Pen shook her head. "As nice as that plan sounds, Eric, it wouldn't work. When the Kore designed the virus they were making a controllable weapon. It can be transferred from one person to a next, but with each it lessens in intensity and changes to something more akin to a flu. It isn't nearly as infective or deadly if obtained from anyone other than the host. It was mean to be that way, otherwise it could kill off whole planets."
Pen smiled, a dark smile. "The good thing about the main ship, is the ventilation system hasn't been updated in a very very long time. For the most part, even if I am in a prison cell, they will all be breathing the same air I am. It's very possible to wipe out the whole ship in less than a week."
"I will contact you when I can, and you can pick me up, and probably even the stone at the same time."

"You going out an airlock isn't quite what I'd call an acceptable loss or sacrifice. Not sure why you have yourself with such a death wish, Pen, but talk to me, doll. Let me in, let me help you." He cast a sad look over his shoulder, reaching behind him to squeeze her hand.

Pen gave him a half smile. "I don't have a death wish, Eric. Do you really think I'd let them drag me out to the airlock without a tooth and nail fight?" She gave his hand a squeeze back, "But I'm not going to lie to myself and say there isn't a very large risk here when there is. Besides, Eric, if there is a serum to neutralize a host, without killing them, it's going to be on that damn ship. Don't think I've not been planning to get there and look for it."

Piper listened intently, taking everything in.
Hattie sighed as Halise left quietly. She stood up and made for the ship's exit. She felt as if she needed air... Or to run or hit something. Most likely, she would take a wrench to the 'Reet's engines to dull her frustrations. She silently hoped the Magellan was busy with other things and wouldn't notice her go.

"It seems the girl has an illness, not a batch of coconuts." Piper interrupted in her high pitched tone. "And I believe your wife is the one to tell this young lady's... Boyfriend that she will be deceased if this event occurs." She coughed softly. "I think her mind is made up and I don't think you rubbing it in her face will help her to change her mind."

Eric looked to Piper, raising an eyebrow.
"Did I invite you?"
He turned back to Pendari, and squeezed her hand, "You honestly think this is the first time that Jarred or I have had to watch someone we cared for go out on a limb like this? We've had to break each other shitty news." He sighed, running a hand through his hair, "I can work miracles, bend the laws of reason, when I need to. You and I can take out this ship without you dying, Pen. I know it."

"I think you just hate the fact that I'm right." Something beeped in her pocket and she pulled out a small, personal computer and read the message there. A smirk moved across her face. "It seems your warning to a certain young captain have gone unheeded. Absinthe in forms me that she has left your ship. Is she one for walks?" She found that pushing Eric's buttons was pretty amusing.

Eric turned, his face stone set.
"Piper, one more word out of you, and I'm going to redecorate the inside of this ship with the back of your stupid little head, got it." He punched the throttle on the Dialanche, whipping the ship in a tight turn, blazing back towards the Star's Light.
