"All right. Let's go then," the girl said. "Just hold your torch in front of Slugma and he'll give it a light."
She then picked up the rest of Ky's sticks, handing them to him. Ky took them from her with a noticable force due to his anger.
The girl just laughed and ruffled his hair. "You're cute," she said smiling. She then proceeded towards the cave, her Slugma waiting patiently for Crenu and Ky to light their torches. Ky stood still for a moment, blushing from what the girl said.

"Right, just a sec. ky, you got any extra rags? Never mind." Crenu reached into his bag and pulled out a shirt. He riped it into a long robbon and began wrapping it around the stick until there was a big ball of cloth on one end with a bit of cloth hanging down from it. Holding it up to the Slugma, Crenu grinned as it blew flames onto the dangling cloth and he twirled it up, connecting it to the rest of the ball which soon caught fire. "I'm using one of your shirts next time ky." He looked at Ky seriously, then smiled, walking into the cave.

When Ky saw how large the flame got on Crenu's torch, he looked at his sticks and threw them aside, realizing it was pointless. "Well, if that's the case, I hope there isn't a next time," Ky said, laughing. He watched as the Slugma returned to his trainer and began to follow Crenu. Once inside the cave, it was a little difficult to see, but the torch did show the wind-carved sides of the cave, as well as the stalagmites near the ground. The girl looked back, noticing Ky's interest in the cave. She grinned.
"Slugma, blow an Ember into the air!" she called. Her Slugma obeyed, blowing many small flames into the air, the light giving a spectacular view of the cave. Ky's jaw dropped.
"Wow," he uttered.

As Toph walked out of the pokemon center Edge faithfully by her side she felt around the area. After a moment she felt what she assumed to be trainers and pokemon. Heading off in that direction Toph passed by a trainer who had made to follow her but spotting the Boulder Badge let her pass through, not that Toph knew that. On this route there were plenty of trainers, most though were in battles the cries of pokemon filling up the area as they attacked each other. Even though she had just got out of a gym battle all the battling around them was getting Edge and her excited. Unfortunatly for them most people were all ready in a battle or just resting. Getting fed up with this both of them wanting a battle Toph grabbed some kid who walking by them. "Hey kid you a pokemon trainer?" She asked not even looking at him her 'gaze' straight ahead.
The kid looked a little suprised at being grabbed all of a sudden. "Umm... yes I.... am?" He said some what shy when he noticed that the person who grabbed him was a girl, who was kinda pretty even if she was a bit creepy.
A grin appeared on Toph's face as she still stared straight ahead. "Good then we are going to have a battle then. Get ready then!" She said pushing him away and moving away to give room for their pokemon to battle. Edge eager to show that he was powerful as well stayed where he was. Standing on his hind legs, he had taken to walking like humans, he crossed his clawed arms over his furry chest waiting for the kid to send out his pokemon.
"Umm... uhhh... o-ok." The kid stuttered as he pulled out his own pokeball. "Go Pinser." He said a bit unsure of himself. Upon being released the big bug pokemon popped out and gave them a fierce look. Toph couldn't see it so she wasn't intimidated, Edge was trained not to be intimidated and stood his ground.

Crenu looked back and noticed Ky's reaction and smiled. "You're such a kid Ky. I take it you dont get out much huh." He looked at the beautiful embers and continued though the cave. As the walked, he saw numerous pokemon that made the cave their home. Everything from Zubat fluttering around to Geodudes grouped together near the walls. "A real wonder, this world of ours..."

The Beauty across from Dante curse slightly at being hit with the Confuse Ray. "Yeah well that isn't gaurentied to work now! Tangela use your Vine Whip attack!" The small pokemon paused for a moment unsure what to do. FInally Vines came out slowly and lashed out at one of the Kenny's. Unfortunatly for it that wasn't the real Kenny, the copy disappeared upon being struck though.
Dante smirked slightly upon seeing that his pokemon hadn't actually been hit. "All right Kenny use your Ice Beam attack." He ordered deciding to finnally take the offensive. The small little ghost and its clones nodded. Holding their ghostly little hands together they all started to form Ice Beams, though only one was real. Once it was ready the ghost took aim and fired at the Tangela that was ingrained where it was so the attack did hit. Even though the attack was its weakness Kenny's Special Attack wasn't the highest so it didn't do the damage it had the potential to make.
"Oh no Tangela!" She cried as she watched her pokemon get hit. Immediatly the ground began to heal the viney pokemon slowly the Ingrain preformed earlier kicking in and doing its job.

Several times now, Keegan had seen other trainers cringe at Loki's presence. But this small girl stood her ground, completely unflinching. The Ivysaur, although shaken, also held its place, looking up at the large cobra, the leaves unfurling from the bulb on its back twitching slightly. Keegan glanced over Nora's shoulder, noting that Dante had also gotten himself into a battle.
"So much for stealth," he chuckled. "Poison Sting, Loki!"
The Arbok reared up, opening his fanged mouth and firing a barrage of pin-like needles at the grass Pokemon. Where normally the attack would have done extra damage, the fact that Ivysaur was also part poison type helped to boost its resistance. In turn, the plant Pokemon pawed the ground before it rushed forward, slamming its body into Loki with a fairly decent Tackle attack.

As Ky looked around, the light faded as he fell behind. Worried about the dark, he hurried back over to Crenu. He caught up and looked around at the new Pokemon. "I was born in a city and moved to a city. Other than going fishing with my friends, I've never really gotten a chance to enjoy the places outside of the city. The farthest I've ever been from home was that one time I went with my dad on a cruise ship, but that doesn't really compare to seeing stuff like this," Ky said.

"No...no it doesn't. Back when I was younger, my father went all over the world. Every now and then he would take me with him, we would go into caves and forests, the ocean, all sorts f places... but hat was long ago..." They had been walking for quite some time now, and the torch was coming to it's end as the flame burned with less intensity. "We should be nearing the end of Union cave."

The girl was about to speak, but instead looked back at Crenu, her tongue tied. "You sure do know this place well," she stated. "It won't be much longer."
Ky thought of questions he could ask Crenu, but he didn't ask, noticing the way Crenu had said 'but that was long ago...' Instead, he continued to follow, feeling a little bit of sadness when he heard they were leaving the cave soon.
"Be careful on those ledges over there," the girl said, pointing. "It's easy to get excited if you know the exit is there, but they are very damp and slippery. Make sure you go down very slowly."

"Yeah, I made that mistake once. I ran right off a cliff thinking the opening to the cave I was in was the right exit. But my dad saved y with his Venasaur... Anyway, don't lose your head when you see the light Ky." he looked at the girl, then back at the path in front of them. "It seems you know this cave a little better than I do. I just guessed we were close by scaling up the one on the map."

The girl sighed. "I've been through this cave many times," she said. "I really should get going if I want to be a good Pokemon coordinator, but this cave is so close to home and everytime I walk through it, I just want to see it one more time." She smiled. "Also, when I see new trainers, I want to make sure they get through the cave safely. There are so many dangerous things in here, I feel obligated to guide trainers that I meet. Leaving them to fend for themselves seems so selfish when the knowledge is right here," she said, pointing to her head. She then looked at Ky and grinned evily. "Also, I love to scare the young ones with my Slugma."
Ky deeply resented that comment. Angry again, he stormed ahead, leaving the lead of the others. He crossed his arms and looked down as the words came back to his mind: twerp, shrimp, young one. 'Am I too young or something?' Ky thought, losing his attention to the surroundings. Not too long after, he felt a hand grab his shoulder, pulling him back. A little frustrated, he stopped to wait for the torch to get closer. When it did, Ky gulped. At his feet stood the edge of a cliff, one leading far down at a steep decline, many rocks jutting out from its sides. Ky turned around to see the girl panting, having grabbed him at the last second.
After catching her breath, she smiled when she saw the look in Ky's eyes. "You have to be careful," she said again. "Now, let's go down together, okay?" After that, she grabbed his hand, holding it tightly. Crenu came shortly after, and having seen Ky, a look of relief passed his face.
After seeing the cliff, Ky had fear pouring through him, thinking of falling and hitting the rocks he saw, imagining how he'd have ended up afterwards. Had the girl not have held his hand, Ky probably would've sobbed thinking of such things. Her smile though was much more than enough to pull him out of it, and together, they climbed down, giving each step as much time as it was comfortable to give.
The exit to the cave wasn't too far from the cliff, as the girl had said. It was much wider than the entrance, the outside light reaching inside, warming the trainers.
"Thanks, um..." Crenu said.
"My name's Jessica," the girl said. She then looked to Ky.
Ky looked back. "Thanks a lot Jessica," Ky said. "Thanks for..." Ky looked down to see that he was still holding her hand, causing him to let her hand go abruptly, his face turning red.
"Haha, you're too cute!" she said again, ruffling Ky's hair some more. "If you guys need help getting through the cave again, you can probably find me here. If not, you can ask Nurse Joy about me, and she'll point you to where I live. I hope you enjoy Azalea Town!"
After saying their goodbyes, Crenu and Ky headed towards Azalea Town. Ky, after going through the experience in the cave, kept silent. Homesickness was starting to creep into his heart.

Trusting M.A's brilliant sense of direction, she might've gotten lost several times in the not-very-long-nor-complicated Rusturf Tunnel if not for a few helpful trainers on the route. They pointed her off in the quickest way to Rustboro.
Whismur overpopulated the trainers there by far, however; they scuttled around, though none appeared long enough for Daemyn to engage it in a battle. Those silly Pokemon would dance about, but before he could as much as turn around, they had disappeared in the array of rocks and what not. So, as Ulani twittered about amusedly in this new environment, Daemyn muttered to himself grumpily.
A moment later, he shivered just a bit. It was colder here in this low part of the tunnel; looking for comfort, he nudged M.A. roughly, looking up with the tiniest hint of pleading in his small, usually hard eyes. "Oh, Daemyn," she laughed softly, scooping him up in her arms and holding him close to her, feeling his warmth and him feeling hers. For fear of Ulani wandering off too much and disappearing into the shadows, M.A. also recalled her.
Eventually, they came to a fork in the path -- which way was right? "Huh, which way?" she asked aloud to herself, turning from one to the other.
"Battle me and I'll help out. Plus, my Pokemon will probably be a welcome change from all those lousy Whismurs," a likeable voice called from behind.

A pleasant-faced girl showed up from behind her, perhaps a year or so younger than M.A. (who had just turned fifteen, for the record). "C'mon, how 'bout it?" she smiled, pulling out a Pokeball. "Two-on-two."
"S-sure!" M.A. stuttered a bit, surprised a bit but smiling broadly.
"Alright, let's go!" the opposite trainer said, grinning. In an artful move, she cast forth her Pokemon in a flash of lights, revealing a contented-looking, raccoon-like Pokemon with striped brown and offwhite fur. "It's all you, Zoom," the trainer called out cheerily. "Zigzazig!" the Zigzazoon cried, ready to take on anything as amiably as you please.
"'Kay, I choose you, 'Lani!" M.A. rebutted, pulling out the small Pokeball and popping it to real size before tossing it on to the field gently. The blue bird sung sweetly, before taking interest in the Pokemon before her and cocking her little head curiously.
"Wait a bit, let 'Lani go first, 'kay?" she whispered to the puppy wriggling impatiently in her arms. He quelled and quieted down, looking forward to watching the Swablu -- though it might've been strange for him, he was curious as to how that pesky little cotton ball would do.

"Zoom, start if off with a tackle," the trainer commanded, still smiling.
Ulani looked confused as the fast little Pokemon charged towards her. Why was he attacking? She hadn't done anything. "'Lani, it's a battle! Dodge that, quick," M.A. called out swiftly, panicking a bit. The Swablu obeyed immediately, narrowly dodging by floating a few inches higher. Understanding the situation, she chirped back to her master, as if saying, 'I got it now! Don't worry.'
"Zoom, take the chance for a headbutt!" The Zigzazoon took advantage of the Swablu being so close, landing a heavy headbutt right into her. M.A. cringed as the little blue bird swung backwards, crying painfully.
"Turn it around, Astonish!" she called out, hoping for a good hit; the Swablu suddenly appeared behind the Zigzazoon, shoving it.
But it had no effect other than sending it a step forward. "You do know that's a ghost-type move, right? It won't work against a normal type," the girl trainer said, shaking her head a bit.
M.A. groaned inwardly, watching as the Zigzazoon landed another Tackle. Ooops.
Swablu looked a bit shaky, but eager to go on. Mary-Anne was the one who froze up, though; Daemyn, realizing this, semi-gently bit her on her finger. "Right, right," she said aloud, shaking it off. I just gotta use my head more, that's all! I won't let her down. "'Lani, go up! Slam it with Peck!"
Floating higher, she suddenly spiraled downwards, using gravity and momentum to boost her speed. Bam, her little white beak and body struck the Zigzazoon squarely before flying up again. It was a critical hit, as the Zigzazoon stumbled backwards dizzily, falling over itself. Ulani saw the oppurtunity and struck the Pokemon again with her sharp little beak.
Zoom's trainer didn't look ruffled, though. "Time to strike that bird down, Zoom! Thunderbolt!"
Thunderbolt?! M.A. gasped, astonished. How would a normal type learn that? "'Lani, get outta there fast!" she cried, but it was too late; the bolt of electricity that somehow generated from Zoom's body hit the bird squarely, sending in a super-effective hit. She crashed to the floor, struggling to get up and wobbling feebly.
"You look surprised. Zoom learned that from a TM -- through TMs and HMs, Pokemon can learn moves they usually don't. Since you seem new to this, it'll be good to know that HMs are good out of battle, too; hey, if you beat me, I'll have one of my Pokemon use the HM Cut to clear the way to Rustboro, to, if you'd like," the trainer smiled, still amiable.
"Oh! Thanks," she said, smiling weakly. "It's okay, Ulani. . . That's enough," she said, recalling her. "Good job. And, sorry. . . I'll do better next time," she whispered to the PokeBall.
Daemyn hopped off, barking. He glanced back, as if to say, 'Don'tcha worry. This'll be done with before you know it.'
