turned to the remaining grandstand, bowed, took a hold of the trophy, and vanished in a cloud of smoke.
