Gaia... Is an immortal? Kyfen was pretty shocked. It was pretty obvious she wan't mortal, what with the body made of trees and the etheral aura. But still... They had always been taught at school that the greeks had worshipped Gaia, the mother of all that existed. She was the same person?
She didn't look like someone to worship- though her powers were great, and her wisdom evident, she had a bittersweet sadness about her that betrayed her apparent power, something that made you almost want to pity her. She was beautiful, yet it was a porcelin beauty- something you feared to touch, as it could easily break. Her eyes were tired, as if she had seen too much in too long a time. After 6.4 billion years, Kyfen doubted whether there was anything she hadn't seen before. He was just another immortal to her, and the thought made him feel smaller.
If she was immortal, did that mean he had such powers within him? And the other's he'd met? If it did, then some of them evidently hadn't shown it, or kept it secret.
"Gaia..." He said, trailing off. A choice had been put in front of him, and though she had implied nothing, with an intellect most twelve year olds didn't posses he knew she wanted him to decide.
But he wasn't going to; not yet. He had one more thing to ask.
"Gaia..." He looked up, and a slight sadness was in his eyes, a sadness that had never been there before, nor should be. It made the boy look almost a decade older. "...Is it lonely? Living for so long? Is it worth it?"
Kyfen knew it wasn't his place to ask. He feared Gaia's retribution, and yet... He felt it was a question he had to ask.

Gaia blinked. Kyfen was one of the few immortals who dared ask that. "It can be very lonely. If you fall in love with a mortal, they will be gone in the blink of an eye. Too many immortals have fallen to a mistake similar to this.

"It may seem useless to live any longer if this is to happen. But if you're a mortal, there are so many things you would never be able to fit into 70 or 80 years. Immortals deal with more sorrow then a mortal soul could bear, yes. If you cannot stand dying, the death of others, I don't suggest you stay with Cyrea or Yata. They can disrupt your way of thinking." Gaia sank back, a more relaxed position upon her. She was done talking.

And when Gaia was done talking, she was done talking.

Conall just watched Lynn struggle to walk, not making a crack, not really showing any emotion. He just waited for her to get her balance, and stand up straight.

luaghing he said, "The girl you like it's sally ain't it? you wouldn't like any mortals though, they come and go extremly fast. The loss of one you love can wreak you for years." he lowerd his eyes, letting them become misty in the days of old when he loved a young princess and she loved him back. that changed though, an invaiding army killed her. "I am extremly old i fell in love with many, all of them mortals. all of them went. Born in darkness only to return to darkness. Seeing little light before death takes them in it's cold hands and returns them from whence they came."

"yeah I love sally, and believe me I've made a mistake like that." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Mortal girls are how should I say this...Uhm pretty to look at but have a bare soul..And are freakshly annoying.."

he gave a smile he was begging to like matt, "So.... When did your mom die? sorry if your touchy on this subject."

Gaia clearly wasn't going to say anymore. Kyfen understood, and part of him knew that the curiousity inside him could never be sated, and never would be, not in his long lifetime. But that wasn't important. What was important right now, was the choice. And what a choice it was.
Kyfen didn't move- not to sit down, not to kneel. His legs didn't feel tired- even after standing for such a prolonged time. He doubted pain could exist in a place like this, a place of life.
He thought, battling internally within himself for a long time, over two hours. But, in the end, the outcome was the same. He'd decided he what we wanted to be as soon as he had grasped Cyrea's hands. With these people, the immortals who lorded it over the mortals, he had found a home waiting for him. He wasn't sure if he could ever think like them; he doubted he could be so dismissive about death or anything else, but he knew that he couldn't be anything else. The life that he'd been experiancing before now lay behind him like an empty, useless shell- and even if he could return, he wouldn't. He was a child, but he had been through enough in his life to make an adult decision. And here it was.
"Gaia. I want to be an apprentice of the Twenty."
He said it confidentely, without any of the regret he would feel for this decision later. Kyfen wasn't even sure what the job entailed, but he knew it was what he was meant to do.

Starting here, maybe the true story of his life could begin.

"Nah, I'm not touchy on the subject everyone always asked. See my parents...didn't reallly get along all that well. And my dad beat her..Personaly I think this was my fault but anyways. My dad was yelling at me...For something I didn't do, it was the foster kid he took in. He stole from him...And my mom knew who it was...she tried and tried and tried.. But he wouldn't believe us. As soon as he went to hit me...My mom stepped in and stabbed him... She got taken away to jail and I...Ran...they never caught me...But I swore I'd get her out... But I was a bit to late...She had a tumor in her brain...She died in jail the night she arrived...If she hadn't gotten taken away...She may have been able to live too..." Matt didn't cry.. didn't smile. didn't frown. He stood there emotionless. A cold expressioned face. "The mortals live to die, but the innocent and the good always die first.."

"Then..." Gaia nodded. "You will find which you wish to live behind, to treat as your parent. That is a decision only you can make. But I'm sure that whatever choice you make will be the correct one for you. Do not rush yourself. This choice may very well control your life." Gaia's outline began to sink back into the wall of compacted dirt. "Cyrea will take you back to the others. I'm sure some will find you disagreeable, but you'll find friends in them." Gaia's outline had completely disappeared, leaving behind only a few roots crawling slowly after her.

"Gaia!" Kyfen said, but it was too late, as the last roots sank into the dirt. He doubted she would've stopped if he'd said it before, anyway. Maybe he'd struck a nerve with the lonely question, or maybe this was how she treated all immortals.
After standing in silence for a while, Kyfen walked back to Cyrea, standing away from the two of them. As he went, he saw all sorts of creatures and sights- things that would stay with him forever, as a reminder to the best things in life. It may have been a short walk, but Kyfen began to wish it had been much longer.
So he had to choose who would be his mentor: Yada, or Cyrea? Or maybe there were others of the twenty in this town, who'd be willing to meet him, a little orphan boy who'd never done anything very noteworthy until today.
Yeah, right Thought Kyfen, pushing the idea to the back of his mind. Gaia had been right. There really was no reason to rush things.
Finally he reached Cyrea, and smiled at her, a smile full of honesty, but with a glint of wisdom in his eye that hadn't been there before.
"Heya!"

he stood there as cold as a statue then said, "It isn't your fault when death comes to take one away, it'll have what it wants. It wanted your mom. You can't blame your self for something that'd would happen natrualy. Your father was an A**. He refused to listen to reason." finally saying, "What happen to the b*sterd? He die and what about the thief?"

Lynn was relived that Conall's intention wasn't to make a crack at her. She wiped the dirt off her dress and fixed her hair, then headed to the stage. It was probably about her time to practice her solo dance and song. Not that she was in the mood to do it anymore, it was just what she was assigned to do.

Conall watched as Lynn cleaned herself up and walked to the stage, and did something no one had ever seen, not even another Immortal: look fondly at someone. Conall looked back to his shuko and began meticulously cleaning them.
