LOL I'm so sorry Eris, but those kind of people make me laugh. The kind that tell you how to raise your child and who don't know a damn thing about you.
You know I listen to all sorts of stuff in the car. When Logan was a newborn, we were coming home from the hospital and we were caught in a huge traffic jam and it was hot. What calmed him to sleep? Rammstein.
I do have a set of headphones for his kiddie music for him, but even if he didn't, I don't think he really cares about the "quality" of music.

*sigh* Mom is getting on me again--as she does every twelve hours or so--about why I have the "silly notion" ( stare ) that I could get married in college and (*gasp*!) maybe start a family shortly after I graduate.
Is it really as hard to find a job and get financially on your feet as my mom makes it sound? Billy and I are both hard working, and I'm pretty sure we'd be able to make it.
But every time I talk about getting an apartment instead of using a dorm room in college, she rolls her eyes and groans, as if to say "My lord, you ARE stupid!" and goes on about the outrageously high price of apartments/houses/any other form of lodging beside a dorm room/etc.
I'm really starting to dread dinners (where we are forced to talk and where, unfortunately, we usually end up talking about this) and the very mention of my future. At least around her.
Do any of you live in apartments currently? Is it really so pricey nowadays?
I know there are more questions swimming around in my mind, but for now I've got to empty the dishwasher, take a shower and get to bed.

It's your life honey- and I am all for following your instincts. You want to get married and you know in your heart that you want to commmit to your partner, you go right ahead. You are not stupid to be thinking about this stuff now, at least you aren't living day-to-day hand-to-mouth like many college goers. xd There's a lot of differing opinions on having kids at what age and with what financial situation- ideally we would all love to be able to give our kids everything in the world- but all they need is shelter, food, and your love and time. And you can provide those things on just about any salary. I won't sugar coat it, I mean I am a student and Brad's our bread winner- wink bring that bacon in honey- and sometimes I wish we had more money for luxuries- but we are happy and I know that when I finish my degree that there will be plenty of time for all that stuff. You do what you think is right- and you might start by asking your mum to have more respect for you. She raised you right? So she should put some faith in your ability to decide for yourself.

Theo loves all kinds of musis LOL He's got real rhythm. *snicker* That lady probably only lets her kids listen to Mozart, on a loop. Not that there's anything wrong with Mozart but hey, you have to mix it up a little!!

Ella, well I don't think it's nice of her to call you stupid. At least you are thinking ahead! I mean I know a few people who got married in college and had kids RIGHT after graduating or even before. Heck, I'm SAHM and Tommy's the breadwinner. It was VERY hard the first year but we've managed to come a long way.
It really varies by cost of living where you go. If you're just going to get a studio apartment, you should be okay. It always helps to think in a budget for every month. Here, they have apartment finders to find a place in your budget and needs and it's a free service.
We pay $599 a month for a 2 BD, 1 BTH, that's with a 5% military discount.
It's possible to attain those dreams!

My apt is $632 a month. Rent plus water. 3 bedroom, 1 bath, huge living room, and a great backyard. Conveniently located less than a mile from gate. So I can't really complain.

Ella,
I got married the week before we started classes at the same university. We lived off of campus because a lot of college campuses make married couples out to be pariah (it's like if you're married they KNOW you're having sex and we can't have SEX in the dorms now), but you can find some universities with married housing. For me it took away that stupid aspect of college, that fraternity/sorority drinking, partying trying to find someone to "hook up with" part. I wouldn't have been into it even if I wasn't married but now I didn't even have to give it a second thought. I had someone to help me study and to go to plays and bars and lectures with.
Then, I had my baby right before our senior year, two weeks before starting our senior year actually. And with some planning we were never in class at the same time so we brought Lissa with us to campus and she LIVED with us practically on campus from 8:00 to 8:00 every day. And you'll find that most of your professors will consider you actual adults with the ability to make your own decisions, lots of them already have children and will welcome your child. IF You have babies DURING college, I know you said you wanted to wait. And through all of that, William and I graduated with multiple honors including Magna c** Laude which is grade point honors.
AND because we had a family we were more driven to find work, and though I didn't get the job of my dreams that college promised me (you'll find this out for yourself, those buy your degree programs like Redmond and BCTI and University of Phoenix have killed the job market for degreed individuals) it was easier for me to find work and easier for me to keep it. I know a couple of highschool only grads that can't seem to hang on to work, not because they can't do the work but because there are just a billion highschool kids out there to do the same work. We also live in a high unemployment state and US unemployment is rather high right now as it is.
BUT, It can totally be done, it takes lots more planning but it totally can be done.

Okay I need some dinner ideas. It's my turn to bring my friend dinner. Someone is all ready doing pot roast and spaghetti. I don't want to bring just a fuit salad (she's also all ready had it).
I'm trying to think of things I could make here and would be okay to serve lukewarm or be just as good heated up. That and nothing too big, just enough to feed 4 people.
