"Oh my GOD!" Emerwyn stared on in the horrible realization that Julian's transformation was taking place. The fur was noticably growing, it was undeniable. They had come... while she was sleeping? She'd let him down... It wasn't as though she could have stopped them, but, she felt so helpless knowing it had happened right in front of her. Like when the men had come to inject Nita. She pulled his sheets out of the way, and sat on the side of the bed. She spoke calm, quiet words, and touched him where she could. Anything to distract from his pain. As he writhed, however, it grew more difficult.

The agony wouldn't cease - the fur grew thicker and thicker, sweeping slowly over his arms, legs, and even his face. He screamed from time to time, shaking from head to toe with fear and pain.
"I DON'T...WANT - AGH...."
His paws snapped to his face as the whiskers began to grow, tears running down the silvery fur that had just grown.

Emerwyn had no idea what to do, other than to continue her attempts to calm him, and now, to prevent him from clawing himself, should the risk arise. She attempted to take his paws in her own hands, holding htem gently, but firmly.
There was a strange irony in what was happening just now. The silver, striped fur obtaining even more of a dominance over his body. She could see the Smiling Cat, everywhere, but in his face.

Crying, he gripped back at her hands, somehow finding a little solace in them.
He opened his mouth to speak again...but was cut short as his jaw began to feel as if it were breaking...or growing. Numbly, he realized this must be his muzzle - he was going to look less human than he already did.
The tears came faster.

It was too much to handle, being so helpless to save him. So twisted it was, the gradual, but eventually apparant growth and change of his face. To see the very bones of a living creature turn and twist like that, it made these transformations she'd been experiencing and seeing that much worse, and only now so much more real. For the first time in over a year.
She tried to hum a song, but it was hard; the melody got lost, and she could never quite find where the last part had gone.

His face stopped moving - and for a moment, he thought things were slowing down. He clenched tighter at her hands, as if clinging to something more....
He slid his glance to the side, and spotted the Cat on the floor, knocked out, unable to comfort him....
And the glint of a black mask as a tall creature only he could see shook his head.
Emerwyn would feel the cause of his final screams as his thumbs began to shift upward and back into his paws.

Her hands had to force themselves to hold on to the contorting shape of Julians'. It was a sick, sick, thing. Where did they go? Within only a short matter of time, appendiges that were full, whole and functional were simply... gone. The pain was something she could only just remember vaguely, like some strange and distant memory that was not entirely hers. She did not know what Julian was looking at, only that whatever it was probably only worsened his condition.
She leaned forward in his last cries, and took him, holding him close to her bosom.

With a last stab of pain, and the last burning ebbing away...it was done. Sobbing and helpless, he pawed at her, trying futilely to grasp at the fabric of her clothes.
"...I don't want to be trapped in Wonderland...I don't want to...." His face was sore as he spoke, and his whiskers brushing against Emerwyn were tender and prickling, but...he couldn't pull away.

Emerwyn held him as though he were a crying child, something precious and fragile. "I want to take you away from there. I shall come back for you... I want to come back, so that we can both escape." In truth, Emerwyn was still trapped in Wonderland, though in a different way than Julian was. From the day she had committed herself to be his friend, she had stepped into his world, and it had ensnared her, too. She had wandered through the Tulgy Wood, had seen the Jabberwock with eyes of flame. And now that she had been free, she was willing to go back to the place that had haunted her as well, to pull out the friend she had promised to help and protect.

"...But if you...come back...then...."
He looked up at her - behind the feline muzzle and all that fur, Julian's eyes were still there...still a frightened, widened green.
"...He might take you, too...he might trap you...I'm sure now he wants to let the Jabberwock and the Bandersnatch come...and...and...."
He made a funny, feline clicking sound.

Emerwyn smiled gently at him. "That does not matter to me. I promised I would help you, and to that vow I hold. If I can help you, perhaps both of us can make it out. We can defeat him."

"...We...we can....?"
He glanced to where the Hatter stood, watching him with painted, mismatched eyes...then looked back to Emerwyn again, his voice dropping to a hoarse whisper.
"...You can't see him...can you...? He's...he's not...really there...?" He said this as if he were uncertain.

Her smile grew, and she nodded. She kept her eyes on Julian. "No," she whispered. "I see none before my eyes but you."

"...You...don't see him...."
Another glance toward where the man in question was standing...to where the Cat was on the floor. For a paniced moment, he thought the Cat to be dead, but...upon closer inspection...Cheshire was drawing breath.
"...Cheshire...Cheshire's knocked out...."

Emerwyn's face now turned curious. Cheshire Cat was in a different location than the other one he'd referred to. Was it the Jabberwock?
She didn't know what to say. "Knocked out? ... Who is the other, Julian?" Had the other knocked him out?
