"I could do it." Kikyo's voice cut through the conversation like a new knife. "And I'm gonna. Those androids are gonna pay for wreaking all my hard work." She had an evil glint in her eye. "Or my name isn't Kikyo." She landed her robot and got out of it.

"I have an itch on my back. Could somebody get it? It's bugging the crap outta me." He started reaching around, trying to get to it. It felt like something was growing on the back of his shoulders.

Kikyo sighed and started pulling scrap metal from anywhere she could get it. She walked over to her welder and put the mask over her face. She clicked a button, and fire appeared before her face. Kikyo began welding pieces of the metal together. They'll pay. She thought angrily.

"Set 'em on fire." Kikyo replied, still welding. Either she had no ability to sense hot and cold or she was just too mad to care right now.

"Let her do what she will, as long as it doesn't kill me." Xaes started raking his back against a doorway until he heard a slight rip. "The good news is that the itching stopped." He could feel something new under his shirt. It seemed strange, maybe a bit foreign at first, then it hit him. A smile appeared upon his face. "My wings!" He did a little victory dance before composing himself enough to keep fairly still. "Do you require any help, kikyo?"

"Yah." Kikyo said. "Go get more sheets of metal." She hadn't looked up from her welding, and was mumbling equations, problems, and schematics to herself, making sure she did this right.

Xaes examined some damaged wall panels and started to sort through them, dragging them back to Kikyo's work area. He accumulated a stack about four feet tall and stopped to examine her. "Anything else?" He grinned, losing himself in the flame of the welder.
He longed for his younger days of fighting the others in the flaming circle. He could almost feel the heat on his arms as he remembered holding someone's head in the flames, loving every second as they drowned in the inferno.

Kikyo half glanced at the metal. "Yah." She replied, going back to work. "An easier life." She was using a joking tone, but anyone who knew her semi-decently knew she was speaking the truth. She hated the war.

Drayk grinned a bit. "Something tells me that the title 'soccer mom' isn't exactly what you had in mind, but if it came down to it, would you take it?" He'd known where his place was for a long time; more than half of his life had spent killing. It was his role, his part, his destiny. He wouldn't trade it for the world.

"No, I wouldn't." Kikyo replied, not looking up. "But I don't like this war either. I just want it over." she was mostly talking to herself, but didn't care who heard.

"I'm sorry for saying this, but there will always be conflict unless only a solitary being exists. There will be conflict because no two things are exactly alike. With that unlikeness comes contempt. With contempt comes unease. Unease escalates to the point of unfounded anger, which incites war. What you ask for is impossible. I have come to terms with such a realization and, thereby, have found joy in the inevitable. I hope you find your place someday, just as I found mine. Until then, find a reason to live and live well."
He spun on his heel and began to walk away, but stopped. "Lady Kikyo, would you care for a snack or something to drink? It would help to lessen the overall time it would take to complete your work. As the elder prophets say, a tired vessel is a weak one." He stood, intently listening for her voice.

"No thank you." Kikyo replied. "And I know the war situations. And even if only one being would exist, fighting would continue still. I just don't want this war to continue."
