The HQ is awesome. He looks just right for the role.

The commander takes some getting used to, especially the helmet, which is a real departure from the normal rank and mass troops. The banner is a tad too gothic for my liking, though I am glad that the amount of symbols and skulls have been kept to a minimum throughout the range.
The two carapace clad bodyguards look imposing however, nicely done and most fitting in their role as bodyguards.

I think he's one of the best models I've seen in the range, and to be honest, the whole range is pretty good. It's got a very imposing theme and feel to it, and it looks like what a German commander might have looked like. I can't think of the name, but he looks like an Albert.
Albert Constantine, Master and Commander of Krieg, Lord of War.
Fitting enough, about I doubt it'd fluffily accurate, as I made it up on the spot. biggrin

Well, the pose for the model is spot on. If I have to choose between Alfred and Usarker Creed, I'd go for Alfred. Imposing? More likely a fatty smoking a cigar after dinner while his flunky does all the hard work.

Lt. Brookman Nuclearwinter Xenos Mortium Holy s**t... baneblades ahoy. And while I admire the dedication to fluff and consistancy, is it really nessecary to give hardened fighters to your heavy weapons teams? not at all, if you wanna stick with the fluff just say they the gunners have lost most of their skill in closecombat from their extended use with their ranged weapons. (and give em sharpshooters) I stick to the fluff, no buts or changes for me. So no, I am not dropping extra Doctrines just to get sharpshooters for some support squads. While I am a big fan of sharpshooters for support squads (my Cadians are great users of that Doctrine, much to the chagrin of others) I am sticking to the GW published Krieg doctrines for now*. If the troops are hardened fighters, then all troops are just that. Same with the die-hards doctrine, if they can have it, they'll get it. Plus well, WS4 guardsmen sound like a waste to some, but I personally welcome the idea. If anything, I'd like the special equipment: carapace armour doctrine in my army, just for the Death Riders, whom are modeled with that strapped on. If you don't get this bit, reread the special equipment section until you do.* That is of course, until I can scrounge up a copy of Imperial Armour 5 - the Siege of the Vraks and build up a proper Krieg siege regiment Planning on getting IA volume 5 sometime soon, I can tell you what you want to know if you haven't gotten it yet.

A.R.G.U.S Mykal Do you not think Kreed is based on Churchill?
-Mykal He's based on Winston Churchill, Zhukov and that asswipe Patton. Both inspiring, brilliant and bombastic. All he needs to do now is get a drinking problem, be disposed by his people after the war and smash his hooting staff car with ugly dog into a tree and the circle is complete. I prefer Macharius, who is based of Alexander the Great. He's in some way the least glaring historical copy of somebody. Maximillian Weissmann is an almost direct copy-paste of Michael Wittmann.

Tha Zhukov looked fair cool to be honest. I think there needs to be a good Russio-Germanic mix army made, kind of like a Krieg/Vostroyan/Commissar mix, where the HQ looks like Albert of Krieg and Zhukov.

Damn, something tells me that my future Krieg army commander will be an Albert something xp Nothing wrong with that name though, my grandfather was also an Albert, so a proper homage might be in order when the time comes.
And remember, FW is going to create at least two more custom Imperial Guard regiments over the coming two to three years. No word as to who as of yet, so it could be super custom as in non-codex or revisions of old GW-dropped-them lines. I'd love to see them do a full line of Tallarn instead of just some support squads, a tank commander and kick a** Mukaali riders.
Or, damned gods forbid, Praetorians. I know I'm not the only one desperate for Victorians in Space!(tm)

They're not that special to me, even as a Brit. They seemed too gimmicky.

Most regiments with storm troopers get their own variants these days. Cadians get their Kasrkin and Krieg troops have their heavy grenadiers. FW isn't doing half-arsed jobs with their Imperial lines, I'd just wish they did the same with their renegade line, which all need Cadian legs and torsos to be used properly.
I just hope that FW will make the future regiments as neat and individualistic as their current line of work. I doubt that the future regiments will top the sheer coolness of the Krieg line, but they can always try.

Of course Im still a fan of the old old plastic Stormtroopers. Seeing a whole regiment done up in a similar style might be quite striking
