With a slight chuckle her eyes turned a dark blue. "Come at me boy," Her body seemed to move, yet somehow it didn't. Her voice seemed to be all around him. "What you can't fight and old lady? Come on and get me." Out of the corner of the creature's eye he could see someone running but if he would look there would be no one there. "Don't just stand there boy come at me." Her voice came from behind him now but she stood a few steps from the same spot she was in, in the same position like she had never moved.

Ali sighed, looking at the school map. Where the heck was she? She flipped it upside down to see if it would make a difference. It didn't. She was completely lost. She sighed again, folding up the map and looked around the courtyard. She was pretty sure she was going in circles and that she had been here three times before. She wondered how Alexis was doing with all of this. First, not only did her twin just leave her at the entrance of Ria and leave her to fend for herself, but she left her with all the luggage as well.
She groaned, now remembering she had to share her dorm with her sister. This was going to be pure hell. It wasn't fair that Ali had to be dragged to whatever school Alexis went to. Was it her fault that her sister kept getting kicked out of every school? She thought not. And when she tried to tell this to her parents, they simply shook their heads and said that they needed Ali to be there to keep Alexis 'under control'. As if there was such a thing.

She took a deep breath, heading over to the bench. She sat down and looked at the map again. She had somehow managed to get all of their stuff up into the room, but now she was lost.

A silent man sat near Ali, staring up into the sky. He looked ripped from some castle in the past, dressed in a royal, elegant garb that would make most kings jealous. Fafenir rested against the side of the bench, the rich wood of it's sheath almost glinting in the light. The pale complextion of his skin made it look quite like he had never been in the sun before, which would explain why he was staring up into the sky like he had, infact, never witnessed such a sight before.

His withered white hair turned with him as he turned to face Ali in her mutterings over the map. He smiled softly, watching her continue to wander about the Courtyard several times. He watched as she sat on a bench not too far away from him and he chuckled. It was soft, but if you paid attention you would hear it. He wanted to offer her help with the map, but he decided that in her current mood his gesture might be offensive so he decided to let her ask herself. He turned back to the sky, watching a bird or two fly past.

Ali sighed, looking at the map, beginning to get frustrated. Was she in Courtyard 3 or 4? Or possibly 2?
"Ok.. I came out of the Girl's dormitory, passed the library and this... the cafeteria?" she asked herself, pointing at the map. She ran her hand through her long, purple hair and sighed. She looked up from the map, looking around the courtyard. She had better ask someone so then she knew for next time. Seeing someone sitting on a bench not too far, she walked over and stood in front of him, clearing her throat.
"Excuse me, but could you help me? I'm not too sure which courtyard I'm in," she said, looking at the map again.

"We are in Courtyard 3 at the moment. That is rather confusing, I will admit." came James's rich, soft voice. He seemed frail, although the size of the blade next to him denoted he was capable of defending himself. He turned to Ali and smiled slightly, letting the wind blow his hair about. "May I assume, since you are peering into that map as if your life depended upon it, that you are also new to this place?" he asked. He shifted in the bench a bit, proping his elbow on the back of it and putting his face in it while turned to Ali.

Ali looked on the map and then her eyebrows went up and her eyes widened.
"Oooooh, I see now," she said, looking at the map. She studied it for a second and then folded it up and looked at James. She nodded.
"Yes. Just arrived here today. I was supposed to be here two days ago, when my sister arrived, but I came a tad late," she said, smiling. "Thank you for your help.... ummm...? What is your name?"

James smiled slightly and said "You are quite welcome." and waited a bit, adjusting his positiong so his elbow was not balancing ontop of the back of the bench, but rather pressed against the back. "And my name is James Magnius." he said, smirking at her. He stood up after a moment, letting the thin smirk remained as he picked up Fafenir and held it up beside him, the sword actually taller them him which was quite a feat.

He walked over to Ali, his mass of clothing swaying about wildly. He stopped infront of her bench and reached his free hand down, and said "And you would be?" he asked.

Ali took his hand and shook it firmly. All that was really running through her head was how tall he was.
"Allison Ivy. Ali for short," she said, smiling. She looked at the sword and nodded, impressed. "That looks like a magnificent sword. My sister would be jealous," she said, still smiling, though she was now questiong why she had even brought up the damned devil that was her sister.

Feeling a little embarassed by her holding his hand he tries not to seem odd as they walk off. "Well first I was wondering why you like me?....and why didnt you ask Kurai? you seem closer to him ." he says while looking at the sky then back down and over to Keila. "Also....have you ever......have you ever....have you ever been to the ocean?" he says finally deciding to divert the question from his original one that was ~Have you ever walked on water like land?~ but of course she probably hadnt that was only for people like him and she would probably think he was odd...well odder than she already probably thought he was.

"Ah..Fafenir has been handed down from every swordsman in my family to the next. It was crafted ages ago with a metal that has never been able to be manipulated since. It it's indeed a one of a kind blade." he said, smiling slightly. "Your sister is a swordswoman then? I might like to meet her, it isn't often you meet people dedicated to the blade alone. Most try to mix some magic or other ability with it, few can use a sword by itself." he said. By his speech, it was obvious he was of a higher class or social standing. He leaned against Fafenir as he stood, and said "A pleasure to meet you, Ali." as he nodded his head. "So why excactly did you come here? I'm just curious. I came here to train with those here, since they are rumored to be the best around."

She nodded.
"Yes, Alex is a swordsman. Or women, I guess," she said, laughing slightly. "She can't mix magic into her fighting. Neither of us have magic ability," she sighed as she said that. She looked back up at him. "Well, that would be my sister's fault while I am here. She's a bit... of a rough person," she said, choosing her wording carefully. "She keeps getting dismissed from other schools and out parents see it best if we stick together. So, I'm here because this was the last school that would take her,"

"Ah. Well, I was not 'blessed' with any magical talent eiather, so don't feel bad. It's not quite for everyone." he said, listening to her speak. He nodded at the part about Alexis, chuckling slightly. "Ahh..You must indeed love those type of people. They tend to give you more headaches then anyone is worth, allow me to assure you." he said, a grin on his pale lips. He leaned down a bit, still holding onto his sword and said "Ah, but deep down inside you must still care for her. She is your sister, after all. Nothing breaks that bond, no matter how much you'd like it to." he chuckled softly and stood back up straight again.

Ali sighed and nodded. "True, true... plus we're twins. I guess the bond is a bit stronger that way. But then again, usually with twins, one is evil right? I guess it was pretty obvious in my family," she said, laughing slightly. She looked back up at him and smiled. "Do you have any siblings James?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 13, 2005 10:09 pm

James chuckled slightly and said "Ahh..Two brothers, Leiviun and Kaulte and my younger sister Calily." he said, he smiled slightly and leaned against Fafenir again. "My brothers both outshined me as a child...My parents seemed to favor them quite a bit more. I was..often bedridden as a child, making it difficult to do much..and often Calily would be wind up taking care of me alone. It was an interesting childhood, I must say." He said. His smile took a certain sadness to it, although it passed quickly.

"I still love my family, but I havn't spoken to my brothers in years. Kaulte went on to become a mage of sorts, one of the best in the world and Leiviun seems to have taken the mantle of the family nobility. He's a Baron in some land, serving his king. My sister...passed away soon after I recovered from my illnesses.." he said, turning slightly as the memory gripped him. "She apparently the same illness I had, but had struggled with it on her own while she tended to me instead of telling anyone.." he said softly.

He seemed swept up in his memories for a time, and then shook his head softly. "Ah, but I have rambled on and I'm probably boring you. So tell me, what kind of fighting do you do, if any? Having a sister like her must have driven you to pursue some form of self-defense."

Ali looked down at his words. She felt bad for asking now. It was such a sad story...
She looked back up, putting on a smile.
"Ah yes, well for a long time I was the one she picked on, but from that I have grown to be strong. I'm terrible with swords and axes, unlike her. I'm much better with this," she said, pointing to the mace that was at her hip, the five foot long silver chain coiled up neatly.
She looked down and cleared her throat a little awkwardly. "I'm sorry to hear about your sister..." she said quietly. She couldn't just sit here and not say anything about it. But she didn't want to press on with the matter. He seemed a tad uncomfortable about the topic.
"So, are you only good with swords or can you use other weapons too?"
