Raelise nodded, her expression faintly impressed, and began looking out for such a spot in the caves as they moved. IF this thing was like a spider, and all the evidence pointed that way, Hope's plan seemed sound.

Zywynran nodded as he was named bait. It made sense; he was quick and nimble as both were skills of his trade. If Hope was convinced she could keep up, he would take her word for it. "How will we locate the creature without alerting it to our presence before we intend?"

As they continued on, Hope closed her lantern again, laid her hand on the child's shoulder, and spoke softly to Zywynran, "I will be praying we do not. What else can we do? If Raelise cannot find a place that is very close to this thing you may need to be the bait alone and lead it to me. I do not wish to do that to you, but while I'm confident to keep ahead of the thing for a short sprint, if we have to go any farther you might be left alone in front of it."

Zywynran nodded, nonplussed by the idea that he may have to lead the creature alone. "I have no problem with that, Hope. We will all do what we must to increase the chances of us all surviving." He smiled, bot to reassure Hope that the possibility did not trouble him and also simply because the prospect excited him. Oh, it was very dangerous to be certain, but it sounded like it was ever so much fun. Well, once the mind boggling terror had passed, it was likely to seem fun. Perhaps that is why, father? Of course, they would be no answer to his mental query.

Raelise noticed a narrow off shoot of the current tunnel, one that seemed to end in a solid wall. A giant spider would definitely have a hard time getting through such a space. "Hope," she said quietly, pointing. "Will that do?"
