I'm a wide brimmed hat, sombrarro wide, the cake ruins the hat, but doesn't splat on whoever was wearing it at the time it was dropped/ fell.

The hat combusts due to a chemical in the hat mixing with a chemical in the cake, making a small, non-lethal explosion, thus splatting the cake on Kobo and anyone within a seven meter radius of the blast.
