"Corrupt?" Doktor Faust asked, smiling eerily. "Darling, there is nothing to corrupt... we're all mad here.... we're al cadavers that happen to have pulses..."
Helen reached forward. Faust VIII suddenly felt extremely uneasy. It hadn't been so bad when Helen was drinking his blood. Sure, he was a little light-headed, but it felt wonderful to give something so important to a creature so beautiful. But the gleam in Helen's eyes was almost predatory when she looked at Netsubo.

"What do the dead do, except pine for the living? Take what they can from it, mimic it?" Doktor Faust asked. "Helen is dead, but in the end all she does is make you more alive... every moment with her is sheer bliss... everything she takes, she gives back better than it was before..."
The spell was starting to wear off of Faust. "Netsubo... it's not good... I thought it was but it's not..." Faust realized that Helen's desire was bottomless, like a black gaping chasm, and it would never be satisfied.

"It feels good... but it's not...." Faust said. He couldn't seem to elaborate further. "She'll try to take your soul from you, Netsubo..."
Helen's blank expression slipped for a moment, and she looked almost angry.

"I tried to tell her," mephistophiles sighed. "She's a shade. Men fall in love with her, and women just fall. Since she has no life of her own, she has to take it from others..."
Just then, Helen slipped to the floor, writhing and convulsing. Doktor Faust flew to her side, kneeling and speaking rapidly in German.
"Was ist passiert?! Faust VIII asked. He was still pale and feeling faint from blood loss, but there was something terribly wrong with Helen.

Faust VIII looked up at her, his eyes wide in his gaunt face. "She's going into labor," he said, as if he didn't believe it.

Doktor Faust wasted no time in scooping up Helen and running with her towards the bedroom. "Let me help!" Faust VIII called. "I'm a doctor..."
"As am I!" snapped Doktor Faust.
"She is dead," Faust VIII said to Netsubo. "But... she is of a world where the dead can be manipulated to do anything. She has been my ancestor's lover and confidante, she has given him everything he thinks he needs..." he leapt up. "I must help. If something goes wrong tonight, I'll never be born!"

"It's really happening, and something is very wrong!" Faust said. Taking a deep breath and trying to collect himself, he said slowly, "Here's what's going on... I'm descended from a bitter, unstable necrophiliac and a corpse. For whatever reason, she's about to deliver prematurely, and if her baby dies then me and all of my ancestors after Doktor Faust will never be born."

Faust paused before answering, obviously conflicted. "Well... yes... but Doktor Faust has poured so much into making sure this baby survives, and I helped...." he obviously didn't want Netsubo to give any of her life to Helen, even though it would help.
