Just picked that up. Now I'm just trying to power through the Campaign of DoWII before it unlocks on my Steam.
...And I've hit the brick wall called the Avatar and the Warboss. Anyone got some advice to take them on? New computer is rocking on graphics, too. >>

The Avatar cannot climb stairs, just so you know. Warboss... Keep retreating to the beacon when your squads start failing, then go back at him.

Jason Kharo The Avatar cannot climb stairs, just so you know. Warboss... Keep retreating to the beacon when your squads start failing, then go back at him. Rather, he can't climb all the way up the stairs. And he has a hell of a ranged attack.

So, for the Avatar, outrange/take the stairs over him (and the near-by beacon will be a life saver), and for the Warboss, pick where to fight, namely, near the beacon.

Liberi Glacialis So, for the Avatar, outrange/take the stairs over him (and the near-by beacon will be a life saver), and for the Warboss, pick where to fight, namely, near the beacon. The Avatar fight is weird. I went into it with Cyrus kitted with a Sniper, Avitus in terminator armor with a cyclone rack, and a jump pack Commander with a thunder hammer. Can't remember how I had Tarkus kitted. Probably with grenades. ANYWAY, I used the scouts and burned every sniper shot they could get on the Avatar. Then I burned all of my Terminator missile salvos on it. And then...I prayed. Burned a bunch of artillery strikes, lots of invulnerabilities, etc. I did it pretty poorly, too, but I got through it. -=Edit Also, a few times the Avatar was able to hit me on the stairs leading up toward it from the beacon. It's range is painful and ridiculous at times.

Chaos Rising came in today for me. Since I'm sick, my grandma's out picking up my reserved copy. Will post back later with screenies after I get a chance to play a bit.

I love the Fire storm over Kronus mod for DC, it makes the game closer to codex with new units, abilities, and violence > biggrin

maui, watch out. Chaos Rising is more challenging then DoW II. They added in decent Heavy Infantry, swapped around and added in new objectives, and make you choose who's coming and who's staying on missions, as 5 squads can be taken on most missions but only 4 fit in the drop pod. Some spoilers down below in white. I've made it a few missions in while trying to avoid Corruption on most of my squads. Most.
Chaos Marine armor rivals your own, meaning, among other things, they can take a grenade to the face while garrisoned. Corruption and Redemption objectives are in play. Corruption Objectives (like blowing up Angel's Gate) are easy, but have lasting repercussions down the line it seems. Redemption Objectives (Claim a cache of Chapter Artifacts near the Astronomical Array) are a complete pain to pull off, but reduce corruption and probably grant other bonuses like Wargear. Plus, Librarian kicks a**, and you'll want to take him as well as whomever you normally take. If for no other reason, then the damn Tome of Time.

Well you could only take 4 squads with you the last time too, and I always brought good ol' Davian with me. :]

Ah, captain Thule, I really enjoy his assault cannon barrage, so no multi-melta for me. So far the game is enjoyable and the different missions are good, the whole corruption thing is a bit odd here and there though, some squads just get it for no apparent reason, even when I do the right things to the letter.

Have you been letting the side missions expire? Great way to gain corruption if you want them there Chaos abilities Only that ininal burst of Corruption caught me off guard. All the rest made sense.

I played a mission with two boss battles in a row, spent twenty minutes whittling away the life of the second boss, I got the end of the mission banter and then, the ******** game craps out on me, forcing me to go through that ordeal a second time.

It is also in need of major patchage. Game has crashed 5 times since I started playing (all of which were during campaign) and graphical errors made me have to disable anti-aliasing. Some pathing errors here and there (dreadnought being able to walk up a wall) are also in need of patching. So far I think I've only played 3 campaign missions due to the sheer level of crashing. I have played various skirmishes though and is it just me or is the chaos lord severely underpowered?
