"...Yeah." He said as he made a little more room for Riza, looking over at her once more before closing his eyes. Huh, a lot had happened in just one day, Crenu never would have imagined that he'd get another chance to take on Team Rocket after that attack back in Azalea Town. Though in truth he only took on some grunts, it still felt like a form of retribution for failing to defeat the Rocket in the past and being shown up by Kilik. It may have been a tad petty, but Crenu still found that the idea annoyed him as one of those things that he'd never be able to undo.

The next thing Crenu remembered was sitting up in the bed, rubbing his eyes with his palms as he gathered his thoughts. No dreams...good. He never really liked dreams for they were irrational and pointless, or at least that was what he told himself. Crenu rarely ever dreamed, and the ones that did come to him were never pleasant. He looked around the room and saw Riza wrapped up in her own blanket sleeping, remembering where he was now. Crenu turned to look outside the window, it was still dark out which was no real surprise. Crenu's watch read 5:30, a little earlier than he usually woke up but not by much. Sighing, Crenu carefully got out of bed so as not to disturb Riza and cracked his back rather loudly, putting on his shorts and making for the bathroom with his tooth brush in hand. After Crenu did his normal morning routine he decided to wash his clothes in one of the convenient washers, Pokecenters really were for the trainer on the go. Makes one wonder where the funding all comes from. With the washer running, Crenu looked at his watch again, 5:50. Perfect time for some training. With that, He put on his shoes and left the center, waving at a sleepy looking Nurse Joy who was getting things set up. The first thing Crenu did when he left the center doors was pull out a cigarette and light it, inhaling deeply before blowing out a fair amount of smoke. Heh, stupid old man, your habit's gonna kill me. Crenu thought with a heavy heart, he only picked up smoking in memory of his dad who was always smoking unless Crenu was around. Stretching a bit as he looked out at the city, he let out Hitmonlee and Poliwhirl to join in. The lit tip of the cigarette glowed eerily in the morning darkness as the sky started to light up in the distant horizon. "Alright you two, lets warm up a bit. Especially you Pilowhirl, you've got to get use to those arms, lets hope you can learn to make good use of them quickly. Follow my lead." And with that, the two pokemon lined up on either side of Crenu, copying him as he stretched, starting with toe touches and moving on to various other stretches. Hitmonlee seemed to be doing them with ease, but Poliwhirl was indeed having a little trouble balancing himself without his tail.

Unlike Crenu, Riza did dream during the night, but they were not so much dreams as nightmares. She awoke several times, but never with more than just a bit of a startle. She kept seeing the faces of those horrible Rockets, the maliciousness in their eyes, the blood-red R's on their chests. She saw them take her Pokemon away time and time again, and each time she could do nothing to stop them. "Don't just sit there, they're going to take your Pokemon away," Crenu's voice echoed, adding to the hopelessness she felt. She awoke from her last nightmare in a cold sweat. She was shaking all over and she'd been crying, though when she sat up and looked around she realized that Crenu was gone. She was a little sad to find that out, but at the same time she was a little relieved. She did not want him to see her crying like that, no way.

She swung her legs over the side of the bed, smoothing out her nightgown as she stood up. It was still dark outside and that made it hard to see. She fumbled around in the dark for her knapsack, quickly opening up the small pocket that held her Blackberry. "Ugh.....its not even six yet," she grumbled, turning it on to have a look at the time. She set her phone on the bedside table and flopped back down on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. She really wanted to crawl back under the covers and go to sleep, but at the same time she knew she'd just have more nightmares. A chill crept down her spine and she decided to chance sleep one more time, but not before releasing her two Pokemon to keep her company.

Felsic reared back his fist and drove it into into the poor Pikachu's stomach. The force behind the attack sent the Pikachu tumbling back, the mouse decorating a nearby trash can with a very lovely dent. "Bakfa!" barked the Typhlosion, daring the tiny mouse to get back up.

This was all super, fantastic, magnificent, excellent even, but Mike had no time to be screwing around. "Alright Felsic, give them a Swift attack. Blast 'em both!" commanded the boy, wanting nothing more than a speedy conclusion.

"Woah, hey!" called the sailor, trying to keep up with Mike's ridiculous pace. "Pikachu, use your dual Thundershock attack!" Both mice stood up, one more sluggish than the other. With a loud "CHUU!" they combined their powers, launching a collective burst of electrical energy, which shot towards Felsic.

The Typhlosion stood his ground, allowing the attack to hit him in the chest. He roared with laughter at the puny display of power, answering with one of his own. A circular pattern of stars materialized before the Volcano Pokemon, and with a ferocious snarl, were sent flying towards the two Pikachu. The Swift attack slammed into the rodents with deadly precision, finishing off the trash can's previous acquaintance.
"And now for the other one," Mike said, slightly calmer than before. "Finish it off with a Flamethrower, burn it to a crisp!"

"Agh! No!" the sailor called out. "Pikachu, uh, Quick Attack out of there!" But it was too late. Felsic's Flamethrower was too strong, and moments later the man was forced to recall his second Pokemon. "You win." He said, walking over to the boy. "Sheesh, you weren't kiddin', kid. I'll tell you a little secret. When you activate the first switch, the next on will be in one of the nearest cans."

Mike recalled Felsic, looking around for any trash cans that looked particularly inviting. "Thanks, now I gotta go." With that, he and his Magby took off to continue their search.

"Alright! First up for me is Weedle!" The man said tossing a poke ball down and out of it appeared a small yellow bug with a horn on both its head and tail. Eraku looked at it not sure what exactly think. Is this guy serious a weedle? Well I bet he probably has some sort of trick up his sleeve.

"Alright Hurricane we'll start off with you." Eraku said looking at his trusty companion. I'll have to advantage on this one. Bug types are always weaker against flying. Hurricane fluttered into the air hovering just above his trainer. "Hurricane use a Gust attack against it!" With the command Hurricane flew up a couple more feet and then swooped down gave and flapped its wings a few feet away from the weedle.

"Quick weedle, use your string shot and slow it down!" The man replied. Just as the gust hit the weedle sending it flying into the air a small silky thread shot out of the weedle which managed to wrap itself around Hurricanes wings making it much harder for the bird to stay airborne. However the weedle which had been sent flying did a somersault in the air and landed on its back looking quite dazed.

With a loud toot the train started moving taking the small amount of early morning passengers to Saffron City. Robin didn't have much time to rest when she felt her leg get nudged. "Huh." She muttered looking over at her two traveling partners.

"You said that you were gunna get us snacks." Jayme said, she had her phone out again and was clicking through something. By her side Sarah just made a noncommittal sound and waved her off.

Hearing that Robin groaned somewhat and waited for a second before getting up. "Stay here please Luffy." She didn't want him to see the food and eat the whole cart. Looking down at the little Aipom Robin just stared at him, he was looking out the windows and didn't even seem to be paying attention to her. Shrugging she stretched before she headed off towards the back of the train. They were near the end just a few carts down.

Meanwhile Luffy watched with fascination as the train started moving, it was so cool! They were going way faster then he could run, he could run pretty fast to. He barely noticed Robin get up from her seat as his face was practically glued to the window. Suddenly an idea came to the Aipom, a brilliant brilliant idea. If it was cool watching through the window, then it would be really cool if he was outside the window! There was no man in the super cool hat to stop him this time either. Grinning slightly and doing a little dance he was about to open the window when he stopped. Hats string had broken earlier so it would probably fly off now.

Plopping down in his seat again Luffy frowned slightly, he couldn't loose Hat. He didn't want to take Hat off either though... This was no good at all. Just as he was about to give up another brilliant idea came to him. He had that cloth from the other day still with him! The one he had pretended to be Solid Snake with! Laughing he danced slightly again before diving into Robin's bag that she had left behind. After a bit of searching he found the cloth again. Using all three hands available to him he tied Hat onto his head with a bow on the top. Now that Hat was secure he was ready to go! Opening up the window he clambered out unhindered.

To the side Sarah and Jayme watched the small pokemon wonder out the window with mild interest. They weren't going to stop him, Robin had said something about him not moving. The two shrugged figuring that if she really didn't want him to leave she would have put him into a pokeball.

Kilik nodded, stopping on the corner of the street. He decided to check himself out. He slowly opened up his shirt and slid his hand onto his shoulder. No, no wounds had been reopened. Still the same bumpy stitches from before. He whistled and Cable lifted up his pant leg a distance, allowing him to examine for anything. "I think I'm fine," he said. A hint of Mazarin and Mike's influence began to overtake him. "Though I think my cheek hurts a bit. Perhaps you could make it feel better." What in GOD'S NAME are you saying, Kilik!?

Even Cable was taken aback. He had never seen Kilik act, say, or even do anything remotely involving a girl or anything of the sort. The plug kick him in the shin, hoping that it would snap him out of it. Stupid humans and their silly emotions.

Tears immediately welled up in his eyes and he bit his lip to keep from saying anything. He closed his eyes, and his entire body tensed up. "Thhhhh" he gulped, "Thanks, Cable. I needed that." Kilik looked down at his Pokemon and gave him a very shaky thumbs up.

Alice gave a yelp as someone wrapped their arm around her shoulders. Looking over she realized it was only Jun, "oh! hi" she smiled.
As she was seated she peered around the dining room at all the guests, one person caught her eye. A kid dressed in baggy clothing an sideways cap was staring at her. It was a little creepy since he he was staring intensely at her, and that his feet didn't touch the ground while sitting on the chair.

Jun's questioning broke the awkward staring. "W-well, I really don't know what I'm going to do really. I was kicked out of my house." She looked nervous, Saying that she was kicked out of the house just sounds bad, "You see, I was living on a breeding ranch with my grandparents until they decided I should be a trainer instead..... I guess." She gave a sigh before the waiter came by, she ordered pancakes for herself and Kadaj who yipped happily.

Something bright yellow caught her eye, that could be..... Then she noticed that strange kid again. He was still staring at her, he rolled a pokeball on the table. This wouldn't end well.....

Sabrina and Whitney smiled to Nina. "Good job," the pink-haired girl commented. "Hah!" Nina laughed, sheepishly, "that was pure luck and nothing more." Reaching for another Pokeball, despite the fact that Mewtwo had just used an Ice-type attack, she felt it was time to send out one of her most reliable Pokemon. "Go, Krystal!" she hollered, throwing the Ultra Ball forward, releasing the majestic blue dragon, who let out a soothing coooo. Whitney took the hint from her sister, and decided it was time to send out one of her own reliable Pokemon. "Miltank, go!" In an explosion of white light, Whitney's faithful Miltank exploded from her Pokeball. It mooed, seeming to be rather indifferent of the threat it faced. Nina grinned at Mewtwo, who gave her a terribly dark look. She knew that no matter how strong any Pokemon was, if enough time had passed, they would expire due to Perish Song. Now, it was just a waiting game. "Krystal! Flamethrower attack, now!" The other girls prepared their Pokemon's attacks as well.
"Miltank, it's time! Defense Curl-Rollout combo!"

"Anastasia, hit it with another Ice Beam!"

Krystal stared down her opponent, taking in a deep breath and rearing her head back, lurching forward a moment or two later and loosing a stream of fire towards her adversary. Simultaneously, Anastasia charged up her own power briefly, shooting another Ice Beam with a powerful whoop! Miltank was last to follow the trend, as she curled herself up into a ball for a moment, tightening her muscles. She waited a moment, and barreled down the field at a breakneck speed. Mewtwo was growing increasingly irritated. Whitney's Miltank? he thought. Seriously? Trainers far and wide speak of that Pokemon's unbridled and nearly unbeatable power... Standing his ground, Mewtwo extended both arms out in front of himself, his eyes darting to the three incoming attacks. Both arms glowing, his eyes began to glow as well; in a swift movement, Mewtwo used his psychic powers to deflect Krystal's Flamethrower at Anastasia, while also redirecting Anastasia's Ice Beam attack toward Krystal. Both Pokemon were struck by essentially friendly fire, each attack strong enough to knock out the Pokemon that it had hit. Miltank, however, was the only untouched fighter; she slammed into Mewtwo with mediocre force and power, as Rollout hadn't been in use long enough to be extremely powerful yet. After her attack ended, Miltank returned to Whitney's side, ready to attack again.

"Tw-moo," Miltank said, indicating just how many turns of consciousness Mewtwo had left.

A short time later Kasiya had finally left the cramped little room and ventured downstairs, knowing exactly what she wanted to do. After getting directions from a nurse on the Pediatrics wing she found her way to the hospital's cafeteria and lounge area, and she was surprised to see that it was rather luxurious in comparison to the ones at the Pokemon Center. I guess I should have know... this is a hospital for people after all. It was quite accommodating for trainers as well, as Kasiya immediately saw a vending machine with some of the more minor Pokemon-related healing times such as Potions, Antidotes and such, as well as a Trading Machine and naturally, several PCs. Kasiya took a deep breath and sat down at the closest one, fumbling over the keys as she tried to enter her information. Three tries later she was finally able to access her Pokemon Storage System, and with shaking hands she somehow managed to swap her party around, feeling incredibly vulnerable after the loss of one of her strongest Pokemon. With six spheres now set in her belt, she felt somewhat better, though her determination to get her Raichu back was stronger than ever. Mai, if you so much as harm a single hair on Shocker's body, you will pay, she thought, clenching a fist.
=-=-=-=-=

"I'm sure Professor Birch would be happy to give you a PokeDex," Jaeshan nodded, clapping the redhead on the back. "I mean, come on! Aside from the Pokemon themselves, a PokeDex is probably one of the most important things for a trainer to have." Jaeshan sighed a bit, scratching the back of his head almost compulsively. He sure is a downer, he thought, frowning a bit. Oh well. He raised an eyebrow and looked over at Keegan. "Today's your birthday?" he asked incredulously, stopping in his tracks. "I had no idea, why didn't you say anything before? We should go somewhere really cool," he went on, blissfully unaware of the fact that he was probably irritating Keegan to the very core. "Though... no offense man, but maybe you should get yourself a change of clothes? You look fresh out of a bar fight or something."
=-=-=-=-=

After arriving back at the base, Mai immediately saw to it that her Typhlosion and Blastoise received treatment for the injuries they'd suffered at the hands of Cynthia's blasted Garchomp. It was safe to say that the Rocket Admin was feeling rather low after that so-called battle, even with the success of their mission to split apart the brat brigade. Once Tanker and Kero had been healed she headed back towards her quarters, the stolen Pokeball still clutched tightly in her right hand. Even Mai didn't know which of her sister's Pokemon she'd acquired, as the girl's over-the-top reaction would have arisen regardless of which one was taken. Mai turned the corner and found herself face-to face with a Rocket underling, who immediately saluted and stood at attention. "Ma'am, we've just received word that all three of the regions' professors are sending out massive amounts of data to be uploaded to trainers' PokeDexes," he said, somewhat shakily. "Requesting permission to intercept transmissions and download the data to the Rocket Database."

Mai nodded, shooting an icy glare at the grunt. "Permission granted," she snapped, placing a hand on her hip. "Shouldn't you have gone to Giovanni about this?"

"H-he's b-b-busy, Ma'am," the grunt replied shakily. "We-we-we as-assume that the d-data we download from Professors Oak, Elm and Birch will be highly useful to our researchers and scientists in learning about the new Pokemon and abilities as brought up by Professor Rowan."

"That is very true. Excellent, this will please Giovanni for certain," Mai said, nodding appreciatively to the grunt. "Continue, and tell the researchers to take everything they learn directly to Giovanni." With that she dismissed the grunt and entered her chambers, slamming the door behind her.

"You get back---" he held up his arms and coughed, waving the Smokescreen out of his face. "Blast it! He got away!" Mazarin stomped his foot and looked over at his Banette. "Some use you were," he mumbled. For once, he actually recalled his Pokemon and clipped the ball back to his belt. If he were to go asking anyone if they saw a lunatic running around, chances are they'd think he were the lunatic. Mazarin explored Vermilion City, weighing his options. There wasn't much he could do. He didn't see Mike fly away on that Charizard of his, and he couldn't have gotten too far. The safest bet is that Mike is still here in Vermilion, he thought. Gulping, Mazarin called up his superior.

"This is Mazarin," he said into his watch when the man appeared, "I've got a bit of a situation. I chased the target to Vermilion, and engaged in battle, the only kind of engagement that I'd ever do. The suspect fled through the use of a Smokescreen. It's needless to say that the target is very dangerous and should be handled like a woman: carefully, but with excessive force when apprehended."

"Very well," Wesker said calmly, ignoring the boy's attempts at humor, "Perhaps I should have issued this job to Alastor or Jill. They're both much more capable than you are." Mazarin's eyes widened and he frowned.

"S-sir!" he pleaded, "I can do this! I know I can! Just..." he scratched the back of his head with his other hand, "It's really hard. I--" he didn't get to finish his sentence before his superior hung up the line. "...I can do it! I know I can!" he clenched his fists. Maybe I should call Alastor. Ask for some advice. He does owe me for all that womanly advice I gave him, even though it didn't work for some reason... With that thought, Mazarin headed down towards the Vermilion Gym.

"What?" was all Mitsu managed to spit out, a confused look covering her face. What, what was he suggesting? Oh, of course! she thought after a moment or two. The confused look on her face slowly transforming into understanding. Even though it makes no sense. He just told me not to heal him, well, anyone. "Boys are confusing," she mumbled to herself. Her eyes were locked on the floor as she kicked a stray stone off the edge of the path. She'd heard that the boat was leaving for Sinnoh from this city, but not much else. She'd missed the seminar thanks to her careless idling. "Do you know when the boat leaves? And if we're supposed to do anything before hand? I kind of missed the actual seminar," Mitsu said scratching her head slightly, a sheepish look on her face.

But before she could get her answer the two trainers were promptly assaulted them with a battle challenge. "Hey! You there! You and your boyfriend! We challenge you to a battle!" Another couple. This time the girl sported a pair of brown pigtails and a white dress while the boy wore a casual suit, well as casual as a suit could possibly get. No doubt they had some money running in their families. "I'll choose you! Roselia!" the girl called out, skipping introductions all together. Clearly she was the ditzy one. "Go Sealeo!" the boy followed, a seal like Pokemon appearing along side the miniature rose Pokemon. "By the way, we're Lily and Corey!"

"Wait!" Mitsu cried holding her two hands up. "Augh, fine!" She threw a Pokeball out, "Zypher!" The cheeky Pidgeotto morphed into shape from the red beam, a squawk signaling his entrance. And what was up these boyfriend/girlfriend comments?!

Mary-Anne continued to stroll along, not particularly thinking much of it when she passed the northern limits of the city. In fact, she hardly noticed, having been lost in her rambling thoughts that stretched from musings of her future to irrelevant things like how grass was a plant, and wasn't it sad to it that people walked all over it? This tall grass business, along with her sudden sympathy for the beat down green weeds, made trekking through somewhat uncomfortable, and so she avoided it for the more worn down paths. Thus she and her little crew saw relatively few Pokemon.

Some subconscious part of her realized that these were wide open spaces here (despite her never realizing she left Slateport, somehow), and so she figured that hey, Tora might like some exercise and fresh air. The Donphan materialized at her side with a flash of light, and Diego was glad to see the tank of an elephant. With some effort, he climbed up the Pokemon's side and sat down on his luxurious seat with his sketchbook, deciding to draw what he saw. Tora, too, was invigorated by the nice sea-side air, away from the tension in Slateport. She chased after the wild Wingull she saw like an overeager, snorting with laughter when she was able to sneak up on them. Diego somehow maintained his utter composure despite his ride's bucking, and still managed to draw rather decently. Ulani, meanwhile, couldn't stay gloomy long, and although she did not forget her shame, she didn't see the point of moping around on such a lovely, sunny day! She would have liked to battle one of those Wingull they kept seeing, just to prove to herself and M.A. that she was stronger than she ... was?, but Tora scared them all away.

Above them ran a huge elevated road, and M.A. could vaguely distinguish high speed helmets flying by. How fascinating, she thought with childish awe at the world. She couldn't tell if they were on motorcycles or bikes or mopeds for all she knew, but it was nice to muse about it for a little while.

A queer little building with black-tinted windows appeared before her at a T-intersection in the route. "What's that?" M.A. pondered, stopping in front of the little house. Something was very intriguing about it. She was about to peek in the door, possibly invading someone's personal privacy, but Diego stopped her. "Eye haf seen thees in de movies b4," Diego wrote in the air. "Venden cosas malas allí!"

"No... understand-o?" M.A. offered, a poor excuse for Spanish.

"Dey sell bad tings," Diego wrote gravely.

"Like what? In there?" M.A. whispered, backing up from the house now, eyes wide.

"Sí. Como... you know," Diego answered, standing up on Tora and very slowly and rhytmically thrusting his hips three or four times with the composition of an elderly man. It was more of a nonchalant twirking than anything, and but M.A. gasped and covered her mouth.

"I see," M.A. nodded, just as grave now. "'Kay then, we gotta pick a direction. Left, right?" They flipped a coin that Diego painted for them, heads being right, and right it was.

As Robin walked through the cars on the trains she was on her second one before she heard a loud thump coming from somewhere near the front. Looking towards it for a second she blinked a few times before shrugging and turning back. She was on the last cart where the snack lady should be, but she was no where to be seen. The last car was empty except for the tray that held all the food. Frowning she placed her hands on her hips and wondered what she would do. She didn't want to disappoint the other two, she might loose her two friends if she didn't get snacks for them. After a moment she came up with an idea, she would just take some stuff and leave the money to pay for it. "Yes that will work!" She exclaimed happily.

While Robin was getting the snacks for the other two Luffy was easily clambering up onto the top of the train. Since he was so agile he made it up onto the top with a few acrobatics he had picked up from Raz. Now that he was on the top feeling the wind blow through his fur he couldn't help but jump around. It was so cool! Luffy knew right away that he had to be on the front of the train! That was where all the cool stuff happened. Laughing he started to run across the top of the train using his various limbs to hold onto things as he ran around flipping around and spinning in joy.

Just as Luffy was doing a summer salt in the air he crashed into something. Squawking loudly he fell back a few times only just managing to grab onto the rail before falling off. Pulling himself forward and back to a secure position on the train he looked to see what he had bumped into. There on top of the train were two men in all black with big black jackets on them. The one he had hit was groaning and rubbing his back.

"What the hell hit me?!" The man cursed angrily looking around. He unlike Luffy had himself secured with some rope.

His partner turned to him and gave him a strange look before shaking his head. "What the hell are you talking about man? Nothing up here to hit you other then some flying pokemon. Doubt that you got hit by some damn flying pokemon."

"Hey man! I know I got hit by something!"

"Shut up, this train doesn't have a lot of people on it but it that is why we are raiding this one. We gotta create some chaos. Orders from the boss ya know. Now shut your mouth and help me get to the front of the train."
PostPosted: Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:41 pm

Going through all the stuff Robin wasn't sure what to pick out so she just selected a variety of things for them hoping that they could find something at least. Robin didn't notice someone entering the room behind her until they cleared there throat. Jumping in surprise Robin almost knocked over the whole tray table. "Gah!" She yelped and glanced back surprised. There behind her stood man who was looking at her curiously. "Ummm yes?" She managed to gulp out.

The man just gave her a strange look before he asked her curiously. "Can I get something from the cart?"

Robin glanced back at the cart for a second before looking back at the man. She wasn't sure what to do, he might accuse her of stealing if she said she didn't own the cart. She wasn't stealing! She was going to pay she was sure. 'No, nononono! I don't want to be accused of stealing!' "Yes! Yes you can get something!"

"Oh ok, umm lets see." The man smiled at her and came over to inspect the carts wares. Unknown to him Robin was nearly shaking where she was standing.

Luffy watched the two men with wide curious eyes. These men were going to try to rob the train! That wasn't good! Luffy knew then what he had to do. He had to stop this train raid as soon as he could. Nodding to himself Luffy climbed on the side of the train using the windows and various groves that were on the train. Inside one of the little kids waved at him and Luffy just smiled back. He loved little kids and he wished he could play with them... He still had a train to save!

Nodding to himself Luffy made his way to the front of the cart they were on. Peaking out over the top again he caught sight of the two who were still arguing for some reason. Weren't they supposed to be raiding the train? Why were they fighting amongst them selves?

"Look all I am saying is that Charizard is the most versitile of all the starters?"

"Man you must be tripping so hard right now! Charizard may fly but that doesn't make him the best starter!"

"I never said he was, damn do you even listen to what I say?"

~~~~~~~~~
Suddenly a Pidgeot screeched and flew down landing in the streets in front of Jaeshan and Keegan. It wasn't the most powerful looking Pidgeot, in fact it looked newly evolved. The large flying pokemon shifted a bit on his feet before reaching back to pull something from behind. When he looked forward again there was a nicely wrapped green box held by some strings in its beak. There was also a letter attached to it that had in a bold print "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
There were only two more trainers in the Gym before Surge, but thankfully they were both spread out far enough that Mike would only have to pick one. "Alright Napalm," he knelt down. "I'm going to go clear out that one trainer over there. You try to see if you can get that fence disconnected." The Magby balled his fists and nodded, the boy smiling at his Pokemon's determination. "Okay, let's go." The two separated, Mike running towards the man in the hard hat, while Napalm headed off to search more cans.
"Hey you!" the boy called to the industrious looking man, who looked up from tinkering with a few wires. He lifted his hard hat to get a better look before standing up.
"Hello there!" he called out. "You just caught me workin' on some live wires. Nasty stuff. You here for the Gym challenge?" He asked mostly for formality's sake. He could see the Pokeballs on the kids belt, and that eager look in his eye.
"Yeah, yeah." said Mike, waving his hand impatiently. "I'm here to battle, so let's get on with it." He practically smashed Shiver's Pokeball to the ground, releasing the now somewhat tired Cloyster.
The engineer frowned slightly, not appreciating his challenger's tone. "Hmph, well then. A water type, this'll be over soon." Digging through his toolbox, he pulled out a greasy looking Pokeball and tossed it out. With a blast of white light, a Voltorb was released. It shook in place, glaring at its new foe.
"Hit it with an Ice Beam!" Mike commanded, pointing towards the Ball Pokemon. After taking a second to catch its breath, the bivalve charged the tip of his horn with cold energy and blasted it towards the Voltorb. It tried to roll out of the way, but was clipped on the side, sending the Pokemon spinning. It picked up speed thanks to its perfectly spherical body and crashed into a nearby can.
About thirty feet away, Napalm was going from row to row checking each can for that blinking red light. Much to the Live Coal Pokemon's annoyance, the cans were just tall enough so he had to climb up to see inside. This frustration, coupled with the occasional bit of trash obscuring the bottom, lead to many of the cans to be charred by an angry Magby's Ember when his efforts of sifting through the garbage proved totally useless. Stupid damn stubby arms and legs. He had better evolve soon; this diminutive stature was really starting to get old. But he wouldn't let this get him down! He was chosen for a very important task. Stubby limbs or not, he'd find these buttons!
After a few minutes of frantic searching, Napalm saw a faint red light blinking from under a bunch of paper trash. Thankfully, paper burned great. One blast of flames later, the switch was unobstructed. Granted, it was all black and smoldering, but beggars can't be choosers right? With a victorious honk, he leaned in an slapped the bottom. One down. He remembered the big man saying something about the next button being really close. Sweet, that'd make things easier. He just had to make sure it was the right one before hitting it.
