Kail'igen strokes Petra's head softly. It's alright you passed out briefly, but your awake now. You had me worried for a moment. Don't worry about Vincent ,he's just venting some anger. I'd like to yell at the forest myself. Were going to be fine we are almost out of the pass it wont be much longer now. You just wait back here to you are ready to come out. I must go address the others." Kail then stands up and walks out of the back of the wagon. "Master Morty is right. We are strong. We will get through this. Everything the bandits have thrown at us we have repelled and now we are almost through the pass. It wont be long now till we are waving goodbye to this accursed place. We will be triumphant, just as we have been so far. We will show these bandits what it means to mess with Master Morty and his team of adventures. Now lets get going and show these bandits that we mean business." Kail was not use to being the leader. It was not in his personalty. Yet with the disappearance of Radryn of it had been hoisted upon him. And by the maker, he was going to see to it that everyone got through this.

Master Morty moves towards Vincent, a reluctant sigh upon his lips. Clearing his throat, he begins to speak. "Umm, hey there laddie... are you awake? I couldn't help but notice your rather peculiar circumstances over the last few fights. It's that thing attached to your arm, right? Won't let no proper healing magic near you, I'm a figurin'. I might have something that can help you, though the price comes higher than mere gold. It be a difficult road we travel; I just thought you should have the option, though it turns my stomach to offer it."

Vincent, aroused by Master Morty's voice, looks up into his kindly face. Vincent smiles weakly, mostly from the blood loss. "What is it that you have in mind?" Vincent asks. Though in truth, the thought of letting the item go, only to have someone else suffer its curse turns his stomach. I can't be greedy. But I should listen. Maybe he has an idea to destroy it?

A guarded expression crosses Master Morty's face, as if he is unsure how to proceed. "Well now, if it were within my power to rid ye of that accursed device, rest assured I would do all I could to do so. But, since I lack such skill, I can only offer alternatives that suit the purposes of the Diabolical weapon. I have within my wagon a load of critters meant for the pampered children of Noble families across the land. The sweetest of temperament, the softest of fur, these cute little bunnies never did a lick of harm to no one. But since that accursed sword won't heal you without the loss of life, perhaps the sacrifice of a few of these harmless little babies could see you right. If your conscious can take it, that is. 'Tis a hard choice, I know; but I had to offer given our circumstances. They run 100 chips each, and should restore as much as a healing potion, based on what I've seen of your cursed sword's hunger. So what do you think lad, are you up to it?"

At Master Morty's words the eyes of the sword seem to smolder with hunger-hunger reflected in Vincent's own. After a long pause however, Vincent finally manages to shake his head no. "Master Morty, your concern touches me greatly, but taking the life of an innocent is something I cannot do. I do appreciate your coming to me with this, but I must decline. After all, if I did that, would I be any better than the bandits of these mountains?" Vincent's gratitude is reflected in his voice as well as his smile. Besides, there are plenty of sinning bandits to fill my swords hunger on... he thinks to himself.

A look of vast relief is apparent on Master Morty's face, at Vincent's response. "Well lad, I'm glad to hear it is you who controls the sword and not the other way round. We will get through this yet, may the Gods be willing. I only wish there was another option to the healing of your wounds. I am touched at your strength of character, however and will remember you for all my days." Master Morty returns to his wagon, finding his bedroll as night begins to fall. He knows the bandits must be nigh, but is secure in the fact that his defenders are capable ones...

Kail’igen once again patrols the camp ground. It would be another night of little sleep for him. He doubted he would have been able to sleep comfortably for any length of time anyways. There was a threat out there looming menacingly from the shadows which he knew could strike at any moment. He wanted to be awake and ready for it when it happened.

As Luc's throat quenches for thirst he rolls over, and sitts up. I fell asleep? And how did I get into this wagon? Luc thought getting out of his bed. He must have been so tired he went to bed, and can't remember it. Luc then walks to the supply wagon and gets a drink of water. On his way back he sees the quite tired Kail walking slowly along the side of the train. "Hey there Kail. You'd better get some sleep. I can watch for a bit, besides I think Petra needed you for something." Luc said knowing that Petra was fast asleep. He could see something develouping between those two, and thought it wouldn't hurt to try to help them out. If the two fell in love, it would make the both of them stronger and more able to make it through the trail. "Go on Kail, I've got this." Luc says with a grin.

Petra rests quietly in the wagon, pretending to sleep, watching night fall. As she peers inconspicuously over the edge of the wagon, her eyes are no longer riveted to Vincent--now they follow Kail as he patrols around the area. Nights could be dangerous, and she knows how important it is to him that he keep everyone safe. She feels a blush rise on her cheek as she thinks about his kind words and gentle touch. He's so brave, she thinks tenderly, to take on the leader's role. He knows how much we need him. Her hand goes to her heart as she watches him, as if to still its pounding.

Her eyebrows raise as she sees Luc approach Kail, and talk to him, grinning. She is glad to see the grin on the boy's face; it's been a while since anyone has done much smiling. Though his expression relaxes her, she can't make out his words to Kail and wonders what they are.

As the night grows cold and the Moon rises, the band of adventurers shift their watch as best they can. A gentle breeze begins to blow, as the clouds draw close, shielding the valley from the cold night sky. Darkness seems to draw even closer to the wagons, as a strange silence descends upon the camp. In the distance, three shadowy figures approach, quiet as death itself...

Kail lets out his all too familiar sigh. "I don't know if i could sleep even if I wanted too, but you say Petra wanted me for something? Alright I'll go see what she needs while you keep watch. Just give a holler if you see anyone coming. Kail then walks form the edge of the camp over to the sleeping area where Petra was at. "Luc said you needed to see?"

Petra is surprised when Kail proceeds directly from talking to Luc to her side. So they had been discussing her... "Oh, um... I don't recall telling Luc that I needed you, but... Well, it's nice of you to come over to me anyways." She smiles shyly at him. She felt better with him around.

"I can't really sleep, and I guess you can't either. I saw you walking around, keeping watch. If you like, I could take your place... I couldn't get to sleep under this foreboding moon, anyways..." Her words trail off as she turns to the bloated moon cresting over the treetops.

Kail'igen sits down beside Petra and lets out a grown as he does so. It had been a while since he had last sat down. I believe most of the people here are having problems sleeping this evening. There no need for you to worry about keeping watch. Luc has just relieved me for a while. Kail leans back and watches as the moon begins to get covered by clouds in the sky. Well I believe that will help the problem but I find it odd the moon unnerves you. I have always found it a source of comfort. The moon keeps us from being shrouded in darkness during twilight. It's one of the greatest sources of light in the black of night.

Petra frowns a little. "It's true that it's a light in the darkness, but I've always found it a little... unwholesome." She smiles slightly. "It's hard to explain how I feel about it, and I don't claim that it makes sense or anything... but it's a symbol of the night, and I... well, I hate the dark." Her expression falters as her eyes sweep the darkness around them.

She inches closer to Kail. "You know, I haven't slept hardly at all since you found me in the forest. It's so hard to believe all that's happened in the past few days. I started out so innocent... so naive..." Her voice is breaking as she begins to cry. "Oh, I'm sorry," she whispers, "I must seem so weak to you! It's just so alien to me--I had a very peaceful life up until now--I'm trying to be strong, but it's so hard when nothing in my quiet, little life has prepared me for this!" She sobs helplessly, trying unsuccessfully to staunch the flow of tears. Petra leans towards Kail, seeking solace from the dark night.

Kail'igen is caught off guard by the sudden burst of emotions, but he embraces her trembling body. He wraps his dark worn cape around her and speaks to her softly. "It's alright just let it out. You might find it hard to believe but just 4 years ago I was much like you. I was 19 year old meek timid boy living with my step grandma, step mom, and 4 step sisters. all of them tired to control my life and I let them. So as far as things go you are proving to be a far braver and stronger person then I was at your age. You can take solace in that."
