Kaiea just sat still, in the small cage, (his?)(hands?) clamped over his ears. The crack of the gun, and the single loud, booming thump from the dragon's tail had echoed down the hallways, magnified many times in his ears. It had felt like his/her head had been splitting open, the dull throb from the sound waves as well as the vibrations taking the place of the cerebrospinal fluid, and blood that would have come out if that had really happened.
