Zalexis nodded and pulled the knives out of the ground. "I'll take care of them." Janie tugged at one to try to help Zalexis but Zalexis grabbed her arm and said, "It's too dangerous. Just watch me, okay?" Janie nodded and stood by and Zalexis inspected the daggers. "They seem to be better in quality than those I've seen in a long time. I take it that they shield magic, but cannot be harmed by it?"

Rayne smiled as she turned toward Zalexis. "You have a sharp eye. I made sure they could safely deflect a magic blast attack and cut through magical objects. They only thing I'd be afraid of while using those is losing them. They don't chip, crack or scratch easily, and even if the do, I can repair them easily enough." Rayne poked her scythe. "I was taught well. It takes time to be able to tell the difference between a normal blade and a magic blade, I take it you've had enough training to understand some weaponry." She looked at Janie and smiled kindly. "Your uncle's right. Dagger's aren't safe to toy with. They can be dangerous if estimated incorrectly." Her smile fell a bit as she thought of something. "I suppose..." She pulled a thin, four inch blade out of her shirt and held it out for Janie. "This is a special blade. I love it more than the ones your uncle is holding, it's special to me. I want you to have it, but I don't want you to have to use it. I think this one will help you more than a normal weapon." She looked at Zalexis and looked at Ilisia. "Is it alright if I give your niece this blade?" She had an odd look in her eyes, as if she wanted them to accept as well. She turned back to Janie and smiled. "You're a smart girl, I'm sure you know to not use a knife." She stood up and poked her scythe. "Eh. I need to get this sharpened again..." She cut her finger and frowned at the tiny slice. "Spoke too soon..." She put her finger in her mouth and scowled. "Gross..."

(Um guys I wont be around for a while. I'm going on vacation for a bit.) Toraka checked her own weapons and stood up slowly looking at Joirden weirdly. "Where did you get that necklace?" He looked down "Oh this I've had it for a while."

((Okay. Have fun.)) Ilisia looked nervously at the blade, then at Zalexis. Zalexis saw her face and said, "Oh, she'll be fine. I know you didn't start blade-work until you were ten, but I started when I was Janie's age or younger." Ilisia turned to Rayne and smiled nervously. "I suppose it's never too early to really learn how to wield a blade. Can I just... coat it so that it can't cut Janie? I just need a tiny piece of her hair and my magic so that it recognizes Janie and can't do her damage..." Ilisia knew that her plan to coat the blade would be risky since it was hard to remove such a coating, but she really wanted to protect Janie. "The only downside is that... your blade will likely never be the same again."

Rayne gave Ilisia an odd look. "She's fine, the blade doesn't need that protection." She didn't explain that by handing it to Janie and saying what she did set her own spell over the blade. The blade couldn't hurt Janie because she was now the owner. "Anyway, I'm hoping she never has to use it, ever." She looked her scythe over and frowned slightly at the handle. "Loose..." She twisted the blade and the handle, tightening the cinch holding the blade on. "Thought it was handling oddly..."

Ilisia nodded uncertainly and asked, "Is there a sheath for the dagger? As much as I trust her safety, Janie's just a little kid..." Zalexis watched the blade and said, "Illie. Just look. It'll be fine." Ilisia noticed the glimmer of the owner-protection spell on the blade and calmed down. "Actually... Maybe it is time for Janie to begin to learn a bit about weaponry as well as magic..."

Rayne nodded. "Glad you've seen my point." her eyes widened as she looked at her scythe. "No wonder." She eyed the blade and poked a spot. "Chipped." She looked at Ilisia. "Could I borrow your whetting stone? It seems my blade started chipping."

Ilisia handed it to Rayne. "Sure. Go ahead. Just be careful about that flat edge along the side... It tends to slip and make people cut themselves when used to whet." Zalexis took Janie's hand and said to the little girl, "I'll teach you how to use that dagger. The important thing to remember to never let the blade point towards you."

Rayne expertly sharpened her weapon, avoiding the flat side that Ilisia had mentioned. She inspected the blade and smiled slightly. "Thanks." She gave the stone back to Ilisia and atched as Zalexis started teaching her how to handle the blade.

Ilisia took back the whetting stone and put it away. She turned to Janie and Zalexis and said, "Janie, when you hold the handle, don't grip it like that. Clench it. It's much more stable. Also, take care that the blade never points right up at your face." She turned to Rayne and asked, "Since it was your blade originally, do you have any suggestions for Janie?"

Rayne's eyes widened slightly. She tilted her head to the left and smiled, closing her eyes. "Just try not to use it too much. I think you'll be a better spell caster." After saying her cryptic response she stood up and hefted her scythe. "I'm going to take a quick look around. Yell if you need me. If you hear yelling, or screaming, I suggest running." She walked toward the trees and sighed lightly.

Toraka watched everyone go about their preparations and carefully cast a light spell. A fox appeared beside her. "Hide and follow," she commanded as Rayne left. She was sure no one had seen her but she didn't notice the way Joirden was looking at her.

Ilisia nodded at Rayne's words and whispered, "Come on Janie. I'll teach you how to use your magic now." Zalexis sighed and walked a short distance and tried to see if any of his magic would come back. It stayed away. He sighed and sat down to try to regain to physical strength to make up for the magical strength that was obliterated.

Rayne just walked to where she had slightly lost her mind from the overage of blood. She only saw ashes as she looked around. Kneeling to the ground, Rayne wrote a thin rune in the dirt. The rune shimmered slightly as the earth swallowed the ashes and covered itself in ordinary dirt again. Rayne sighed and stood up. "Was it a good idea to give a magic dagger to their kid? It might save our lives, but I still don't want to have to train another kid on how to kill..." She put her hand on a tree and sighed again. "I still can't let go of what happened, but I can't let myself fall here and endanger them..." She slapped herself and took a deep breath. "Begone morbid thoughts! I have to focus now! Gotta try not to freak out their kid with my random as hell actions either... No more attacking innocent trees..." She smiled to herself, oblivious to the fox that spied on her. She walked back to see Ilisia training her daughter, while Zalexis sat off to the side, looking kinda odd. Rayne walked over and pat his shoulder lightly. "Hey, you alright? You look like you wanna puke or freak out." She was exaggerating. "Magic mishap?"

Zalexis looked up and smiled to Rayne. "I guess you could call it that. When you saw me heal Illie, I drained myself of all of my magic. I was meditating to see if there was enough so much as a drop of my magic left that I could use to regrow my magic out of. I found a drop, but it's very weak. It'll take time or strengthening in order to get back."
