Gin came back from a shower and a good sleep and decided he would do some studying. The kind of training that wouldn't make him sweat, so it wouldn't mess up his beautiful skin. Walking into the academy's library, he decided that he would go through the extensive library and decide on a specific book that he would be able to read. He was looking for something that seemed advaned, something he has yet to learn.
Looking through the rows of bookshelfs, he noticed a rather attractive girl who seemed to be reading about medical jutsu. Sure it was a beginners book but he wasn't interested in the book. He kinda dazed at her for a few seconds before realizing that he should really go back to training. There was plenty of time to do that and he knew that he spent most of his time with his style and involving girls.
Looking through the bookshelfs, he saw different books from puppeteering, poisons, to fighting with animals. That's when he decided to go to the Genjutsu section. "Genjutsu for dummies" Gin said as he read over it. It wasn't a book for dummies obviously, it's called that because it made the area of study so easy that a dummy could get it. That was the idea atleast.
Reading through the books index, he decided this would probally be the book of his study. He could create illusions and generally win fights without any manual labor. That was what especially interested him. He put the book under his arm and walked off in order to find a nearby chair. Sittind down, he started to red the book.
"Genjutsu are techniques that are the same as ninjutsu, requiring chakra and hand seals. The difference between the two is that the effects of genjutsu are illusory; instead of attacking the victim's body, genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain." Gin mumbled to himself in a slightly fearful tone. He rubbed the side of his head, thinking about how bad a headache hurt, how would this feel. He wasn't going to let some hot shot do him in with a genjutsu.

Gin saw a picture in the book, it was rather well drawn and it explained the effects of genjutsu through visual aid. Gin loved art and this picture made the concept of genjutsu make more sense, so he made sure to search for every detail in the picture that would help him in his studies and awed at it for a few more seconds before reading on in the book. "So genjutsu attacks the brain and can be used to leave openings in the opponent, also one must be properly aware of how genjutsu works to be able to navigate it." Gin said softly under his breath as he rubbed his right thumb and pointer finger together, feeling the texture of his skin without putting much thought into it. He was so distracted by his studies that he wasn't paying attention to his small habit.
Well that was pretty good, but he had to continue his study. At this point he had a general reason to even bother with genjutsu. Genjutsu wasn't physical, it left the opponent open for shuriken attacks, and he could use this knowledge for the future when combating against genjutsu himself. Gin hadn't gone on a single mission yet but he was well prepared for almost anything that the world could throw at him, well that was what he thought. This didn't stop him from realizing that there was much more he could learn and that he could easily become stronger. He knew he had a long way to go from his past of seeing high ranked shinobi.
He skipped a few pages of stuff that didn't exactly interest him until he came upon a picture that would pretty much describe the previous pages. It was the image of something that one might experience, completely drawn of course. It was a gruesome sight to say the least, and it wasn't making Gin to have a genjutsu cast upon him by another person. It actually made him sick. Illusions were scary things, so that is how a genjutsu would look. This certainly made him interesd in his studies and definately increased his resolve to counter genjutsu.
He read now that certain doujutsu could be used to counter genjutsu. A prime example was the sharingan. "Lucky bastards, why do they get such an unfair advantage from the get go." Gin said. It was at a beginning stage, but this was the first reason as to why he hated the Uchiha clan. They were a group of geniuses and he didn't like the competition very much. He would definately defeat any Uchiha he would find in the future, to demonstrate his prowess.
"Genjutsu is used when a ninja extends their chakra flow into the cerebral nervous system of an opponent to control their brain's chakra, controlling their five senses. To avoid and use genjutsu, you need to have high intellegence and a good eye for detail." Gin read word for word off the book. He knew he was pretty intellegent and would be able to do genjutsu fairly well, but his intellegence wasn't on genius level. He was more quick and charming than intellegent and even he would admit this. He wasn't completely against studying though and this would be an important detail that would set him apart from most.

Gin decided, he wouldn't specialize in genjutsu but he'd have a basic understand so that he could atleast negate it and be able to take it. He wouldn't let himself train only physically and then be easily taken out by a basic genjutu user. He knew he should specialize in his shuriken training and also in his talking skills. That is what he was best at and what held the most interest for him. And he would also have ninjutsu to use in specific situations but mainly he would do his shuriken attacks.
Rubbing the side of his head he changed to the next page, the genjutsu in the book was rather basic and generalized. It never got into anything specific like specific jutsu to learn except small references to genjutsu release and acouple others. So this would be more along the lines of a reference for average genjutsu, it wouldn't act as a training manual for advanced techniques. It was Genjutsu for Dummies, it wasn't Genjutsu for the Highly Skilled Uchiha.
He went back to the habit of rubbing his pointer and thumb together in circular motions. Looking down at the book he was studying. This was a very long book and he wasn't even halfway done with the book and he was already getting rather bored with the novel. He was going to work his way through it though, he knew he'd come back to regret it if he ended up in battle and had to know some of the details that was in this book. Though he had to admit, this was pretty monotonous compared to physical training even if he didn't have to worry about getting sweaty.
Turning the page again he read the contents of what was before him in the book. Genjutsu was a scary thing, and it seemed to be rather complicated, much more than a simple ninjutsu. Even the most basic techniques of genjutsu seemed pretty advanced and powerful. This taught him another lesson, if he meets a genjutsu user, he would make sure to fill the person with holes way before they even decided on what genjutsu to use. It would be troublesome if he was to slow on the draw, he would much rather fight a fist fighter.
He flipped the book over and put it carefully on the table while it was still open and the pages facing down, he made sure it was on the page. Heading over to the restroom he relieved himself and then washed his hands of course. Drying off his hands he returned back to the table and noticed his book was gone. He looked around and noticed one of the people returning the book to it's rightful bookshelf. "Umm, sorry but I was reading that. May I have that back?" Gin asked as he smiled politely. After the girl gave him back the book he returned back to the table and looked through the pages to find the one he was on and went back to reading.

He couldnt' help but notice that another person was reading a book about genjutsu at a nearby table. The guy was also a shinobi and although there was no communication between the two of them. He was definately going to study harder than that person, he was going to learn this so he would have an advantage on whoever that male was. Reading through the index in the beginning of the book, he found another particular unit of interest. It was still genjutsu and the book was completely about genjutsu but there were different sub-sections.
There was so much information in the book that he was going through and he generally understood the jist of all of it. He didn't care how boring it was as long as he was strong in the end, he would have to go through a lot of uncomfortable situations to get the power that he desired so much. He wanted to be powerful and didn't care by what means, even if it meant hurting others to get it. it didn't neccessarily mean he'd go on an emo rage like some other people that could be named. Reading the book he planted his elbow on the table and placed his chin in his palm.
He gripped the page and switched to the next page. He yawned nonchalantly as he moved his free hand over his mouth. He didn't know how much longer he could handle this training he was in right now. He was about halfway done with the book and he was determined to finish this fully. He was pretty surprised that this book had so much detail in it in the first place and he didn't know that genjutsu was this extensive. Sure he was aware that there was a long list of genjutsu jutsu but he didn't know that there were this many basics.
He continued to read, the current subject was about what kinda genjutsu were good for specific people. I mean what point was it to put someone into a feeling of being up high when the person is a dare devil and loves being up in high places and even sky diving. It would be completely useless to make some feel like they are sinking when they are a member of the Hoshigaki clan aswell. It gaves tips on how you could judge the opponents fears so you could accurately use a genjutsu on the enemy that would prove effective.
The next are explained effective ways you could get the person into a genjutsu. Effective transitions aswell so that you could make it so the enemy wouldn't even be able to notice you were using a genjutsu in the first place. That way they wouldn't be able to push it off like it was nothing. Say your trying to do a genjutsu and you just blatantly yell out the word genjutsu, the enemy might think it's a genjutsu and quickly use a genjutsu release to reject it. On the other hand if you don't let the enemy know then you can effective drain their mental health like nothing.

(HAYATE: make sure you keep your progress updated on every post)
Rugen spent over half an hour in the lunch room, reminiscing about his youth here in the academe. The days were much more dangerous now, and several of his friends had already been killed in battle, while many more faced clear and present danger almost every day. He knew that one day soon he would be able to join them, but for now it was time to get back to work.
Rugen stood up from the table and headed back down the hall, into the library once more. The book was still sitting where it had been before, but now there was another boy sitting near by. He didn't seem to pay Rugen any mind, so it was decided that Rugen would just go on about his business. He returned to his table and sat.
Rugen flipped open to the page he had left off on and then turned to a new page. Genjutsu is created when a ninja extends their chakra flow through the cerebral nervous system of their opponent to control their mind's chakra, thereby affecting their five senses. Rugen was now processing the information much more clearly, but there were a few sentences that had been marked out with a black marker, leaving only the caption Chuunin level required written below. " Damn. I can't stand it when they limit information by rank. Who's to say knowing what was in that sentence couldn't save my life one day? "
Rugen didn't make a habit out of asking rhetorical questions, especially when he was the only one listening. He continued to read on; Those under the influence of genjutsu either freeze in place or lose consciousness, depending on how capable they are in recognizing and defending against it. " So if i get hit by a genjutsu and i don't do something about it, i'll be left wide open. I need to figure out how to counter it then.
He turned the page, and on the next page it listed several of the villages highest level genjutsu users from the past. All of them were long gone and dead, so there was no threat of any secrets about their techniques being exposed. On the page opposite, the book continued to explain genjutsu. Genjutsu attacks usually require a lot of skill, and, if performed incorrectly, will not work. Genjutsu is most often used by ninja with very precise chakra control and very high intelligence. " Hmm. Sounds like me. Perhaps I should try my hand at using genjutsu in the future. "

Gin looked over to another person who was making quite a lot of noise, the librarian wasn't really taking mind to it because not that many people were infact in the library. Gin wasn't wearing his headband at the moment either. "If your going to talk out loud like an idiot, you might aswell leave or keep your voice down, you disrupting those of us who actually can learn the stuff we are reading about." Gin said, he was directly insulting the other kid for being unable to learn Genjutsu even. He then looked back down at his book and continued to read more about Genjutsu and it's workings.
Yawning softly, he traced the words he was reading with his thumb. He found it easier to keep his place if he was to gaze away, which would save tons of time and a lot of struggle. Nothing was worse than when you lose your place in a novel or book and you have to scurry through the text to find exactly where you were. He didn't want to waste any time in this place learning these stupid lessons, if he could learn them quicker he would. He wanted to be able to take all this stuff into the actual battlefield or atleast training field.
He was rather anxious to move onto the next step, though he didn't know what the next step was. Genjutsu would take a little work into it, and he had no skill in it at all yet. He wasn't getting skilled in this area as quickly as he did with his shuriken training. Shuriken training seemed easier than this, a lot easier. Maybe that's just becuase he wasn't the smartest of kids even if he was smarter than most. He flipped to the next page to revealed a chart to show just how many shinobi specialized in different fields.
He couldn't help but notice that genjutsu was one of the least used arts of a ninja. That kinda made him happy, considering that would only mean that less people would be able to use these dangerous techniques on him. Most people were more interesting in giant explosions, the more destructive ninjutsu. And weapons were ealso pretty popular considering most ninja were trained with different weapons such as shuriken and kunai. And a lot of shinobi used summoned weapons that were rather unique. Taijutsu seemed rather lame on the list aswell as genjutsu, sure most trained in taijutsu but most ninjas didn't specialize in it.
If he was on a mission it would be rare for him to meet a genjutsu user. He wouldn't even really have to worry about it but he also needed something to counter the few who specialized in it. What if he went face to face with an uchiha, he would definately want to poke out their eyes, but they knew genjutsu. He would have to be able to avoid genjutsu so he could hit them with his shuriken prowess. He also was rather interested in swordfighting too, it was always an interest that he never was able to work on. He would have to work on that too along with his shuriken training.

Genjutsu: 14/20 (( This is BEFORE the post like all the rest of mine. ))
Gin thought about all the concepts that he studied up to this point. Genjutsu wouldn't be a horrible choice, it seemed to be more subtle than the others and he could use it on the idiots around him. As the book said previously, genjutsu was rather rare and although he was determined to fight with weapons. His body just wasn't matured enough to take on the feats of taijutsu and he would rather do something that didn't physically drain him into sweating. Ninjutsu had some aspects he liked but the more he read about Genjutsu, the more it interested him.
If everyone was using ninjutsu than they would have a weak point against genjutsu as it attacked the wisdom of a user. Only genjutsu users trained extensively on that and tons of people focused on their health on the other hand. They would be easy picking for genjutsu, but he also had to take into account that he was easy prey to ninjutsu and taijutsu user. Which would mean he would also have to be very evasive, he would have to increase his speed to be able to deal with that. Hopefully his teammates would be able to support him in the other areas while he had wisdom, dexterity, and charisma mainly.
Flipping through the pages as he read them, he was getting through a generally long book in a short time. He was a pretty good reader, he was able to understand most of the concepts in the book while speed reading. Gen meaning Illusionary, Jutsu meaning Technique. It is used to create false images or to cause pain from trauma. Genjutsu can be used via certain objects like bells or without. Genjutsu is mearly illusions and although they can defeat an opponent, they don't have any substance. It is better not to use genjutsu when facing multiple opponents because another person can attack you during the genjutsu.
Uchiha excel at genjutsu and it is advised not to fight an Uchiha using Genjutsu unless you outclass the Uchiha. A genjutsu requires a lot of skill, and if it is performed incorrectly, it won't have any effect. Genjutsu effects activity throughout the Prosencephalon structure of the brain. This means that although it can confuse all mammals from wild animals to civilized humans, insects are not affected. This is because they lack a Prosencephalon structure. This means that genjutsu are completely useless against those of the Aburame clan of konoha and other bug based clans.
There have been cases in the past where elite shinobi of the highest caliber seemed to have been able to train their eyes to combat genjutsu without the use of a doujutsu. He would certaintly want to do that when he got to that level of skill. That way he would be able to combat against Uchiha who he seemed to be building a hatred for. The book also said if you are a chakra sensor, you could check your own chakra for fluctuations so you could tell you were in a genjutsu. The only problem is that wasn't really possible for Gin as he didn't have a clan that specialized in that area and it wasn't an area of interest.

Reading through the book, he found himself even more interested in genjutsu. Ninjutsu seemed to be more and more uninteresting as he read up on more genjutsu. Plus he hated the fact that other people had the sharingan, he would have to defeat them at their own game. It didn't have as much sweating involved as taijutsu, and that's what he disliked the most even if weapons interested him either way. Rubbing his eyelash, a single hair came off as he looked down at it. It was rather nasty, he had just earlier tripped his eyelashs to be perfect but now one fell off. This stopped him from properly reviewing all the things he had missed.
It took him a few moments but he finally got his mind back on the matter at hand, reading the book about genjutsu. He wanted to study on some of the things that he had previously missed. The last part of the book was mainly a review and after that he would be done with the book. He traced his finger on the words he was saying in his head like he always did and with his other hand he held the book open. Rubbing his left hand's fingers out of habit. "Genjutsu is created when a ninja extends their chakra flow through the cerebral nervous system of their opponent to control their mind's chakra, thereby affecting their five senses." Gin reviewed.

Gin took a deep sigh, he didn't know a single genjutsu technique yet and yet it seemed so interesting to him. He knew the mechanics of the genjutsu but he didn't know how to properly use it and the full extent of it. Heck it was quite possible that he overestimated genjutsu, he idealized the idea so much that he would certaintly be disillusioned when he first used a genjutsu. Although genjutsu were also very powerful, they would be able to turn the tide in any battle and he would be able to crush many people with these techniques. Reading through the remaining of the book he found some valuable information that he didn't get the first time and made the concept of genjutsu make more sense. He felt as if he got more experienced in genjutsu all of a sudden.

The more that Rugen read, the more interested he became with the idea of using genjutsu. It had many advantages over ninjutsu, or so it seemed. It could render the target completely useless and open to attack, and it also gave way to a lot of interesting types of mental attacks. Attacks on the psyche, that could take down any opponent with a weak will without doing much more than creating a few hand signs.
On the downside, there was always a chance that the target would be able to resist his genjutsu, and if he didn't have more physical attacks, that would be the end for him. Rugen thought over these ideas for a few minutes, not ready yet to decide on how much focus he should give to the idea of learning genjutsu. He did, however, know that being able to counter it was not a choice, but a necessity for any respectable shinobi.
It became evident to Rugen that simply understanding genjutsu wasn't enough to help him fight against it. He stood from the table and wondered back over to the bookshelf, searching for other books on genjutsu. There were many, but none of them seemed directly related to fighting against it. " I guess I'll just ask about it later then.. " He said, returning to the table and taking his seat.
Rugen flipped the page over, and began reading from the book once more. Because genjutsu effects activity throughout the Prosencephalon structure of the brain, humans, dogs and other species of mammal are therefore all affected by genjutsu; however, lower life forms, like insects, lack such a structure to their brains, and so do not even notice it. Informative, he thought, but not much help. It seemed unlikely that he would ever try to combat insects with genjutsu, given his other available options of attack. If he was to go up against any sort of insect handler ninja, he would probably want to have a jutsu that could take out many small targets at once. Not an illusionist technique to be sure.
Rugen continued reading until the text on the page ended, and he took a moment to suck in all that he was learning. He was well aware of the seriousness that this information had. One day, his life, and possibly the lives of others, would depend on the knowledge that he was able to gather now through his training. " I won't let the people of our village down by slacking off in my youth. I'll be the most excellent Shinobi this village has yet to see. "

Rugen looked out a near-by window and noticed something rather peculiar. A bird, belonging to a shinobi by the looks of him, perched on one of the light posts outside of the academe. He quickly noticed an attached letter to the birds leg, and rushed out to retrieve it. It simply read " Report to the town square to meet you're new squad and discuss a mission. " Not wasting a moment, Rugen checked the book that he had been reading out of the library and rushed off the meet up with his new team.
