Khek is used by Vostroyans and quite liberate by these simple neo-Russkies.

But Catachans and Cadians swear like real people do, so ********, s**t and piss should suffice. Should you go for the "safe for youngsters ears" method, then go with frag at the very least, my Cadians use that term all the time. Along with warp and using the term "the Eye" as a swearing matter.

Funny enough, I don't remember Catachans from the novel Death World swearing at all, they all just had stupid names such as "Lorenzo" and "Patch Armstrong" plus a strong lemming-like desire to die at certain points in the novel to fullfill some human deus ex machina moment.

Probally cause catachans are the most "American" of the imperial guard. Everyone else is either British, Russian, or German. Irish or Scottish for the Tanith 1st and the spacewolves too. (anything else I'm forgetting?)Cadians are "British" guardsmen as well aren't they?

Plus, I'm sure the various cuss words also depends on the author of the books written, and (like you said) probally so that younger kids can get into the game when their parents might still be offened by excessive curse words.

Scotish people are British, as are a percentage of the Irish.
I assume you meant English there?
Yes, I think so.
*Waves flag*

My mistake, I get British and "English" mixed up at times. But you still see my point, yes?

Many people do, I just see it my civic duty to correct.

I do see your point, as well.

Well lets doanother one of these little Run Downs

Valhallan and Vostroyans: Both for these fit into Russian categorys. Vahallans being the Red Army, Vostroyans being Cosacks
Praetorians: English zulu wars era
Tallarns: traditional middle eastern though from limited writings that include them they dont seem to talk very much that way
Atillan: Thse most closely fit with the Mongols
Armageddon and Krieg: German WWI/II sytle uniforms and equipment
Catachans: US vietnam era commandos.
Mordian: Not particularly base of any country that I know of just some snazy dress uniforms.
Cadains: based of most moden soldiers Ive seen bits for US army Rangers to British Royal Marine Commandos
Eylsia: Again these are base off most modern paratrooper forces

Joink!

The Mordians are partially based on the US jarhead (marines) force parade uniform. And the Elysians, while looking modern and high tech, are actually a throw back to WWII airborne operations; ******** of troops being dropped onto a single group of objectives instead of a group of spec ops wankers with "superior" training as is done today.

The Tallarn are pretty much the Middle Eastern people of the 40k universe, extremely religious, but none of the hakbar s**t that those zealous red-white-blue Americans love to stereotype them with. Lucian Soulban, a shitty author known for his ghetto style vampire novels, will write a novel about them for BL. I fear for the reputation of these fine warriors even now.

And seeing as this one hasn't been included yet, the classic GW and FW tank crew designs with the leather crash helmets are based on Soviet tank crew. The Leman Russ is the futuristic counter part of the rugged and reliable T34 and the Chimera is a futuristic copy-paste of the Russian BMP IFV. To spice thigns up, Jes Goodwin's design of a lasgun looked very much alike to the AK47, because Gav Thorpe said that the lasgun is the AK47 of the forty first millennium.

I sadly no longer have the drawing handy in digital form, but instead look at this Necromunda weapons frame:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Top weapon is a M16 copy, but the weapon on the direct left shows similar elements to the AK, especially the barrel and clip design.

I not so sure about those mordians. Ive never seen a marine wearing any kind of shoulder cord. Now the Army Dress Blue uniform which is very similar to that of the marines has shoulder cords. Infantry get a Blue one while no one else get any except for the Frech Foriage.

Wow, calvalry actually works..? I thought they're just a 'one trick' crew? After they use up their lance, they're just fodder/meatshields. Counting they don't get killed before they can use their lance. Credit given for keeping to the fluff, though.

My Krieg army is themed heavily around the fluff and not around building a force designed to be min/mxed into winning. I always theme my armies heavily, my previous army, the Cadian 13th shock regiment, was heavily centered around the Cadian doctrines and the background info given. This made for not just a strong force, but also one with flavour.

+ + +

Mat, are those UK or US release dates?

I think the porrly made sequel to crusade for armegeddon had the ork bunters saying "Frik, Frikken" and so on. Which was realistic I thought, after so long simple slang for freak and freaking become their own words.
Armageddon is based partly on German themes, correct?

I direct you to this.

Ah-ha, tis genius!

Not that Im aware of. Perhaps, but we're talking about ork hunters in a jungle, not the hive born types which I do believe there are some germanic themes.

Ive seen this before, and my problem with it is, Ive studied german for 4 years and know natives, I have yet to hear anyone say frichen as a swear, or anything but to hit. Not even when reffering to hitting something or sexual innuendo. Hell, some germans say ********. It could still be true, but so far I have yet to find anything going that way.

Still was a hunorous video to me before I tried to prove it right.

Any reason for 13 being in both army names?

The Death Korps of Krieg is heavily based on the German WWI and II armies. Plus, I believe "Krieg"means "war" in German. (so in complete english, they're actually called the Death Corps of War, lol it rymes)

13 was part of my old student number, it was my exam number of the year I took exams and graduated and in some twisted way consider it my personal lucky number.
