"I don't mean any harm," Elberon said hastily to Donovan and Triton. "I've just always been one to have to see everything for myself."

He held up one hand to show them that there was one finger missing. "Everything," he repeated solemnly. Then he grinned. "But I found out how the blades worked."

Cindy nodded at that thought, and it had been only possibily two years she thought.

"You're right, I'm sure things will turn out well," Cindy murmured.

As long as Feng didn't find out she was sure, Seconds were straightforward people, at least all her siblings were.

"Didn't your Mommy ever tell you not to touch sharp pointy metal?" Lin asked him pointing to his hand.

While Donovan would have reassured the man he did not take it the wrong way, Lin was also just as distracting, and just as forward.

"Lin, don't point at peo- when did Kara tell you this?"

"I didn't touch it!"

Donovan rubbed the bridge of his nose, he probably didn't need to hear that actually. Why did the little girl had to speak up now of all times anyways? Oh yes, she thought the man was funny.

"I found it under Mia's pillow."

Triton chuckled at that though he tried not to, just because he thought it was rude of him, but on the other hand this guy really reminded him of Feng. Only for different reasons, probably the need to do something dangerous.

"This place will certainly feed your curiousity then."

Haradhel packed up her sewing. "Well, it's a little frustrating," she admitted. "It's so obvious to everyone except her ... somehow she just doesn't see it." She shook her head slowly and rose from her seat, putting her sewing back where she had gotten it from in the first place.

"Would you like to help out with lunch?" she asked Cindy. "Bit more to prepare than usual today, with so many extras here."

Elberon grinned. "Well, I've been forbidden to work in the fields ..."

He wiggled his remaining fingers once before lowering his hand again.

"... they say it's too dangerous for me. As for lectures," he chuckled and looked at Lin, "yes I was told not to touch, but they wouldn't tell me why. Now I know."

Cindy rose from her seat and strentched, for she had been there longer than expected. She nodded as she checked on the plant/animal for just a second.

"Of course," Cindy replied.

Lin looked at his hand and decided she didn't need to lose her fingers quite yet. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing she wasn't allowed to look at the weapons.

"I like my fingers," she replied softly.

Donovan mused on that, well at least the man was good natured, though odd didn't really cover the beginning impressions of the man. He placed a gentle hand on her head to make her stop.

"Well since I don't have any questions, do you?" he asked Elberon.

"Thank you," Haradhel smiled, and she headed past Cindy and through the dining room to the kitchen. She started taking out large pots and setting them on the counter until she found the two she was looking for, then put the rest of them away. Then she headed for another cupboard and pulled out a frying pan.

"There's a stack of small logs just outside this door here," she told Cindy, nodding at a door in the back wall of the kitchen. "If you could get enough to fill the fireplace around the oven that would be great." She pointed to the oven, which was built into the outside wall. On each side were metal doors for the fires.

She herself opened the trapdoor that led down to the cellar and disappeared down the stairs into the darkness.

Elberon grinned at Lin. He was about to reply to her when Donovan asked him if he had any questions, and out of the corner of his eye he saw Elrohir flinch. He knew what that was about, and he chuckled.

"How many can I ask?" he grinned mischievously.

Cindy nodded and went off to gather the firewood needed. At least that way she could be useful, though she begun cooking after gaining height (though she had attempted many times before), she had never done so by use of firewood.

She put enough in that she wasn't overburden but it wasn't too little before coming back in to place the logs, it would probably take more than one trip.

Donovan smirked at that, at least someone had a sense of humour, though he wondered how everyone else felt about it.

"Three," he replied.

Haradhel was back only a few minutes later with a basket full of potatoes, a second, smaller basket filled with naekeurtsl leaves, and a large roast of venison. She put the meat in one of the pots, half-filled it with water, and set it inside the oven.

"Need a hand with anything?" she asked Cindy as she watched her putting the logs in the fireplaces. At the same time, she filled the other two pots with water and filled the smaller one with the leaves, then set it aside.

Elrohir let out a sigh of relief. "Good number," he muttered to Donovan.

Elberon chuckled at Elrohir's remark, knowing full well what he was talking about.

"Three," he grinned, "very well. Three questions. First, what made you decide to attempt a venture such as this in the first place; second, why you are only going to be coming every few years at best, as I'm told; and third, how do you expect to be able to keep this place running, how you're going to keep everyone paid, if you're only here every few years. No matter how much gold you have, no gold lasts that long with such a small number of ventures."

Cindy smiled a bit as she set down another load and shook her head, "I'll be fine, probably just one more trip and it shoudl be ready."

She trotted back out to get the last load.
