OOC: Disappearing after this post; back in a couple of hours. And I call what I see; to do otherwise is to lie.

BIC: *'Bait notices the quick cover when Niana almost reveals the other's name, and gives a half-grin, but otherwise ignores it out of respect. Names have power in the supernatural ... of course, the fact that he himself lives by an alias is purely coincidental.*

Fair enough, I suppose. Of course, since you ended up not using said portal, it doesn't much matter.

*And this doesn't explain what's become of SilverFang ... or half her pack, for that matter. He has an inkling of trouble, but knows there's little he could do at the moment.*

OOC: Your definition of 'lie' is screwy O_o Simply not saying anything is not lying. If you said she was the most patient person in the world, then it would be a lie. Just as Niana did not lie by not saying the other demons name. She just didn't say it. Such, Dragonbait ignores that she slipped out of respect. Same thing applies. You were just being careless, letting Niana's friendly nature cloud your judgment.

BIC: It's mainly just to know we're not trapped here. >>She slowly folded the towel and put it back into the basket<< No one is fine with feeling like they're captive. >>Gingerly the female stood with the basket, offering a smile<< So, how about that game of chess?

ooc: I hate to interupt, or to just post ooc, but does anyone know what's going on with Ontaros? He hasn't posted since a while before I was on my latest disappearing act >.>
PostPosted: Wed Sep 16, 2009 1:42 pm

OOC: I've no idea what happened to Ont, there's no way we're RPing a chess game, and my laptop is practically unusable, which means I can"t do anything except lurk until tomorrow morn. Sorry, folks.

OOC: For some reason, I'm reminded less of Iron's plot and more of a Stephen King novella.

OOC: I posted ... specifically, I posted that there was no way we were going to pull off a chess game properly. *Shrug.* Well, when all else fails ... "time passed". And I return to the Main Hall.

OOC: Well, it's been a while since I posted here, hasn't it?

Just so you all know what's going on ... I can only account for about half of the last month or so. I mean, there's been nothing major or critical going on, but at the same time ... there's always been something preventing me from coming online for more than fifteen or twenty minutes at a time.

Most recently ... well, there was an article linked on Yahoo yesterday about laptops going bad. According to this article (which, like I said, was on Yahoo, so it's accuracy is open to debate), most laptops develop hardware problems and die within the first three years. And one of the worst is Hewlett-Packard; just over one-fourth (25.6%) die within a year.

The reason I bring this up is ... well, guess what kind of laptop I've got? It stays working for about fifteen to twenty minutes (if I bend it into a pretzel, then use my elbow to weigh down one corner), then completely freezes. Rebooting is difficult (there's no guarantee that I'll actually be able to start the thing, let alone actually get into Windows), and even then, there's no guarantee that the wireless will work; half the time, it doesn't, or it conks out mid-page.

Right now, I'm got my father-in-law's former laptop, which isn't exactly portable; the monitor burned out (which is why he gave it to me in the first place), and I have to hook it to a spare monitor in my office. HAL is in pieces, pending me finding some new RAM chips and enough time for a full-scale rebuild (yes, I burned through another motherboard -- BlckRobe, if you're reading this, spare me the wisecracks). And the computers at work tend to lose 'Net connection every time it rains -- which it's been doing a lot lately. None of this is really an excuse for the last month or so, but I want you all to know why I've not been RPing properly.

BUT ... I'm here now, for whatever that's worth. I have no idea what I'm going to do, but I can wing it, at least. And I'd like to share something I found on Motifake a while back. I can't get the image to display properly, so please, clicky linky. I think you'll enjoy.

And now ... back to the story.

BIC: *For several weeks, the man known as Dragonbait has lived on the colossal flying monstrosity SpellJammer. And it's not a bad life, as such; he's had plenty of opportunity to get to know the moogles and make a few observations on their lives. He's also had the chance to visit the surface more than once, and his spartan quarters are slowly becoming filled with books. On the other hand, the majority of the "staff" (for want of a better phrase) seem to be constantly missing; he's not seen Ontaros, nor Silver, nor any of the others, in quite some time. Even Niana, pleasant in spite of her demonic nature, has been conspicuously absent. And that leads to boredom.*

*Now, with over two centuries behind him, one would reasonably assume that boredom and 'Bait are well aquainted. And they are ... but that's not to say that he enjoys it. Familiarity breeds contempt, and he suffers, almost physically, from boredom. So when he enters the Main Hall today, heading for the dial-and-door to teleport back to the surface of the world, it's in a desperate attempt to find something, anything, to occupy his mind. On a whim, he spins the dial rapidly, turning away so as not to see where the door will take him this time.*

Arcane electricity crackles violently before exploding outwardly in a violently bright flash, Ontaros is there suddenly and is for lack of a better word storming across the castle grounds and through the castle itself making a bee line for his quarters in the castle. He needed to be alone to his thoughts for the time being, there was alot on his mind... ALOT on his mind and he was slightly concerned he might get snappy with his comrades and that wasn't something he fancied doing.

(from Famera)

A Doorway appears white with a green star on in in the middle of a field of flowers and out of the doorway steps a man dressed in green robes, with glasses and a horn on his head walking with a staff, His long dark hair and goatee are plainly visible as are his sharp dark green eyes which seem to have a tint of silver in them around the pupils. Behind him the door closes and spins out of existence.

Lore looks around confused.

Lore: Umm..... sweatdrop Where am I? I think I made a wrong turn somewhere.

He conjures himself an elegant chair to sit in and pulls out his map again being completely oblivious to anyone around him.

Lore's chair begins to laugh a little bit before it starts to speak "It seems your spell was a little cross wired by the magic dampening field, though I must say it's strange that you turned up here, of all places Lore. You saved me the trouble of looking for you. Also, your chair didn't quite make it here either, so I filled in. Don't worry, you'll adjust to the field soon enough."

Lore jumps out of the chair as it starts to laugh and falls on the ground staring at the chair. Not so much that it was laughing but at the fact that he didn't make it an animated when he conjured it.

Lore: Umm...up here?....magic damping field?....looking for me?....

He couldn't figure out which question to ask first of the talking chair so they all came out like one question.

He thought for a minute getting his bearings

Lore: Of course a magic dampening field would mess with subspace if the path you create intersects with one and you didn't know before hand to stabilize it.

Lore: Who are you, and where am I exactly?

The chair disappears and in it's place Ontaros stands before Lore with his usual smile "Well I'm Ontaros, the master of this region, and you are on the Spelljammer... Welcome." He offers a hand to his fellow mage and helps him to his feet. "We have need of your talents my friend, and it's quite fortunate you wound up here."
