Nice lists! I'm in the Pacific NW myself (SW of Portland) and just love it here. Colorado Springs is also a beautiful area. Good luck on your search for a good place to safely land.

I am okay with most of the cities and towns in the souther half of coastal Oregon. If California was not a lost cause, I'd probably want to go to Monterey.

Was recently reminded of Gaia, and came back to check back in. I'm glad to see it's still here. ^-^

Yess, I am around for a bit at least, gaia fills me with nostalgia. ^-^

Though a bit has changed, I take it the economy collapsed after they did the gold loot boxes? xD

Oh shoot, may you get through these things with ease.

I linger because I am riding it into oblivion I think. My first account was made about a month after it launched, so I am probably obligated to stay until it crashes and burns — if only to shake my fist at Lanzer and b***h about basic economics as only a nearly-gen-x millennial can muster — maximum over-crotchety. rofl

Collapsed and restructured a few times. It got so bad that there are rumors they are going to do another currency modification beyond platinum.

Gaia seems to be hellbent on not making as much money as they could. I think they are just too proud to admit that even after the old guard came back and started fixing things, some of the decisions made were mistakes and that they are locked into short-term planning. They are constantly operating 3 to 4 months out, when back when I joined, they planned 15 months out. So much so that they started gaia workshop where people have to basically kickstarter gaiacash to fund and direct often basic site upgrades and maintenance.

I hope I can.

I don't really want to vent and lay my likely-invalid neuroses on a nigh-stranger, so I will spare you that. sweatdrop

From the sound of it they might benefit from hiring you on as a consultant ^-^

Fair enough, we shall save such talk for if we get to know each other better. ^-^

Nah, it is basic economics level they are avoiding in places. They do not need to hire me for something they should have learned in middle school. Not that I have not actually offered/applied multiple times.

For instance, many of the RIGs are priced at a premium while the division point of the content is lower than that.

So they sell an item for upwards of $2.50, most people consider what they will get has a likely value of 45¢. Adjusted for the average with the highest value items, it comes out to $1.22. If they just did away with the RIGs, priced the items as tiers directly from 25¢ to $5.00, they would immediately stand to increase profits to 187% of what they currently are. And then that amount would likely climb to just past 260% within the quarter. People prefer actually buying the exact item they want for a fair price amazingly.

Also, it's a virtual item, so the more units they sell, even for far less money, they will earn more. Creation, coding, implementation are one time costs for almost every item, then the server load for each item is a fraction of a cent that actually lowers as more people have it because of instancing.

But they are fixated on the gambling and high price per unit models which is a silicon valley mindset in general. When you do not know if the company will be around in six months, you try to get as much as you can per unit right now.

And sorry if that came off snippish, I just don't want to burden.

Having anxiety and panic problems so severe I've been having blackout and a few times passed out and hurt myself on the way down. Not being able to get help because they want to do everything online or over phone due to covid but my old a** computer won't support video calls and my hearing problems won't allow the use of phones.
Extreme, constant noise.
I am dealing with computer problems and not being able to get one that suits my needs at all.
Dealing with crises regarding applications and activities that I have used for decades and realizing I am very good at them but might not have ever liked doing any of those things, so maybe I have wasted a huge chunk of my life occupying time instead of pursuing good.
Dealing with a lot of my friendships souring and getting toxic. Especially with covid and protests bringing out the worst in so many of them — fear and/or hate, lots of genocidal racism and calls for tyrannical overreach.
Dealing with the realization that I might not want my best friend of nearly 20 years in my life anymore and losing my sister too as she married him and had kids.
Dealing with how my boyfriend sort of just avoids acknowledging my problems if he does not have an easy fix for them.
Dealing with the two year anniversary of my cat's death and feeling like I failed him every morning since.
And my health is just garbage, my kidneys are a mess.

but, shoot even I know folks prefer to buy stuff outright. xD

No worries, you didn't seem snippish, I thought it was very courteous to hold that info until it seemed okay. ^-^

Sorry it took a while to respond back, I'm sure with that's not great with high anxiety. Yeah, for folks who need regular doctor visits this has been a massive mess. Sorry for your computer troubles, hopefully you can acquire one that suits your needs. o.o

Hmmm, if you decide to change fields or avenues, may you find one that you enjoy more. I find that when switching applications and activities some stuff always carries over, some times it's connections you make, some times it's similarity in software. I think it's unlikely that time you invested has been wasted. I may not be helpful here, but I always encourage folks to pursue their passions. o.o

I have a similar situation going on with a lot of the friends I grew up with revealing a toxic side I was unaware of. I have to try not to blame myself, as I keep feeling like I've failed them by not seeing this is the path they were heading down sooner. I moved out of state to go to college, so I wasn't really close enough to be an influence on their lives.

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope your boyfriend becomes more helpful with deeper problems.

With the anniversary, may that feeling pass. I feel a cats love is unconditional, they all seem to play like it's got conditions, but it's a front, once you've earned their love you always have it. I obviously don't know your cat, but I don't think he would have felt like you failed him regardless of the circumstances.

Goodness, this is truly a rough time for folks with health issues. My partner has had on going health issues through out this pandemic, and doctor visits and such has been rough. Especially since we moved from a state that seems to care about health and safety procedures to one that has zero concern. I hope your state is one that has folks trying to keep others safe, even though that seems to be a rare occurrence in todays on goings.

Thank you for feeling comfortable sharing this stuff with me. Sorry again for the slow response time, I'll try to be quicker o.o *activates bunny speeds* Let me know if any of my responses seemed insensitive or like I didn't understand what you were saying, I've been told I don't follow stuff well sometimes. >.>"

Sorry it took a while to respond back, I'm sure with that's not great with high anxiety. Yeah, for folks who need regular doctor visits this has been a massive mess.

No need to apologize. I was not expecting a response, I just hit a nervous spot and felt I had to vent because not doing so seemed rude. I figured I'd just get blocked or it would turn out okay. sweatdrop Most of my doctors won't see me at all unless my conditions go super bad, I can't even get into a psychologist because they are not doing in-office visits due to covid and I don't have access at home to teleconference — not that I really could even if I had the hardware and ability because I can't exactly talk about my abusers in the house with my abusers.
Inedible_Animals
Sorry for your computer troubles, hopefully you can acquire one that suits your needs. o.o

It just keeps getting harder. Every time I think I find a solution, it goes tits akimbo on me.
-- If I went with an iMac: I get to stay on mac, I likely lose all of my applications, it does not have the onboard storage for my work, it's an all-in-one with questionable cooling especially for dust-trap Nevada, and I would have to immediately get new RAM because it does not have ECC ram and I have a 98% catastrophic failure rate buying computer parts in the past 10 years.
-- If I went with an iMac Pro: I get to stay on mac, I likely lose all of my applications, it barely has the onboard storage for my work if I get a 4TB drive, it's an all-in-one with questionable cooling especially for dust-trap Nevada, it's basically impossible to upgrade or change drives in, everything has to be bought up front and that would be like $14,000.
-- If I built a PC: I have to use windows which I can't stand, I can retain my applications but the most important ones do not work as well, I have to ask my best friend for help building it and he does not care at all for doing right by anyone or meeting anyone's needs, and I'd have to buy like $9000+ of computer parts from those places I have a 98% catastrophic failure rate with so that is terrifying.
-- If I bought a PC: I have to use windows which I can't stand, I can retain my applications but the most important ones do not work as well, and will likely be really dodgy junk going by the quality of my laptop (a dell I bought because I needed a windows machine to access my bank, medicaid, and so on and it has turned into a daily need to repress throwing it out the window).

I wonder if it is wasted because I am pondering if the entire genre of applications and activities was a pointless tangent. I have been told that I need to try to relight my passions. So I look at what I do and barely any of it applies. I am a physical modelmaker, that's my training and passion, but it's not feasible at all. So I ponder putting everything into writing, storytelling, and roleplaying games since that is really the only applicable use of the computer that overlays a passion branch as it were — which puts me hard into the mac camp as well, because the one aspect I would keep on mac is a massive suite of writing and printshop options that are amazingly interconnected and integrated.

They don't tell you that the most gut-punching hindsight you often will have is that one day you're going to learn enough about the world and yourself that you end up realizing things that you wish you could have fixed.
Inedible_Animals
I'm sorry to hear that, I hope your boyfriend becomes more helpful with deeper problems.

I hope so too. I love him awful. He's the first person I could see me living out my life with in over 20 years, so I have pinned admittedly way too much on him.
Inedible_Animals

I obviously don't know your cat, but I don't think he would have felt like you failed him regardless of the circumstances.

There was no fronts with Zan. He was too interested in being a whirlwind of trouble and curiosity to waste time on cat aloofness — he had s**t to do. He was the smartest, most active, most vocal cat I have ever met. He had gotten to the point where he literally had the communication skills of a three year old human in pantomiming and "catglish." When the strokes first started hitting, each one we'd nurse him through, but a little less of him would come back.
Inedible_Animals

Nevada is all over the board. The hospital and dental care is better, the general and specialist care is hard to get and at the point where it is a hair shy of what they will see you for is something you need to go to the ER for, and the mental care is basically collapsed.

Did it a second time, sorry. I spend most of my time when on here, messing with my avatar. I forget to follow up.

I actually had to take my macbook in to get it check out yesterday. Think it's time I retire it, it had all my adobe suites on it and I've lost the product keys... So, I think I'm done with the graphic design portion of my life. Fully shifting over to probably a pc and into 3d modeling.

Your cat, he sounds adorable. I'm sorry you both had to encounter such things.

I really hope the coming months are brighter for all of us, luckily halloween approaches! o/

I look at my inventory and just say, "Well, better call TLC because I must be a hoarder." I used to change up my avatar a lot, now I just sort of stick with the "realistic" version of myself out of laziness.

Yeah, adobe has not made sticking with them easy. You can arrrr the CS6 for the PC, but not for the mac thanks to backward compatibility being random at best. CC is basically dumbed down ransomware, I still have to use CS3 and CS5 along with CS6 just to cover all the bases. Brushes, filters, and scripts are randomly unsupported. I might try affinity photo and designer, I do not know.

I wish more 3d modeling was like sketchup. You bring that up to 3d modelers and they ridicule you, but they don't get that it's the UI, not the app that sketchup users are talking about. Most 3d apps have a horrendous, sloppy, random things in random places UI where sketchup is all "Here's the tool you need. We put it in a nice palette with a comprehendible icon."

I'm definitely an item hoarder lol. In Skyrim when I had a house every possible storage container would be filled with gems and jewelry. Perhaps I hoped any robbers would be unable to move upon looting one box, and I could come home to then collapsed on the floor imobile. May be I was concerned it would be tough to move all that stolen loot at once. xD

I've been slowly learning what each of my items do again. I have a hat that contains a sword, like I'm ready to do magic tricks or something. xD

Adobe makes me grumpy, they know they can milk their customers since it's a lot of unique software, so they do... I've never heard of sketch up, I'll have to check it out. I was trained on maya and zbrush as far as 3d modeling goes. However, recently picked up blender, so we'll see how that goes I hear good things. UI is super important for sure, I usually spend at least a few hours remapping my UI when I get new software.

Yes please to tapas of tiny courses of doom as opposed to, the Matilda choclate cake we're currently experiencing. @_@

Sketchup was originally a sort of sneaky farming out of 3d modeling by google. They made this awesome modeling app, encouraged people to make the buildings for google earth. Then it turned into its own thing. Then they sold it to trimble and after sketchup 2018, it became subscription based.

I was working on a starship before this depression made me give up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQeRRcxMxUQ

I have been told I should try maya and zbrush. I have seen a lot of good things about blender, but I never got past the UI and massive lags to use it.

I like zbrush and maya mostly out of familiarity, but they're a bit expensive for my budget. @_@ So, Blender it is for me o/
