"as long as I'm with you, nothing else matters," he sapped in while fastening everything, in his mind agreeing with her. ((kills herself? wtf?))

Teddy's small side of affection was enough to calm me down a little bit. I pulled him closer to me in a one-armed hug. "Yeah, it does worry me," I said. My expression might have calmed, but my tone hadn't. "He's done a job of seducing women before. Sam's naievty might make her more vulnerable." I began to look around the Circus, children dragging their parents to this booth and that booth. The thought that children shouldnt' be out so late barely registered in my mind when I noticed the absence. "Where are those two, anyway?" I asked, more to myself than Teddy.

Sam sighed happily. "Thank you..." She opened the door. "Hey, I see little kids. Freeloaders! That's illegal!" [[No, I'm saying I'm killing myself due to the corn xD I say either that or '/seppuku']]

ThEndOfHeartache927 "He's done a job of seducing women before. Sam's naievty might make her more vulnerable." [[Actually, his rpc said that he's been avoiding women since his run-in with Anita Blake, which I read was 2 years before the very first book. So doesn't that make that a rumor?]] [[EDIT: Not only that, but he doesn't seem like the type capable of seducing many women xD]]

"Where are they? Um..." Oh, that really wasn't going to convince Markus not to worry. "Well, I'm sure there's plenty of work to do running this place." Teddy shrugs. Maybe they really had gone off to dance the horizontal mambo. Was there something in the water here or what? First teddy himself and now the self proclaimed celibate half succubus? Woah, there; no point assuming what you don't know. Teddy reminded himself.

He almost laughed at her ability to switch from love mode to buissness mode, but I guess that's what would make them such a great couple, makeout when they get time, and then back to work. "You go get em' Sam, you are now as powerful as I am in this corporation," he said as he went to entertain any newcomers with his act of odd crazyness.

((Yeah, it's just a rumor. People tend to start believing what they hear if they hear it enough. Just because part of his face is scarred doesn't mean women wouldn't claim to have slept with him. He still have a reputation and money.))
"She was selling tickets," I said, rolling my eyes as I continued to walk absently through the Circus, Teddy glued to my side. "How busy could that make her?" I shrugged. All would be revealed in due time.

Sam took out her badge from her pockets. "Hey, you, kid! I never saw you paying ten dollars!... What do you mean 'How do I know'? I run the ticket booth! Gimme forty dollars, since there's four of you!... Look, I'm a cop, you can trust me!" After the parents had forked over the money, and Sam had put it in her pocket to give to Valentine later, she went over to Markus and Teddy. "Any one you like in particular? Feedback's important, you know!" She was bustling with energy. [[I wonder why...]]

Teddy shrugged and decided he had better stick to not trying to cover for Sam. Or whatever he had hoped to accomplish. When Sam popped up right by them, Teddy couldn't help but utter "Speak of the devil." She sure didn't look like she was ravished by a ravenous vampire. Teddy then rethought that, his mouth full of cotton candy. Well, unless she really enjoyed it. Stop thinking about it already!

I gasped as Sam started yelling at young children and charging them forty dollars not far from where we stood. "Sam!" I cried. "Where did you go? What did you and Valentine do? What... why..." I couldnt' think. I really hoped she hadn't... I didn't know why, btu I just hoped against hope...

Sam pouted at Teddy's comment. "Hey, hey, I know I'm half-demon, but I'm not that bad. I mean, come on. I follow justice." Sam paused at Markus' reaction, and was 'confused' by how shocked he was. "Huh? We were talking about how we're possibly going to afford feeding these guys. I suggested more advertising, but he said it'd make us look like sell-outs. We also talked about a couple of other things related to business. I'm not used to business, so I had be given a thorough teaching of it." [[She had her alibi in advance.]]

"Don't take it the wrong way; it's just a figure of speech. I say it to full on humans all the time." Teddy hoped that didn't sound like an excuse. It was true, but maybe Sam really hadn't ever heard it before. But he couldn't be too concerned with what she thought; Markus was really starting to make him worry. And Teddy just didn't know what to say to him.

I tried to keep the disbelief out of my eyes and hugged Teddy closer to me. "Right," I said. "Business." I didn't believe that at all. It didnt' take a genius to know she was lying.

Sam sighed, seeing his disbelief. "Honestly, I'm here on call from the Chief, Federal Marshal Ross. I haven't even been here for a day, and you accuse me of being some sort of tramp...!" [[Which is true[that they haven't even known each other for a day], and makes it all the more hilarious xD]] She pouted. "Not every person on the Waterfront sleeps around. I've been here for 3 years, and I haven't laid in another's bed once." [[right, she was on his desk. XD]]

"Just let it go, Markus." Teddy pleaded quietly. In truth, he really didn't want to argue with Sam about her sex life or lack thereof. It sure wasn't any of his business. She was practically a stranger. And she really didn't seem to think much of them; he wasn't so oblivious as to think the sleeping around comment didn't include Markus and he. "We could get out of here, go do something else."
