Shouyin blushed an uncharacteristically deep shade of red at the innuendo. He really didn't appreciate how easily this woman could affect his feelings and whatnot. Coughing roughly in an effort to somehow clear up his complexion, he'd clear his throat, pausing as he formulated a response.

"Dark Lord?--- I just felt like doing some good for once."

October 13th
5:23 P.M.

I, Doctor Galguzette, have made outstanding progress today. As a matter of fact, I think we may be able to launch it this weekend.

My lab assistant, Tim, has prepped the unit for deployment, and states that it has been a long, hard journey for all of us, but with this launch, it will likely be a great profit for us all. Or so I am inclined to translate from his, "dude, this is gonna make us all phat cats. 'Bout time for all the work."

What a boob.

As for the actual project, I have decided to name it for my eldest son, whom has given me more pride in his years as a necromancer, than the rest of my children have in all seven of their lifetimes put together. It's really a pride that my young man, at only twenty, has been capable of so much.

All of my children are magically inclined you know. Even the little one. He's a little stupid, and very short. But a good wizard he'll be some day.

However, for the moment, I can not allow myself to go on with this senseless babble. I need to document the final report of the Mecha.

NOTE, as stated, is named for my son. The power of the mech is a submariner. Six seperate engines work in unison, each propelling the small submarine as far as one hundred miles from it's transmitter. As the target has been noted only a few miles to sea, we don't suspect any problems in locating a target. The hull can take an estimated seventy shots from a submachine gun before begining to tear, and there is a thick under-armor with it that has been classified impervious to damage. However, the enemy has a way for making impervious into tinfoil. It is for this reason that the hull has been backed with a new technology known as vibrewire.

Essentially, this weapon is monowire, a length of steel that is cellularly thin, but still has strength and durability. Adding this to a pair of high-frequency vibrating machines, we create a wire that moves at such a pace, it can actually successfully cut diamond, almost as well as a laser cut. So, our thick, bulky hull is covered in multiple little vibrewires, followed by the outer hull.

It's weaponry consists of two small pellet launchers. The pellets are made of a plastic compound that, when hitting something made of steel at a high velocity, causes a small explosion. Not big enough to damage, more of the kind to stun. Furthermore, the pellets are filled with a small amount of shreded alluminum, so that the explosion will cause a Chaff effect. If the target are actually machines and not simply mutants, then this will cause a likely jam of the target's radar and transmitter, rendering them helpless for a small while.

It's secondary weapon is an electromagnetic pulse which will shut down electric machinery in a surrounding 2mi. distance for a long while. While, yes, this will deactivate NOTE for a short period of time, a timer is set in the machine that if the power goes out for more than thirty seconds without an activation code, a reserve energy source will kick on, giving it function for up to a half hour. This will be plenty long enough for the machinery to get back online, not to mention give us an upper hand on the target.

Now for the grand feature. The Captrue Net. This function is the most astounding to watch. The NOTE unit actually splits in two and separates, revealing a net and a pair of capture claws. These claws are three-taloned, and not particularly efficient in anything other than grabbing and sticking to the net. Now, the net collapses very neatly, but there in lies the beauty of it. We can, through the use of remote cameras, see if NOTE caught anything, and prepare it for a different kind of holding, where it is dragged under the ship. The net has a low-grade electric pulse running. Enough to shock a fish, or shut down a machine.

The thrusters ought to have enough kick to get us out of the water after we've successfully caught a few of them.

With any luck at all, this project will go off without a hitch.

This is Doctor Galguzette, signing off until launch day!

::She leaned back in her chair and giggled just a bit as if Shou had just become the star of "Kids Say the Darndest Things" and she was a audience member. And the blush just made it that much worse for the poor half golem.::

Something good?

::She stifled a bit of laughter.::

And a god in dark ominous black armor standing in the midst of wasteland comes across to you as guardian of good?

::She really just couldnt stop the laughter, and finally decided to just let it roll free. It was odd, she didnt laugh as one might expect, it wasnt a seductive laughter, but something far closer to the laughter you would hear a villian let forth after trapping the brave hero. It was dark, and echoed in a few of the nearby spaces.::

Something good, oh dear sweet Ariak. Cute and funny, you must win all the ladies hearts.

And with that chilling laugh, all the awkwardness would dissipate, replaced with good ol' fashioned annoyance.

"I try-- Now," he stood up, "if you don't have anything else to offer, I'll just be on my way."

So there they stood at the end of the longest fishing dock in Latent. Dr. Derled Galguzette and Tim with their project for the last year, NOTE. The Doctor stood in a labcoat. Not because it was a lab, but because it was cold. As for Tim, his was playing off an old joke in highschool, wearing an orange hoodie which is painfully tightened around his head, making his overly large eyes appear very "Kenny"ish.

NOTE was sitting on the edge of the dock whilst Tim was preparing the remote system, along with running a diagnostic check, making sure every tiny thing that could be wrong was corrected before something went up in smoke. Galguzette seemed mostly content to take the credit for this event and take no real part in the work. His theories all proved true, but it was Tim who did all the work.

But it was time. One O' Clock was the schedualed time, but they were ready ahead of schedual. It wasn't normal, but it was the way time spun today. Tim stood and looked to the Doctor who would give him acceptance to go forward. Upon a simple nod, Tim very carefully lowered the extremely heavy machine into the sea with a length of rope.

The first action was to send out a series of pings. They were looking for metal. Steel. After all, real fish don't have any metal on their bodies, except mythrill fish, but that isn't even real metal. No, they were looking specifically for metalic signals on small-ish moving objects. The Target, the evil metal fish things.

"...Let's get things moving, Tim. We haven't got time to sit around and wait."

"All we're doing is hurry up and wait." Tim said as he picked up what appeared to be VR goggles. From them was a pair of wired metal rods that go down and connect to a replica of the capture claws, three talons connecting at the tips. Even more interesting was an unusual chair that Tim was sitting in. The chair had a pair of paddles for each foot. The outside paddles made the thrust engines opperate on either side. The inside paddles caused the reverse engines (which are really just compressed air, and thus only marginally useful) to kick on and get the NOTE to back up some. "...And this is the hurry up."

Ping...

Ping...

Ping...

:: Oh did she smile. Its not very often a villian gets to play the cleche villian.::

I thought perhaps I could sum up the competition...another disappointment.

::She never really moved from her seat but simply twirled the umbrella in er left hand. Her maniacal laughter was quite honestly meant to upset the mood somewhat. She was after all the villian in this story, no use getting buddy buddy with the hero. And so, as the villian, when Shouyin stood she was bound to say her villianous speach.::

I'm sorry, you must have gotten the wrong idea. Did I say you could go?

::Her stood calmly seated as her shadow stretched out long and fast in front of Shouyin and splintered into several different streams like the branching tentacles of monster, at least 12 different tentacles. And just 20ft in front of Shouyin the tentacles would stop, pool, and from them would rise another copy of the Shadow Warrior Shouyin had fought earlier. As they formed they immediately sprung into motion surrounding the Half Golem and taking their matching battle stances as they prepared for combat.

The woman, and leaned back in her chair, yet still twirling her umbrella, and acted so very innocent and surprised.::

Oh! A fight mmmmm....mesermize me Velvel...

::Ahh the wonderful sea full of splendorous wonders such as silvery fish attacking a dock, and water, and coral, and octopi, and the like. Thought obviously the octopi and the silvery fishes were only visible to those beneath the surface. A submarine for one should be able to see below the surface. But in its current form the submarine had one crucial design floor that crippled it. It could only see under the water, when it was infact under said water.

As it stands, NOTE was lowered down and landed with a tiny gentle splash on the waters surface. One would think that it should then sink...but it did not. It floated on the waters surface, as if the water was only a few inches deep. Granted, the water directy beneath the sub seemed, darker, but that was the only hint of any odd behavior.

A single silvery fish even decided to take a crack at the sub, launching itself through the air, only to be horribly shredded by the ships defenses. The rest of the fish seemed to simply carry on their merry way. Though should those scanners still activate, they would infact find traces of other metals inside the local fishes. But steel, was at a completely normal level.::

With a quick scurry, Tim got back to his post and slowly put the thrusters on, his feet very gently thrusting the ship forward, buzzing through the water, it would attempt to find it's target. But to be completely honest, with the little bit of research that Dr. Galguzette had preformed, they didn't know the actual trigger of the evil machine fish.

The pings would continue to quietly and persistantly, and Tim was concentraited.

::Tim, unfortunately was not a submarine he was a man. And as the kids down the dock splashing in the water would prove....splash, went Tim's feet as he fell into the full depth of the water. The sub, however bobbed on the waves like a bouy. It would be pushed down, only to bubble back up. Someone under the ship, might notice the grouping of rather large bubbles beneath the sub. It was true, no one knew the actual trigger of the evil machine fish, but the fish had learned from two previous attempts that these "submarine" or sub shaped vehicles meant to impede their path. And while the actual cause was hidden, it was also quite active.

Oddly though, an octupus had started circling around the dock area.::

"... Competition?" Angry and confused, Shouyin began to turn back around mid-step, and was faced with the shadow mistress' rather villainous and commanding statement, and a whole bunch of tentacles that turned out to be--

"Yeah, I'll give you a real show."

::They gave him the chance, after all she wanted a good show. Just as his socks were cast 3 moved in from Shou's, one moved airborne to attempt a swift kick to Shou's upper torso area. While the second dove low for a sweeping kick at about the hieght of Shou's knee's. And the third slid in the middle aiming to deliver a punch to Shou's mid section.

Simultaneously a second group of 3 from the opposite direction dove into action mimicing the first three, aiming to sending another aerial kick to Shou's face while another aimed for his opposite leg. The only difference was that the middle attacker aimed to grapple Shou from behind by attempting to reach for his arms and pin them behind his back, so that his fellow attackers could attack.

The remaining 6 seemed content to watch, as did she, simply smiling with a finger tracing her bottom lip as the show raged on.::

As the flying kick came a'comin', Shou would take a half-step forward with his right, dropping down real low before falling back onto an extended right arm as the first soaring Shadow assailant went overtop of him-- and straight into a rather large wall.

No accident of course. Shou needed flesh on rock contact to alter the terrain, and although he'd put his hand on the ground just now, barefoot he could fight with his fists and his stone at the same time, and those shoeless soles gave him the few extra moments of contact required to shoot that barrier up to temporarily cover his back while he dealed with the immediate assault.

But hey! There were faces to be ruined! Pushing off his right foot, Shouyin would hook across clockwise, extending his left leg and smashing the top of his now rock-layered left foot into the right side of the sweeping Shadow warrior's face.

Following through, the half-golem would hook across with the kick, planting his left foot off to the side as he turned over onto his stomach, placing his left palm onto the ground along with his right while shooting out his right leg in a straight back kick with a conviently stone-layered heel to the final Shadow aiming to punch him. Continuing the rotation, he'd turn right around onto his back and stand up in a stance identical to the one he'd started with; boxing-style, hands up in guard. However many would come around his wall and however many would come straight at him, who gave a s**t.

Don't underestimate a guy who learnt Capoeira by playing Tekken 5.

::From the left, the bottom two attackers from themselves stopped cold. The smash to face let out a splatter of black shards as the foot smashed into the attacks face, while the heel sent the clone reeling from sheer force of motion.

The first attacker though, seemed to be very in surprised by the new wall, as his foot was extended, it hit he wall bent, and he kicked off again aiming to deliver a swift kick to Shou's back, before he could get back into his boxing stance.

Meanwhile...on the defense wall behind Shouyin.

The low kicker, clearly found his path blocked, and stopped his foot just before it impacted the stone, rolling back onto both his feet and leaping up onto top of the wall, but he paused, perched on top.

The flying kick of the second fighter struck the wall, and with a large heft, he kicked up, launching himself onto the edge of the wall as well. While the final attacker, smacked both his hands against the stoney surface.

The girl in her nice viewpoint perch, stirred the air with her finger, and a small crackle was heard, as a series of runes shot up from the walls shadow painting it surface in Lunoc, before it quite literally exploded sending rocky bits raining down on Shou. She honestly hadnt expected to hurt the Half Golem with rocks, but she banking on him not being able to see through the stones, to see the Shadow Clones, attempting to deliver kicks to his chest and head area respectively as they descended.

Oddly, she leanedforward, squinting ever so slightly, as if she had noticed something and wanted to see if it was repeated or not.::

Shouyin may have caught a glimpse of the first rebounding Shadow clone, but unfortunately he had no idea they were that agile, and had actually relied on the impact against the wall to shatter its fragile-seeming shell. So, just as the man was about to stand up, he got booted right back down through the floor, left arm extended.

The "through the floor" bit was entirely of the half-golem's own volition however, the man altering the ground on contact and slipping right through in a very Shadowcat-like manner. As such, all rock explosions and subsequent falling kick strike things would strike air and sidewalk as Shouyin propelled himself back out of the ground hastily, a long stone staff with a sphere resembling a wrecking ball attached to one end now held in both hands. A brief moment's concentration, and said ball would set alight with Shadow flames.

Shou would be in between the kicking and wall destroying cluster of four, and however many of the ten remaining clones were still behind him, facing the former with back to the latter. Left foot would be forward, the wrecking end of the staff held back and to his right with both hands gripping the opposite end. Left hand would be furthest up, gripping about two inches down from the end from overtop, with right hand about a third of the way down, gripping from underneath; both hands were about two feet apart overall.

Hopefully the woman was looking for crushed skulls, 'cause there was about to be a dozen of 'em.

::The three feet impacted the ground with a series of slams, while the final flipped back after a sucessful impact and landed a good 7 feet away. As Shouyin vanished each clone paused waiting for him to return. And return he did, with weapons. A very heavy looking weapon at that.

Strangely, while all the Shadow clones showed zero emotion, the woman herself burst out in nearly uncontrollable laughter.::

Oh my, I cant believe...haahhahaa, that its so simple....hahahahaaa...

::That same maniacal laughter permeated the air, as the clones burst into movement. And odd sort of movement, as half stood still and half took to running at the closest of the still ones. Not only would they run at them, but they would infact run into them. Within a few seconds Shouyin was staring at 6 instead of 12 shadow clones, no bigger before, though something clearly must have changed.

All 6 clones looked at each other and then began their evil attack. 4 ran into formation around the Half Golem, while one placed his hands on the ground staring directly at Shouyin, and the final clone dashed straight at the golem, flicking both his arms down 2 steps into the run ejecting two blades from within his sleaves and aiming to slash right at Shouyin's neck area, the clear goal being to disconnect it entirely.

It was odd, but if someone was looking very closely, no matter where he ran, the shadows of the four still clones were always pointed at the one that was in motion, and his shadow seemed to be strangely missng...odd.::
