Kyo had woken up long ago but Mao had stopped him from leaving So he was locked in. The door would only open from the outside. When he heard Nathan's voice he sighed. "Whatever. I can't exactly open the door." He assumed the others were with him so he decided to stick to his stubborn ways.

Nathan frowned, wondering why he was locked in and then guessing that Kyo would vanish if he could. So he opened the door and put his head around the door. "Doesn't mean I should come in without asking. But if you don't want to talk to me when I am inside, that's up to you as well." He shrugged. "So, I ask again: can I come in and will you talk with me if I do?"

Kyo sat on the floor with his arms crossed. He really did look like a child. More than he needed to. He rolled his eyes and looked away. "As long as you don't have those animals with you then whatever. You can come in all you want."

Nathan went inside and shut the door with a sigh. "They are not animals. Why do you think that of them?" He sat down with his back against the door, facing Kyo with a similar stance. "Why don't you get on with them at all? I mean, I know they don't get along with each other or you either, but if we're going to live together then you need to at least get along to some extent."

"Living? I'm not living with anyone. I'm waiting for you to make your three wishes so I can get sucked back into the lamp. I can't just hang around and act like I'm like you or them. I'm a genie so I have to always be attached to the lamp."

"What would you do if you could be free? I know of one wish, but I'm not sure about the other two - is it possible to wish you free of the lamp? Isn't being a genie lonely?" He knew he was asking too many questions all at once but that didn't mean he didn't want to know the answers to all of them. He wanted to help Kyo.

Hearing the question about his freedom Kyo stopped and slowly turned to look back at Nathan. His expression had changed a bit though he was unsure of whether Nathan was serious or not. "I... I think so. But... No one would ever wish me free. No one ever wastes that wish on a genie. If they did there would be no genies left." We all wish we could be free. I don't think we should even exist. Being a genie is torture. We've got limitless magic sure but that's nothing compared to being free. And... Only someone who truly wishes for a genie to be free can have the wish come true. It's like... A person can promise a genie to wish them free and do it but if they really don't feel anything special for them then the wish will not be granted. So it's basically a waste of a wish."

Nathan smiled softly at him. "So I ask again: could you maybe try to live with us? You don't have to sleep, eat and drink in that lamp. You can have your own room, some of your favourite foods and maybe we can become friends if you'd like. What do you say? Would you like to live with us?"

"I have to stay with you until you make your three wishes anyway so don't ask when you know I have no choice in the matter. All I want is for you to make those wishes so I can get back to the lamp. Same as always."

"What I meant, Kyo, was that you do have a choice: you can be locked in this room, without a bed or trips anywhere when the lamp doesn't need to be with us. I want you to have a life of some kind. I want to get to know you, whether you stay with us or not."
Nathan shrugged and stood, folding his arms over his chest. "But you just told me something very important: if I don't care for you enough, then the wish will be wasted. If I got my wish and you had nowhere to go, nowhere you wanted to be, whether it's with us or not, then the wish would be wasted. You'd be free but alone, and I don't want you to be alone, nor do I want to waste a wish I might need."
The Angel moved close to Kyo, going to his eye level and watching him. "Do you understand me yet, Kyo?"

Having Nathan so close made Kyo blush. He had never expected the other to come close to him. He got a strange sensation all over his body and wanted to pull away then because he was afraid. "I... It's just that... Why do you even care anyway. You... You like guys right? That's... Are those other guys all with you? You're like... You've got like a damn harem don't you. That's weird... I mean... I'm not going to be..." The thoughts he had now made Kyo blush even more.

Nathan shrugged and smiled at him. "I just told you why I care. Yes I like guys, but I wouldn't expect you to be with me or any of them if you don't want to. Yes, they're all with me - though not the red head, if you met him? Chessy? - and it's still a little strange to me that I love them all in the same way but for different reasons. As for you, I don't need you to be with me that way, but since I need to care for you for such a wish to work..."
He shuffled backwards and then offered his hand with a small grin. "How do you think being friends with me sounds? Not too bad, I hope, since it means you could have a proper room and be free to move around the house whilst I decide on my other two wishes. You could eat with us or in your room - but make sure to bring all dishes out, or else someone will have to come in to get them." He shuddered. "Maggots and flies in the house would be no fun."
Nathan wiggled the fingers of his hand, still waiting for Kyo to shake it. "Friends?"
I would suggest 'little brother', but since things might change between us, that could be too weird!

Kyo's blush did not go away. But listening to Nathan much like the others he found some strange comfort and trust. He knew either way he couldn't refuse so he finally gave in. "Fine. I'll go. But only until you finished making your wishes." Kyo then had a strange realization. More or less he found a comment Nathan mad a bit odd and out of place. "Wait... What about maggots? I mean... Sure I wouldn't want them anywhere around the house and they're gross and all but what's so scary about them? I mean I know how to kill them. They're worms. And flies are just bugs. All you gotta do is smash 'em."

The Angel noted that Kyo hadn't shook his hand as he moved it back to his side, watching the genie's face. "You don't have to stay longer than that. I just don't like them and was making the point that even if you locked your room for months, someone would come in before the maggots appeared." He shrugged. "So long as you bring out dirty dishes and laundry, I expect you to be able to lock your room and not worry about us barging in - excluding emergencies, obviously."
