"I knew it!" Miyuki literary did a happy jig.

She bounced on her feet hopping around the nekos, she loved Shiro's memory! He did after all give a detail account of where Iorlas was going to be.

"I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew-" she paused part way through.

Which was a strange sight since she was half way through her nth hop when she tilted her head side ways and furrowed her brow.

"Wait a minute!" she put her foot down for a moment and pointed back in the direction of the bakery, "Was that lady then some sort of evil twin or evil clone or something?"

"Were you watching movies when we were in Gaia without telling me?" Lin looked at her daughter.

Lin found movies were okay, but she didn't like the idea of her daughter watching them a lot and not without her knowing what it was about first.

"Only one and grandfather said it was okay, because it was rated G... whatever that means. It wasn't that interesting.... I like talking to animals, I just didn't like to watch the talking animals talk," she shrugged obviously distracted for a moment, "Kaito told me about the evil clones or twins... or whatever... he said it's a cliche..."

It was kind of obvious somewhere along the line, she might not have completely understood what Kaito was talking about.

"Hey, don't blame me," Kaito said, raising his hands defensively. "She was asking about a movie plot Ura and I were talking about, that's all it was!"

"Besides," Shiro said impatiently, "Miyuki is right, it is a cliché, which means that it's quite simply an overdone plot theme. Would it really happen? I doubt it."

He cut himself off suddenly, seeing a very strange look on Earendil's face. "What is it?" he asked cautiously.

Earendil was looking half-stunned, half-thoughtful. "Be careful what you wish for," he murmured, mostly to himself. He looked at Miyuki. "Do you remember when Iorlas asked if she could come with us, and she said she has a twin sister that might or might not come along? You said you wanted to meet her, and Iorlas said 'be careful what you wish for'. Do you remember?"

"Of course! Because she's Iorlas sister and, I bet Iorlas sister is cool and... oh....."

It took a bit longer for her to realize what her ada was getting at because Miyuki had only ever seen one identical set of twins in her life, and they were babies and babies tended to look a lot like each other when related.

"Well she's not nice at all!"

Miyuki thought about it a bit more and suddenly the small things started to make sense and especially how they first met Iorlas.

"Suddenly that kind of explains a few things," Lin murmured, but she frowned when she realized something, "But it also leaves a question or two."

"Questions?" Kaito asked, blinking slowly at Lin.

Earendil frowned. "Why didn't she warn us?" he suggested. "For one."

Lin he was sure would have more questions, she always did have more questions than most others.

"Not just warn," Lin pointed out, "This wasn't the first time her sister has done this, remember the book maker? Iorlas is pretty much taking the blame for what her twin does."

Which worried Lin really, Iorlas would have trouble living among people if she kept protecting her sister like that and really she sort of morbidly wondered what the girl's sister was like if she allowed that to happen to her sister.

"I understand family is family, that is a," she paused to find a cleaner word, "terrible thing to not just steal and destroy other people's property but do it and know your own family is being blamed for it. That's not family. I want to know why she puts up with it."

Earendil nodded. He remembered. The poor girl had been terrified out of her wits ... and he could see now how the man had made the mistake, thinking that Iorlas was her sister. After all, he and Lin and Miyuki had been traveling with her for a week, and had spent time with her before that, and even they hadn't been able to tell the difference between the two women.

"All I can think of is that she must love her sister dearly," he said slowly. "Beyond that ... I have no idea. I know if I had a sibling who was doing that, I sure wouldn't let it keep going. Iorlas is lucky, it's a miracle she hasn't lost a hand yet because of it."

That was the penalty for theft, after all.

Lin signed and scratched her cheek, it looked like they weren't going to be finished looking for Iorlas then.

"Well then we'll have no choice but to get involved because I don't want to see the day that luck runs out."

It would mean having to talk to both sisters then.

"Nor do I," Earendil agreed solemnly. "So Shiro - you said she went off towards the ... where did you say they were going?"

Shiro pointed up the street. "Somewhere this way, at least that's the direction they were headed when we last saw them. But that was a while ago, and it's a small town, they could be on the other side of town by this time."

"It might be easier just to wait at the inn," Kaito spoke up. "You won't walk your legs off, and you know for sure that she's going to end up there sooner or later. I think we were expecting everyone back in an hour or so anyways, meeting up for dinner, just like we did in Tavari."

"That's true," Lin mused thoughtfully.

As much as she wanted to get it all settled as soon as possible, she knew that there was little point to run around when they would meet up with Iorlas later.

"I guess we should just, go back to the inn," she looked up at Earendil, "Unless you want to do something until then."

Earendil shook his head. "With this on my mind, I wouldn't enjoy anything else," he replied.

He held up Andarien, who had finished his cinnamon roll by that time. The boy had cinnamon, sugar and frosting all over his face, from ear to ear, on his nose, chin, and everything; and his hands were just as bad.

"Besides, this little guy needs to be cleaned up so that we don't make a mess in any other shops," he said, trying to sound lighthearted.

"Does this mean a bath?" Miyuki asked.

She was still at the age she liked baths even with all her tails. Of course if did mean a bath it would mean one for Andarien not for her.

Earendil smiled despite himself and started leading them back towards the inn. "I think it would be a good idea," he agreed. "Andarien especially needs one, but none of us have had a bath since we left Tavari, and that was a week ago. There's bound to be a few baths at the inn, if not a bath house somewhere."

He waved to the nekos, who continued on their exploration in the opposite direction of the young family.

"Well since it's been that long...."

Now that Earendil mentioned it that was a long while, especially different when one was use to bathing regularly when living in one spot.

"Maybe we could all take one, besides, someone is going to have to be with Andarien when he baths still anyways."
PostPosted: Mon May 02, 2011 7:58 pm

"Then why don't you bathe with Miyuki, and I can bathe with Andarien, and we'll meet up afterwards?" Earendil suggested.

It would pass the time and they would all be clean. He knew that Miyuki was well able to bathe on her own, but as much as he would like to bathe with Lin, he was sure that there wouldn't be a bath big enough for three people - especially with Lin's wings.

"Yay!"

Miyuki hopped up and down because she was use to taking baths with Mommy and she figured it was completely normal for little girls to take baths with their mommies and the little boys to take baths with their daddies. At least until they were old enough to take baths on their own.

"I guess you were waiting to take on yourself huh?" Lin chuckled.
