Lucinda cringed a little more behind him. Even she was a little frightened by that, and she knew he wouldn't hurt her.

The goblins shifted backwards at the roar, but then a few jumped at Renatus, who deflected the blows with his saber. "Lucinda! Run!" he yelled back to her, deflecting another blow.

Lucinda backed away, but wanted to make sure Renatus was going to run with her. She refused to leave him!

Renatus kicked a goblin, and heard his armor rattle under the blow. He tried to back up, but the onslaught continued. Renatus took another deep breath, and loosed a blue flame unto the crowd, who retreated under the heat. Renatus backed up a few paces, then turned and began to run.

Soon the two of them came to a large cavern. "I don't remember this." Renatus said looking around at the walls. The floor dropped away, and they were upon a thin pass over the rock below them. "We took a wrong turn!"

"Well, how do we get back?" Lucinda asked, forcing herself to stay clam.

"Come on! Just keep going!" Renatus said pulling Lucinda, as the goblins came upon the bridge and overflowed off of it.

As they crossed the chasm, a tunnel turned off the path ahead. "There! Hide." Renatus said to Lucinda. He snatched the torch from her and tossed it below into the chasm. He pulled her into the small tunnel and pressed against the wall.

Lucinda tried to make herself as small as possible. She held her breath to stay quiet.

Renatus grabbed Lucinda's hand and held it tightly as the horde of goblins stampeded past them, fumbling in the sudden darkness.

As the foot steps softened, and the remaining goblins hurried along behind to catch up, Renatus let out a breath of relief.
