Maia sighed, looking to the door of the office. "Yeah," she agreed, after a moment. "We'll find one." It might take some doing, but they'd do it. "Thanks," she added, giving Dari a small smile. "I feel a bit better."

"Of course, and don't worry about Kelly. She's a lesbian." Just in case Maia had any doubts still gnawing at her mind.

It was a fine day to wash the cars. Toby didn't like the automated ones because you could come out scratched or still dusty, and the soap at the manual places wasn't worth what they made you pay for it, so he just bought some nice stuff and did it at home.
Of course there were two cars and one hose. Dari had it at the moment, washing the soap from the hood of his car. He didn't care so much about it as Toby did his.
The weather was hot and still, the sun bright. Toby would undoubtedly be coming home with a tan, and that was half of the reason he'd taken his shirt off, the other half being the heat itself.

Maia came outside with a tray of lemonade and cookies. She watched the two agents for a moment, before shaking her head. All this fuss over a dirty car. "I've got lemonade," she said, waving them over. It was a hot day, probably a good day to get wet. Maybe they could go swimming later? Hm, no. But they had a hose.
"I brought cookies too, in case you guys might be hungry."

Ooh, lemonade? Toby looked his car over, decided it was fine for a few seconds, and started toward Maia. He was not expecting the blast of water Dari sent his way from the hose as they crossed paths. Toby laughed and held up his arms to shield himself until the assault ended, then flicked the water from his fingers and shook his head at the alien. He was dripping, pants sagging, abdominal muscles glistening. He smiled and reached out for a lemonade, leaned in to kiss Maia's cheek with a little "thank you", and then ran a hand back through his wet hair and chugged it down.
Ahh, honestly the water felt kind of nice, and Dari looked quite pleased with himself.

Maia watched the attack, grinning and shaking her head. "Well, that's one way to cool off," she said, looking Toby over. Somehow, he was even more attractive when soaked. Huh. "Do you guys want some help?" she asked, looking towards Toby's car.

Toby turned back toward his car, still holding the lemonade and thus leaving one fine bicep flexed. "You can help if you want to, but don't feel like you have to. You can just keep us company if you like." He gave her a winning grin and then finished his lemonade and headed back for his car, passing by Dari and stealing his hose.

Maia thought keeping them company was a grand idea, as long as Dari got the hose again, at some point. She set the tray of cookies down and went to watch. "I was thinking, maybe we could go swimming tomorrow?"

"Sure! We can go to the lake if you want," Toby agreed, rinsing down his car and then leaning over it to begin buffing. The water felt nice, and he felt a little... seductive? It was nice.

"That'd be nice," Maia smiled at him. It was certainly hot enough for a swim. She went over to him, leaning close, and then over the car. "Do you have another one? I'll help."

"Ummm... I don't think so. Dari, do we have another one?" He lifted the buffing pad to show him. Dari looked thoughtful, and then pointed to the pile of things by one of the water buckets.
"There," the alien said, although he had never turned his head. Toby didn't find that strange at all. He smiled and nodded.
"Thanks!" Then to Maia: "If you go grab the other ones of these you can help me wax her down."

Maia went over to the pile of things indicated, selecting a buffing pad. She went to Toby's side. "So now that I have this, we can wax the car?" she asked. And why did the car have a gender?

"Mmhm. Here." He took the wax in one hand and the pad in the other, offered both to Maia, and then stepped up behind her and took her hands in his. "Like this." He guided her through loading the pad with his own hands, and then shuffled closer to the car with her. His hand still over hers, pressed against her back, he showed her how to buff the car properly. "It's not hard. Just like that."

Maia knew Toby only intended to teach her how to buff a car, but she couldn't deny that the feeling of him pressed against her was nice. She smiled and at him and continued to do as shown. "Like this?" she asked.
